Is it totally out of order if I welcome you to the Study? Nice too see you posting in the blog section, we need more people here. I have a feeling you are a good advert.

Never being a smoker there isn't much I can say, but I am glad to see they are working for you. And I wish you the best of luck in reducing how many you have. I guess the only thing I can say is baby steps, each day as it comes sort of thing.

Not at all, and I probably am good for traffic once in a while.

You can tell your entry's caused a bit of a stir among the staff here GED

Non-smoker here but I do have a similar story to tell on drink - which in turn makes this resonate with me a great deal. I was drinking a glass of scotch before bed daily at one point. Doesn't sound too bad until I tell you that my cup was about 3x what you'd get at a bar, and that at one point I couldn't sleep without it. I was also final year at uni. Thankfully that's not the case any more...

    Look forward to seeing more.

Can I say I am not surprised that you turned it into a business venture? From the little I have gathered it seems to be something you'd do.

And congrats on the blood oxygen saturation level, I hope it all continues to go well.

The business thing isnt a big deal for me, whether it succeeeds or not. I figured since I am going to be mixing stuff, it takes the same amount of time to mix a big batch as it does a small batch .And time is the one thing I never have enough of, so instead of throwing/giving it away, I might as well sell it since I already have people willing to buy it. At least on a trial basis.

If you mix in one gallon batches, thats 3785 ml. Figure you lose a bit in the mixing process, stuck to mixers, evaporated, whatever, and you end up with 3500ml. Break that into 50 ml bottles, which would be 70 individual packages.

    $15 per bottle x 70 bottles = $1050

Materials will run about $100 maybe, after you count ingredients and buying the little bottles. I will take a potential $900 profit on $100 any day of the week. For a couple of hours of work. Even if I sell them for $10 so the bars and stuff can resell them for $15, I come out way ahead.

I'm curious about selling it. Do you need some sort of FDA approval? I'd imagine there's all sorts of laws involving this.

Good luck quitting and better luck staying off the cigs. After I quit I would suck on pens and mechanical pencils for about a year and I still gnaw on plastic straws whenever I get them with drinks.

Good luck setting up your entrepreneurial venture as well!

You really don't like doing stuff in a half hearted manner do you...

What kind of things do you use to flavour these?

You dont even need that to sell cigarettes. These and hookahs are pretty much unregulated. You can even sell beer as a micro-brew without any special license, of course if you are selling it to the end user then you need a state issued liquor license.

Not really, you should know that from MC.

Candy oils and stuff like that. For the tobacco flavors there is a company selling tobacco extracts. The biggest concern is the base ingredient, which is vegetable glycerin. You have to use pharmaceutical grade, otherwise it can have far too many contaminents that can be absorbed into the blood. USP grade glycerin is a bit more expensive than typical glycerin, $40 a gallon vs $15 a gallon because of the processing method, but you have to do it right. And that is my main concern with buying stuff made overseas. They are always finding lead based paint and stuff like that coming from places overseas, even though they know they cant legally sell it here. Unfortunately they also know that nobody could possibly check every single item that is shipped into the country, so they cut corners. This makes me leary, and is also another reason I decided to make my own. This way I know excactly what is in it, and I will only buy ingredients made in the US.

Yet it was illegal for me to skateboard without a helmet until I turned 15.

So have you sold any yet?

And you can still ride a motorcycle in CO without a helmet.

Speaking of the homemade beer I mentioned earlier, this week is the Colorado Craft Beer festival in downtown Denver. Brewers from all over the country will be here, it really is big in CO.

I havent received everything yet, its a bit of a process to get set up as a distributor on the hardware side. Copies of business licenses and all that hooplah. But the brewing of liquid has been going on for a while, I will post some stuff on that soon. Some good results, some bad results, some mixed.

I have been smoking since about the age of 13 when I thought it was cool to steal cigarettes from the old man (thats Dad to you youngsters). Now I am over 40, and am still about a 2 pack a day smoker. At one time many years ago I was smoking anywhere from 3 to 5 packs a day. I like smoking, especially that after dinner cigarette, but I am certianly not getting any younger, and for the last few years I have really been feeling it. Especially in the morning as your lungs are trying to purge all the crap from them and you cough your head off for a few minutes.
I see people that age doing it near where I live. (13) quite astonishing, they are quite happy to just pop out a cigarette in front of random people lol.
