yes, and we are sorry to keep you guys waiting, but when one is a perfectionist, sometimes others really feal the heat.
Magyars have been ready for over a year.(or so )
(Pechenegs and Tulunids are as well, as far as i can say regarding my work, and i would assume there are also 2-3 factions by my fellow co-moders that are waiting in the que for being previewed)
AnthoniusII is a bit rigorous when it comes in previews, he wants everything to be in place.
Cant blame him,...we all would probably be, when walking in his shoes.
Besides photos and 2d we need accurate texts, in which the language barrier is maximizing sometimes the time
for a preview to see full realization.
Please have in mind that there is nothing we want to do more than to show you guys everything we got.
But AnthoniusII's dream-mod is not a game limited to provide "eyecandy" solely, but to "educate" in a way.
And i certainly couldnt agree more, and i certainly could not do my self otherwise.
So please , be patient, and eventually we will all talk about the "TGC experience"
Great preview as always +rep
Great preview, guys, have some rep! I'm really looking forward to play the Magyars, having always liked Hungary and it's history
"Pompeius, after having finished the war against Mithridates, when he went to call at the house of Poseidonios, the famous teacher of philosophy, forbade the lictor to knock at the door, as was the usual custom, and he, to whom both the eastern and the western world had yielded submission, ordered the fasces to be lowered before the door of science."
Pliny the Elder, Naturalis Historia, 7, 112
In my opinion no. The knights in service of the Hungarian king for the period of TGC timeframe consisted of Germans. The feudalization of Hungarian army and therefore the adoption of the knight style by native Hungarian nobles was a slow process which could started within TGC timeframe but developed much, much later. So the knights of Hungarian army of TGC period were all or almost all Germans. While all Boks were Hungarians.
Absolutely wonderful! Hungary's history has always been a fascinating one. I eagerly await each preview. This and DOTS are my most eagerly anticipated mods
Heir to Noble Savage in the Imperial House of Wilpuri
great preview, interesting faction!!!
EB II is finally out! ...NOW!!!...
TGC in order to continue its development seak one or more desicated scripters to put our campaign scripts mess to an order plus to create new events and create the finall missing factions recruitment system. In return TGC will give permision to those that will help to use its material stepe by step. The result will be a fully released TGC plus many mods that will benefit TGC's material.
Despite the mod is dead does not mean that anyone can use its material
read this to avoid misunderstandings.

Fantastic preview, gentlemen. It's a testament to the mod's dedication that I can never tell whether the units do the historical info justice or whether the historical info does the units justice. But great work all around. And especially to koultouras. I know how hard it is to make the units in a steppe army unique and distinctive. And these units are lovely.

If we want to be historically accurate, then we should have a completely different Magyar and Hungarian army. You can see the Magyar army above, but that was only before King Stephen I.
I could write many thing about the reforms of Stephen, but it's unnecessary. The most important: he destoryed the tribal society, and build a new, feudal one - in 30 years! Yes, there were some rebellions against it, but it was a huge result. There were many cases of the succession of Stephen - the Magyars' religion had a female deity, who was changed to Holy Mary in Christianity, and Magyars knew Christianity before, etc.
In paralell with the changes in the society and religion, he also changed the military organisation. Its centres were the king's castles, and the base of the army were the "várnépek", who were peasants with special military duties, and privileges. Their officers were the "várjobbágyok", who were mostly "bők" before the reforms. The "várnépek" fought on foot, while "várjobbágyok" fought on horse. Of course there were many other parts of the army (for example Szeklers, Pechenegs, Cumans, or knights), the most of the army looked liked this.
The Hungarian nobles had bow until the XIII-XIV.century, however they had heavy armor, and chivalric style weaponry too.
And thank you for the +reps!

great mod will be !!!
I can't wait to play
No problem I'm eager to see how the evolution of the Magyars into the Hungarians will be portrayed in the game. Didn't Stephen also introduce ten vármegyék/counties to control his kingdom? I think the counts were called ispán, but you will probably know better Will you have titles like these as traits for the Magyars? Maybe they could be unlocked during Stephen's time as well and give additional bonuses like increased law or influence.
