    Installation

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

I haven't encountered any "failed to find steam" issue that everyone is suddenly having with adding the patch for steam.

Once you have opened the file with any of these software's 7-zip or win-rar,

Copy and paste the files into the folder ""C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Gold\RS2"" folder that was created in the steps above.

Once you have placed them in the folder a window will pop up, asking if you want to merge the folders, make sure you click the box "do this for all current items (28 found)", then go on and click yes

    Visual Aid.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Step 2
After clicking yes you will get another window appear, here you must click the box ""Do this for the next 1405 conflicts"" then click Copy and Replace.

    Visual Aid.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Step 3
Then simply go to your steam library and start the mod up, you should have an already made shortcut in the library from following the steps from the installation for steam users,

When the game has loaded start a new campaign and to tell if it's worked you will be able to tell from ending your turn, you will then get your new turn information, and the icons will be new. (I was in the Roman campaign, so I'm not sure if it's changed for every other faction.

    Visual Aid.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

If by any chance you do get the "Failed to find steam" simply go to the top left tab of which should be named "steam" in the drop down menu it will say exit. After it's exited re-open it and then try the mod again.

    Faction's -mod lines.

According to your explanation I should make an extra TW-folder with all non tampered TW content. But that is nothing different from how the RS-team explain how to install the mod. If I do as the RS-team explain it I'll have one folder with a non tampered Rome TW and one folder with Rome TW and RS2.5 installed in it.

Your explanation is a bit difficult to understand.

-After, create a folder on your desktop, and install RS2 into that folder CHECK

-Then, go back into your RTW directory and create a folder called RS2 CHECK

-Then, go to your RTW backup and copy and paste everything NOT CHECK - what do you mean here? Copy and paste what? In the backup I have a non tampered Rome TW. So why should I copy and paste it all again in the same folder?

This is only a backup incase you go wrong, but it is needed so you can make it mod foldered. Plus it's mainly for steam.

Basically if you copy all of the rtw back up and then paste it in the RS2 folder that you made in the RTW directory. The reason for this is because on steam you need RTW.exe to be a different location to ensure it opens and works.

It's hard to explain, would you prefer if I added images??

I believe the saying is 'a picture is worth a thousand words'.....

A sequence of images should make it easier for some to understand (although I have experience of people ignoring the pictures). Not everyone has English as a first language.

No it's ok. I'm not going to do this I just wanted you to explain it some more. I understand that what you wrote in the reply to my post is what you meant in the part where I had written "not check". The sentence

is what you maybe should have added to start with. You didn't explain that thoroughly so it was hard to understand what exactly you meant by copying and pasting everything.

I guess your trick might be good for some members and guests. I'm content with having RSII in my original Rome TW folder.

Thanks for the effort in writing this up. It cannot hurt to have another method of installing RSII for Steam.

    Try it with no ":mod"

So it looks like this at the end of the target line.

    RS2/RomeTW.exe"

Hang on, I just realised I didn't make it clear - I use Steam, I am very sorry for not having mentioned, how would I get custom then?

this guide was intented for steam, so basically go into your library, go to your RS2 game, right click/properties/ in the target line it will look something like this

    for example
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Gold\RS2\RomeTW.exe" -mod:play_Gallaeci -show_err

    try changing it to this
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Gold\RS2\RomeTW.exe"

this basically run the RTW.exe in the RS2 folder, it might not work but just try anyway.
