Greetings!
I recently installed the assembly kit and spent several hours going through the tables and reading the posts in this forum in an attempt to learn how to mod. The tables left me with a bunch of questions and the posts reinforced how little I know about modding, coding, and how complicated (to me, at least) many of the things real modders have accomplished.
So, my objective is to create a mod, or more of a family management tool for campaigns, that will kill off my current Daimyo in order to make way for the next generation. I'll call it the Daimyo Death mod.
I'd like to lower the chance of bad traits given to the new Daimyo and increase the chance of good traits on his ascension.
It also must be save game compatible, obviously, and compatible with other major mods.
My Daimyo and his heir both have five sons and I recently found this http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=540561 so papa shimazu has got to go.
I attempted to change the effect of one my daimyo's retainers to: chance of death at end of turn -100( like doctor who is +5 or something) but it had no effect on my saved game. I would like to publish the mod but this approach wont work for other players.
Please feel free to answer some, or all of my questions(or none and just laugh at the dumb ones), but any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Is there a comprehensive guide to using the modding tools?
Is the assembly kit or pfm better for modding?
If I change a table that another mod changes, how can I get them to work together?
what would be the best way to increase just the Daimyo's chance of death at end of turn without affecting other characters?
Do changes to tables take effect instantly or at the beginning of the next turn?
how high do percentage values go? 99?100? or higher
I seem to recall a mission or dilemma issued in sp campaign game for my daimyo to commit seppoku to make room for the next generation, but I can't find it in the tables. Has anyone seen this or am I trippin'?
Thanks for reading my post! no doubt I'll have more questions
