Thread: The Invasion of the Crownlands

Default The Invasion of the Crownlands

It was in the dead of night they came; those Essosi warriors from across the sea. They had sailed west, across the narrow sea, sailing far to the east of the Stormlands and Dorne before circling back towards the very edge of the Crownlands: The Peninsula of Cracklaw Point. The huge ships glided silently across the water, driven by slaves of all kinds. At the head stood their lord; a king in his own right, the master of this vast host of men. They disembarked silently, the various soldiers planting their feet firmly on the fine sand. Ghiscari Legions, Unsullied, Mercenaries, Dothraki... Even a few elephants were aboard the boats, waiting to disembark. The countless warriors began moving; the Dothraki went first, saddling up their horses to scour the lands of wealth and plunder, whilst the majority of the army prepared itself for the siege of Dyre Den. A small corp of fighters made their way towards the small castle of Dyre den, in order to surround the castle and set up a proxy siege that would herald the main hosts arrival. They swarmed about their duties, whilst the "Grand Prince" as he called himself was brooding. He was witnessing his huge force swarm the beach, surrounded by his many concubines. His teeth glittered like daggers in the moonlight as the invasion began.

Desperate times called for desperate measures, and it was not for nothing that Gruul and his band of Dothraki entered into the service of the Grand Prince, crossing the salt water to the lands of Westeros. The great plains of their homeland had grown barren, perhaps over-raided. Plagues and drought had taken their toll on the lamb people, and there was little worthwhile to do there. Now back on dry land, and his braided hair slapping his back behind him, reminding him he had never been defeated, he spured his party onward, looking for any cowardly iron wearers to kill.

Athos stood infront of his company of Unsullied. The eunuchs made for highly effective soliders. They were obedient to a fault. The former sell sowrd turned loyalist staed at the city. They should attack quickly and not give these savages time to respond.

Sweetport Sound was a silent feature in the night, the small keep looming over the silent settlement. The Dothraki had foraged further afield, ravaging much of the landscape of the northern Crownlands while the mercenaries and unsullied had prepared siege equipment. Slowly and silently did the ladders approach the walls, the crossbowmen killing off the sentries as the men made their way inside the city. Blood splattered over the cold, cruel castle walls as a guard's throat was slit; the gates silently opening to let the mercenaries and unsullied into the settlement proper. Screams were heard as houses went up in flames; a roaring pyre of the people of Sweetport. The shadows in the darkness made their way towards the keep, killing and burning as they went, ready to scale the keep and kill all inside.

This would happen to castles all over Cracklaw. Claw island had been taken by storm, with Dyre Den following soon after. The taking of this particular castle would pave the way for the annexation of all of Cracklaw.

Athos smiles as his scymitar slices thourgh a guards throat. He laughs as the bllods flies in the air. He and his unsullied push into the court yard cutting as they go. Carnage rains down on the enmy who are stumbleing from their bed. They can barely offer any resistance. His scymitar falls down claiming another life. How he relishes the battle. The thrill of fighting and killing someone. and laughig as he watches them die.

It was late evening when the Essosi approached Duskendale; they had ravaged the general countryside, and now the eastern host stood outside the walls. They begin the siege in earnest, constructing various pieces of equipment to help them breach the Dun Fort.

Duskendale had fallen after a long siege, the town being breached and the dun fort ruined by the invading forces. Women were raped, children massacred, men executed. None were spared in the brutal sacking of the settlement, and now, in the face of token opposition, the soldiers of the Grand Prince move for kings landing, planning to bypass all other settlements enroute, seeing as the regency had summoned little to no defence.
