Why does no one ever want an ancient Greek roleplay??
I might try it; how would people feel with an element of mythology mixed in? An Ancient Greek rp would be fun, but an ancient Greek rp where medusa and the hydra are knocking around could be even more so...
It started out like the current Roman game, but there was nothing to do really.
Nothing making people act.
You know what would be cool?
A fictional setting (but no magic etc) of vaguely Bronze Age culture, based on Mesopotamia, Egypt, Mycenaean Greece, Indo-Iranians/Aryans, and maybe even Celts.
City-states, chariot-mounted elites, and shifting pantheons of gods.
But hey, I got this beautiful thing called Under Sun and Sky going on

Of course, I saved the house sign-up sheet. I even added quite a few ministerialis and Minnesänger known to be part of Henry VI's court!
I would totally be in DHRR, because it's so awesome. Of course the post-Barbarossa setting was a good idea (would be lame to throw out of the window my Staufer, he!). I could even help you somehow to finish it, depending on what's left.
WotR and Latin Empire/Outremer settings are my favored choices, with Warhammer Fantasy coming close behind those two. WotR was more less complete when it suddenly was dropped! Latin is a very interesting setting, as the Outremer one; would be wiser to chose later dates for the setting rather than "we have just conquered Constantinople/Jerusalem", like the Courtenay's LE or the Kingdom of Jerusalem (Acre), ruled by the Lusignan.
Yeah, but starting a couple of projects at the same time is not so good idea. At best, the majority (first 5 or 10) should tell us what you want to see.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I still think a late Bronze Age fantasy would be awesome
Spoiler for bronze age images:
You know what could be hilarious?
An RPG where all the players are put into an ancient, developing civilization, fictional of course, and without too many obvious/easy parallels to history; then I watch as you all try to run it.
You have to actually administrate it, enforce your decisions, figure out how to run a military, etc.
I thought of this while reading about the different experiments the medieval Japanese (Kofun through Kamakura periods) went through.
They kept trying all these different things, and you can just picture these emperors, courtiers, and monks scratching their heads in frustration when they don't work.
Like the Shoen or the Ritsuryo.
Who the hell thought it was a good idea to use meritocratic organization but allow people to inherit rank? Bahahahaha

I just spent 6 or 7 hours researching how oppressive feudalism somehow arose in a pre-medieval Japan that had a meritocratic, Confucian (pre-modern Socialism, basically) system of land management. Yes, that's right.. Virtually useless information. Couldn't be more useless. But I did it. Because I can't help myself when I don't see the progression in any piece of history in any part of the world.
Get on my level, filthy casuals. (Read: I have serious issues)
Is there a slot for another game? I am thinking of Genesis again, with the simplest possible rules, and more innovation like BF said above.
I'm starting to get the impression that this thread is just BF's monologue
Hmm, that's a bit difficult to say as I think it depends on what happens to Res Publica, which has just hit a wall so to speak RP-wise as activity there has slowed down pretty much to a stop. However, all of our Rps have been facing the same problem, possibly due to recent holidays or maybe upcoming Final Exams/papers at school for a lot of players in the next few weeks that are slowing thigns down.
GoT has recovered slightly, but it is still slower than it used to be.
I would say we should wait till either one of the three current rps capitulates, opening room for a new rp or till Christmas break and see how activity is then.
