Why would you ever feel the need to make that amount of colonies? Your tech must of crashed!?

Actually, my tech was one of the best in the world (only behind the all-neutral switzerland and Italy, but my naval tech was higher than italy's, so that was k ). I had that many colonies to ensure that I would be able to claim all lands in South America for myself. And simply because I could afford them, so why not?

Your tech doesn't have to suffer from colonies as long as you make sure you have sufficient funds to maintain them without having to mint for it.
