Default The Collection of Gen. Chris

Welcome to my "collection". I have a fairly small collection right now...Only three entries. However, two of them are fairly large projects, one of which I have mostly completed (but not edited and fleshed out), and another that is currently in sort of a limbo as to whether I wish to continue with it or not. The last entry is two short stories that are part of a much larger story that I wrote out about two years ago, but never really completed. In fact, I felt by the end I was writing it rather poorly, except for some parts. Those parts may get added (as the first two have) with some background information as to where they are in the story, but I won't know for sure for a while. I will have to see the reaction to the short stories. They are all good enough to stand on their own without everything else I have written for them, I believe.

This is also where I might discuss my ideas for other projects that I have running about my head. Finally, I will also add the current state of the larger projects

    Current Work Long Stories

    Tale of Aron
    Most Recent Update: Chapter Fifteen
Subject: A Heroes Journey throughout Gielinor, the world in which Runescape (an MMORPG) takes place.
Status: On hiatus due to the fact that I am quite busy. Will come back later.

    A House Divided
    Most Recent Update: Chapter Thirteen
Subject: Set during a fictional Second American Civil War
Status: Ongoing. Updates will be slower coming as school has now resumed.

    Short Stories

    War in the East
Subject: Invasion of the Eastern Lands set in Middle Earth
Most Recent Update: Short Story Number 2
    Status: Debatable.

    Tales of Assassins
Subject: The Assassination of a Roman Emperor
    Status: Experimental
    Updated: Update Number 2 up

    What Have I Become?
Subject: A young man is hunted down for finding something he should not have
    Status: ?

    AARs
    Invasion of Mordor
Subject: This AAR was more of a "fun" AAR in Lord of the Rings Total War. I let Mordor get as powerful as it could (without expanding out of Mordor) and then cheated several armies from various kingdoms to simulate an invasion by Gondor, which would have also included men from Rohan, Free Peoples of Eriador, and Dale (all under the command of Gondor).
    Most Recent Update: Update Four
Status: Dead. The campaign suffered numerous CTDs, and eventually the files were lost when I had to factory restore my laptop. I may eventually try to recreate it in either LOTR Total War or TATW.

Ideas Ideas that are rattling around my head currently:

    - A story set in the universe of The Walking Dead (long or short story to be decided)
    - A story set in the same universe as A House Divided, but from the perspective of the other side. May be short or long story.
    - A historical epic set in either Greek or Roman times. I am also interested in writing a medieval epic but Tale of Aron somewhat fulfills that. If I do not do this, I may consider a series of short stories set in Roman or Greek history.
    - A story based off of Assassin's Creed (unlikely, but you never know)
    - A secret project. I shan't say a word about it.
    - An AAR based off of Medieval or Rome mods (likely TATW or Westeros for Medieval and RS II or FATW for Rome). This one is unlikely because I do not have the patience nor the time to do such a thing right now, but I have tremendous respect for those that create and continue such long running projects (Knonfoda and Fixeewee come to mind). However, I do have a modified AAR in mind where instead of following an entire faction I focus on a specific army and its trials and tribulations, with occasional background information from everything else that is going on. This would specifically work well with Roma Surrectum, with its unique legionary units a prime candidate for such a story that mostly follows only a single army (or in this case, a legion). Of course I would continue playing out the whole faction but I would only report on the major issues confronted by the one army.
-I have come up with another idea but it would be difficult to implement. Will pursue it when time allows.

As you can see, much of the subject matter I am interested in either involves utilizing source material already around for general ideas, and expanding on them. I hate to say it but a lot of it is somewhat fan-fictiony. But I'm terrible at inventing names and places.

Anyway, I hope to keep this updated.

I just had an idea come to me for a short story. Will perhaps write up a rough draft this weekend and see what happens.

Funnily enough, Audacia, the picture used in your sig is of Leonius from Assassin's Creed II, who is the basis of my newest story

So I mentioned a possible historical epic. I believe I have decided on a topic (in terms of setting), and I think I will try to plan for about 3-5 chapters, so more of a mini epic. I suppose we will just have to see.

In other news, I am hoping for Aron to return soon. I'm thinking of taking another look at the most recent chapter I wrote (but did not post) in a few days and hoping for some better writing to come out of the second look.

House Divided should also return soonish. I have been trying to plan out Part Two better than I did for Part One, hence the delay. Chapter Six (first chapter of Part Two) was only posted to let you know whether or not the story would continue.

Finally, Tale of a Roman Assassin (will likely be renamed again) received enough positive feedback to warrant perhaps a sequel short story, featuring another character. We shall see.

This all depends on things that may or may not happen over the coming week or so.

    That is all.

Updated to add other works of mine such as reviews and articles. Only because I've been looking at other people's collections and it makes mine look rather sparse by comparison without them

Finally(!) did my Assassin's Creed Revelations review.

Anyway, summer. The thought that has been on my mind for a while.

As Shanky (and others) know, I have two stories I plan on finishing over summer. I hope to make weekly updates to them at the very least. If I can't finish both, I plan on finishing at least Tale of Aron. And with the finishing of Tale of Aron will come a new serial, though it will be a small one. I also plan on at least a couple short stories.

As for my reviews of Games, Movies, and TV shows, that is another matter. I'd like to at least have bi-weekly updates for each (though since the movies and TV shows are in the same thread, it might be two weeks between each type, or two weeks between them in general, one or the other). I would try for more, but since I shoot for 1,200-1,500 words per review (with the highest that I know of being 2,300 for my Assassin's Creed Brotherhood review), it might be difficult. These reviews are the equivalent of short essays at times, and with the addition of suitable pictures, the process can take hours. These reviews may come more often, or there may be longer times between updates. In general, I'm shooting for bi-weekly on average.

In any case, I have tons of material to cover. I have a couple hundred movies, dozens of TV shows (not to mention access to Netflix and the summer movies coming up), and a dozen games I plan on playing over summer. I don't know what movies or TV shows will be reviewed until I actually decide on it. But the games I plan on reviewing are:

    - God of War
    - God of War II
    - God of War III
    - God of War Chains of Olympus
    - God of War Ghosts of Sparta (These five might be packaged as one giant review due to me acquiring them through the five-pack Saga set)
    - Grand Theft Auto IV + Episodes from Liberty City (episode reviews will be short, though)
    - Transformers: War for Cybertron
    - Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands
    - Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
    - Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
    - Portal 2 (possibly the first game, as well)
    - inFAMOUS
    - inFAMOUS 2
    - Batman: Arkham Asylum
    - A secret review...still hammering out the details

    Possible games to be reviewed:

    - God of War Ascension
    - Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
    - Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
    - The Last of Us
    - Batman: Arkham City
    - More

Most likely, I won't get around to all of them. But it will give you a general idea of what I am shooting for.

Anyway, enough of this for now. I'm off to go work on all my other projects...the ones that matter (essays) unfortunately.

Hah! This might be a problem.

I have discovered that you can download a bunch of old PS1 and PS2 games through the Playstation Network. This might lead to some reviews of older games...I may end up calling that thread "Oldies-but-goodies: Old Games" or something like that

If it does happen, the irony of playing 15+ year old games on a $300 system will not be lost on me
