Mikkeller makes good beers...
Cynic Bastard, Anti-Everything Reactionary
^sure, they make some pretty creative ones with black truffles, wild yeast and the use of barrel conditioning in barriques previously used for cognac, whisky and top-end wines and sell to gourmet restaurants. Nowadays many of their brewings are done at De Proefbrouwerij in Belgium (I have not followed the beer thread consistently lately, dunno if their products had a mention there), but the inspiration for the Beer Geek Breakfast may have originated from a product of one of their previous brewing partners, Gourmetbryggeriet, that produces the Jamaica Blue Mountain Stout that contains (traces) of both JBM coffee and some fine belgian chocolate. Some years ago when I tried this it kind of convinced me that coffee and beer should be kept apart, but let us see if Mikkeler can convince me otherwise. I just might take a detour around the bar tonight.

I had their Black Hole aged in tequila barrels. Wierdest beer ever. The normal Black Hole is made with coffee, dark sugar, honey and such. Really thick and really really really sweet. And the tequila barrels (I can't get the normal version) give it this sweet, resinous and boozy fruity flavour. And my most expensive beer to date. A small 375ml wine bottle costed me nearly €15.
I can get the Brunch Weasel (hell, I can buy it online from this awesome new webshop) for like €15.75 (or a little more prehaps at the shop I always go to for my rare beers) for a tiny 25cl bottle.
I find the price outrageous. I bought their Beer Geek Breakfast for less than €6. Now it costs like nearly €8. Big inflation there, probably because Mikkeller is very very rare in the Netherlands and it is a bit hyped by the real beer geeks.
The price cannot be justified by the civet coffee. I bought the 'Kopi Loewak' by Dutch microbrewer De Molen for like €4 and that was a great beer.
Infact, I prefer those thick high strength coffee stouts over more weak and thin coffee stouts like the Beer Geek Breakfast.
I also love the Breakfast Stout made by Founders, a brewery for the USA.
So I am quite sure I will love the Beer Geen Brunch Weasel, and when I am less short on cash like I am at the moment I might get it and post a review here for all the lagerboys to be disgusted by.

I am there right now, posting from my phone. They only had a Half and half mix with another stout, but it is pretty good. Never paid 100 Crowns for One beer before.
Lucky you!

I now have a legitimate argument to reinstate Prohibition back in the United States... and possibility the world.
You cannot pick and choose what to follow from your holy books. If you are truly a Christian, you must follow the bible by the letter. One read through Leviticus, where the disabled are barred from Church attendance, and homosexuals should be the least of your worry. It's the whole book or none of it, and to follow the whole book is to be immoral. So it goes.

I managed to find some info on the beer I had friday at Mikkeler. It was a bottled blend of half Beer Geek Brunch and half Amager Hr. Frederiksen (both categorized as Imperial Stouts). They also had some versions available that were conditioned in barrels previously used for Calvados and other stuff, but those were even pricier.
The blend (sorry for some Danish language in the description):

I can't really agree to most of the descriptions given by the raters in the first link, as I thought it was dominated by a tannin astringency normally not found in beer giving associations to old walnuts. After swallowing a few snifters a ryebread-like maltiness started to shine through in the aftertaste. It had a powerful bitterness (which I expected). The "Frederiksen" part is noted for 81 IBU (International Bitterness Units).
The bar itself was an awful experience for my part, but I suppose the hipster-yuppie "better than you" clientelle of this small overcrowded room were all having a great time. I did not utter a word to anyone there save for ordering the beer in spite that I can always strike up conversations with less stuck-up people in regular bars. I also kind of missed the time when the sorrounding Vesterbro neighbourhood was inhabited by sailors, prostitutes, criminals and drug addicts - ah, the good old days.
On my way home I decided to relieve myself of the brews water content on a prison wall. I hope that was hardcore enough when done from the outside. Then I got home I had a can of Marstons Oyster Stout, and was actually more pleased with this than the Weasel-Frederiksen. I got it on sale for 1/20 of the price for the same volume (half the alcohol though).
