Default Takeshi's Campaign to save his castle!

Ok, I just created a new avatar and I thought it might be cool to makes some battle reports, showing the progress of the soon-to-be mighty leader. (Fisher is the clan, Takeshi is the Daimyo)

NOTE: Takeshi only battles to protect his castle from a threatening rival clan's force. He is never the aggressor.

The battle of the Iwaki foothills. Nielslarzen vs Takeshi, level 2 vs level 2.

Daymio Takeshi dons his ceremonial blood red armour in preparation for the battle ahead. A skilled adversary, general Nielslarzen is revered for his skill in hand-to-hand combat and command during the heat of battle. After massacring the Kakishi clan, ally of the Fisher clan, Nielslarzen brings his army to the Iwaki foothills, sabotaging Fisher clan rice fields and provoking Takeshi into action.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Takeshi's army consists of mainly peasants, after his previous army was all but destroyed by the Hulk menace. However, he managed to persuade his brother to provide three units of elite Yari Cavalry, which Takeshi, a skilled cavalry commander, knows may tip the scales in his favour. He sets up his force on a ridge, and sends down a unit of archers to capture a morale shrine.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Nielslarzen's army consists of shock troops (experienced and deadly katana samurai) and two Yari Ashigaru.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Takeshi waits patiently. He has concealed one unit of Yari cavalry in a small forest in front and to the left of his main force. His other two are concealed in the woods behind his forces. His aim is to trap the enemy infantry into a deadly bottleneck.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Nielslarzen's army has moved up and he now surveys his adversary.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The stand-off is broken when Nielslarzen sends a unit of No-dachi samurai down to contest the shrine.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

He comes as well, and quickly dismounts (he knows his skill in combat is only as good as his grip on the ground). A volley from the Fisher archers quickly disperses his horses, and he now has no escape.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

In a bold move, Nielslarzen sends his entire army down into the valley. Takeshi sends his Yari Ashigaru down to provoke a charge and hold the infantry. The trap is set.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Nielslarzen forces take the bait, and advance upon the waiting Fisher infantry. A deadly clash of spears ensues, while Nielslarzen sends three units of Katana samurai to aid the peasants.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

One of the concealed Yari Cavalry units which was concealed behind Takeshi's main force springs into action, climbs over the crest of the hill and speeds down into the valley.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The flanking cavalry on the left tries to draw away some of the Nielslarzen forces to make a softer target for the concealed Yari Cavalry.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

While some units pull away for a little while, they soon rejoin the fight, which is becoming bloodier by the second.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Meanwhile on the right side, the nervous Ashigaru brace for an incoming No-dachi attack.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Takeshi realises he is running out of time, and orders the flanking cavalry into the back of the fight. Hopefully, this will soften up the forces enough to allow for a second deadly cavalry charge.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Meanwhile on the right flank, the Yari Ashigaru are taking losses fast. They are no match for the long piercing swords and their skilled groin shots. Takeshi knows that if he can't win the battle on the left quickly, he will lose the battle.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

He springs the waiting Yari cavalry, who charge out of the darkness and into the softened enemy's backs.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The charge is a success, and the remaining Nielslarzen infantry are forced into a tight blob, stuck between cavalry and a wall of spears. The fight for the left flank is all but done.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Takeshi springs his last concealed cavalry, who sprint to aid the brave Ashigaru on the right.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Nielslarzen's army on the left is broken and close to routing.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Meanwhile, the flanking cavalry on the right spots a tightly packed Ashigaru unit and heads in for the kill. The unit is taken out of the equation almost instantly.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Nielslarzen and his deadly bodyguard now join the fight against the wavering Ashigaru units.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Takeshi has won the left flank. He sends his remaining infantry to reinforce the Ashigaru, and sends the cavalry round the back of the shrine for a flanking charge.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Ashigaru is dying fast at the hands of the elite warriors.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The infantry reinforcement is a welcome sight for the bloodied Ashigaru, but the Nielslarzen forces fight on, cutting down the Fisher infantry one by one.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

A cavalry strike from behind sends Nielslarzen forces flying.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

In the confusion, a unit of Nielslarzen katana samurai breaks, and fleas from the cavalry right into the waiting Fisher infantry. They are slaughtered.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The general and his bodyguard however, fight to the death.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The battle is won, and the bodyguard, whose brave fighting has created a small clearing in the mass of soldiers, are quickly surrounded and butchered.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

A decisive victory for Takeshi, who is now proving himself to be a skilled and deadly cavalry commander.
