I followed all the instructions, but when I launch the game the only thing that plays is Vanilla RTW.

I wonder if they just removed the '-mod:' switch from the exe. That's what it sounds like. I have it mind to do a little testing myself...

Nothing is wrong with "-mod" switch, works just okay for me.
Can't RS2 just be packed into a single 1Turn folder with only the "default" factions?
It should work that way on Steam?
If the -mod: switch was working correctly, then it should run RS2.....but people seem to be just getting vanilla instead. But you are right, and that's what I was thinking......a single 'all-in-one' campaign that just overwrites vanilla. You couldn't play the swap factions, but all the others should work. At least in theory.

Yes..theoretically. And then use Steam to launch RTW and not the RS2 Launcher.

Oh sweet, thanks .
I just bought RTW through Steam today and I'm going to see what I can do to fix this issue. Hopefully, I will be able to.

I am sorry......I did a bunch of experimenting yesterday, completely re-installing everything and making some changes I thought might work, but it still crashes. The custom battles seem to work, and that's all. I'm suspecting that the new Steam RTW is requiring that any mod used with it MUST be modfoldered, and RS2 isn't. Rather, it is modfoldered to itself. This is very disappointing, because correcting this could well mean that a large part of it will have to be re-written. But I'll keep trying.

You're a star, thank you very much for your efforts.
Freaking Steam. It would seem I'll have to redo more than just files that make it modfoldered. It won't recognize any of the new buildings we put in, and I think it's because the files are in the mod_0.pak instead of battle_open.pak. Just taking too much time, and I have to finish the settlements.

You could always just use a different exe, or is this against forum rules? :/
Its to my understanding that any exe before the patch should work.
What if we copy and paste the files from steam directory and put in another place (let's say, program files) like if it was "non-steam"?
Then just install RS II normally.
EDIT:Copy RTW Gold Edition folder and paste it in Program files.
