    Vardis Toland

14 name days, born 136 AL

Born the sixth child of nine of the ancient Lord Casper Toland, and the only child of his third wife Gysella Jordayne, Vardis has been raised along with his brothers and sisters at Ghost Hill.
Although he was trained the same as his brothers, by the same teacher, he has shown more ability in the martial pursuits, possibly due more to his natural brooding melancholy and wrothful personality than any natural strength.

Ser Addam of Brass Tower, "The Knight of the Coppers"

"Ser" Addam used to work as a hired sword in the lowest part of King's Landing, the Flea's Bottom. He used to kick out drunks out of taverns, to patrol certain areas for shadowy people, to intimidate merchants, and all sorts of criminal duties

But one day, he got an offer to help smuggle Scooma. The profit was too good to be true, so he joined the deal. But when the new Commander of the Goldcloaks started investigating, he got rat out by his co-worker.

With certain death or prison as options if he stayed in King's Landing, he has decided to take off

Tristifer is very easy going unlike his father. He is pretty much the exact opposite of Arryn & a clone of Stannis. He almost never gets angry and he is always one for a good party. He is charismatic and smart and tries to avoid trouble though he isn't very successful at it. Tristifer is like a Jack-of-all-Trades. He's good at everything and great at nothing. He tries t always look on the bright side of things.

OOC Happy? I beg you don't have me do the skills on my phone.

    Rank: Freeman
    Skills (10)
    3 Duels
    3 Archery
    3 Field Battles

Askia of Bird Island used to be the son of a rich Summer Island trader, who practically owned all of Bird Island. Askia's father was assassinated by one of the local nobles, and Askia just barely managed to survive another assassinaton attempt a day later. He decided to flee the Summer Islands then, because he cared about his own hide pretty much. He somehow found himself in Dorne, and rapidly spent all of his money on clothes, food, booze, and that kinds of stuff. He now decided that he has to make the best out of his life.

    House Botley

    History
House Botley of Lordsport is a noble house from the Iron Islands. They've loyally served there Lord Paramont the Greyjoys for many years and there house has only grown. They own the regions of Harlaw, Great Wyk, and The Ten Towers.

    Main Characters

    Arryn Botley
    Age: 60
    Lord of Harlaw
Arryn Botley is a military genius and an expert duelist. He has trained in the art of dueling for a lot of his life, is an expert captain, and knows almost all there is to know in tactics. He is also quite smart, since he came into power House Botley has greatly increased in power and gained 2 new regions to lord over. Great Wyk was earned for showing courage in the wars with Dorne and bringing glory and gold to the Iron Islands, and the newest were the Ten Towers which he recieved in showing glory when the pirates attacked. (I will update this in the time line) He is old but there are very little wrinkles on his face and it's very pale. He has pure jet and Black Hair. He is always angry and always rude.

    Stannis Botley
    Age: 59
    Lord of Great Wyk
Stannis Botley is unlike his brother. His brother hates politics, when Stannis thrives in them. He almost always dealt with matters at Harlaw and he was much more charismatic then Arryn. He was given Lordship over Great Wyk and he was happy. After the Master of Ships was executed this was a new opportunity for Stannis, he was gunning for the position but before he could approach the king he was murdered. Stannis now resides in his court of Great Wyk.

    Tristifer Botley
    Heir to Harlaw
Tristifer is unlike his father. He is funny, charismatic, always cheerful, and he loves wine and woman. He reflects Stannis more then Arryn, but even though he loves to party he never forgets his duty. He is a good duelist and Sea Captain and is loyal to House Botley and his father above anything else.

    Lanius Botley
    Age: 15
    Heir to Great Wyk
Lanius is good looking and a cynical man. Surprisingly instead of being like his father Stannis Lanius leans more to Arryn. He is quite a cynical man and usually stays quite practicing his swordsplay and learning about the 7 kingdoms. He can usually be found in the practice field or in the Library reading any thing he can find.

    James Harlaw
    Age: 19
    Possessions: Valryian Sword Nighfall
James Harlaw is squire to Tristifer Botley and he carry's his family's Valaryian Steel sword. His family is close to the Botleys and they often work together. His father sent him to squire for the heir to Harlaw in hopes of winning there favor and gaining an alliance.

    Aux. Characters

    Jeyne Botley
    Age: 59
Jeyne Botley is the wife of Stannis Botley, and she has already been an Ironborn for so long she's been hardened beyond her years. She has Gray Hair and little wrinkles and she is fiercely protective and can fight.

    Arrya Greystark
    Age: 39

Arrya was married to Ramiel Greystark at the age of 25 and she's been in love with him ever since. She is more lady like then her mother but she still has that steel that all Ironborn carry. She is now raising her son Kilgore and is in the North with her husband. She has Black Hair with a pale with complexion.

    House Sunderland
    Virtue, Valour, Honour

House Sunderland are the unloyal, untrustworthy and ill-mannered vassals of house Arryn of the Vale.
They are lords of the three sisters, three islands who are located in the bite. Their ancestral seat is called Sisterton. Ironically, their motto is: Virtue, Valour, Honour. Most people believe that their motto was forced upon them by the Arryns to inspire a more chivalrous Andal culture on the Three Sisters.

House Sunderland is descended from the pirate kings who ruled the islands once. Nobody knows exactly when their house was founded, but they refer to the Arryns and the other nobles of the Vale as 'damned Andals'. This however has probably more to do with their own sistermen culture of sin and vice then the age of their house.
Once these islands were a free nation of pirates and smugglers before the Rape of the Three Sisters by the kingdom of the North. To get the wolves out, the sistermen bend the knee to the Arryns of the Vale. The Falcon and the Wolf fought for the Sisters for a thousand years. Leaving the islands completely destroyed and destitute.
The Sistermen soon returned to their usual habits of smuggling.

    Lord Rymund Sunderland
After a life of drinking and whoring, Lord Rymund has recently settled, for the first time in his life to a monogamous lifestyle. The lucky lady is not lady Sunderland, but septa Pyppa. Much to disdain of his children, because their mothers never had that courtesy. He has quite a few children, both bastards and true children. They all live with him in his seat. He was married twice, first to lady Tolett and secondly to lady Borell. He hasn't touched his wife in years. He also never leaves his island. If those Andals and other scum want to talk to him, they can come to him instead. He himself, claims to have no business with them. Preferring the company of smugglers, hedge knights, pirates and traitors to lords and knights. His own father was sent to the Wall by house Arryn.

    Moryn Sunderland
Moryn is the first, true born son of lord Rymund with is first wife and thus is heir. He is however, not the eldest son of Rymund. His older bastard brothers teased him a lot for this reason when he was little, but when he grew into a men, he made sure they didn't bother him again. He is a large man, with dark hair and a big beard.
He is unmarried, but has a least two known children already.

    Jeyne Sunderland
Jeyne grew up in Sisterton in the Sunderland household. Nobody knows exactly if she is a actually a Stone or a Sunderland, but she claims herself to be a true born daughter by lady Borell.

    House Royce of Runestone
    We Remember

    History
House Royce is one of the oldest Houses in Westeros, and of just a handful outside of the North directly descended from the First Men. Their home is the ancient castle of Runestone, in the Vale of Arryn, the name that region became known by after Ser Artys Arryn of the Andals slew the Griffin King and conquered his lands. None can say for certain why House Royce survived the Andal invasion. Some maesters have suggested that the Winged Knight took a Royce as his wife, and spared her father's House, but the men of House Royce maintain that their ferocity and the strength of their castle held back the very man who conquered the Eyrie. House Royce continued to serve the Kings of Mountain and Vale until they bent the knee to the Targaryens, and after that when the Arryns bacame Lords Paramount. Over the years, House Royce produced many great and honourable warriors, and many beautiful women, who would go on to marry some of the greatest Lords in Westeros.

    Main characters

    Lord Isaac Royce Age: 45 (b. 105 A.L.)
    Gender: Male
    Rank: Lord of Runestone
    Marital Status: Widower
Appearance: A bulky man, at his full height he stands at 6'3", but since the death of his wife he has appeared slightly hunched. His face, once strong and bright, now seems gaunt. He has dark brown eyes, a long nose, and thick black eyebrows which match his mane of tangled black hair.

Biography: At just eight years of age, both of Lord Isaac's parents passed away in the same year. The responsibilities of Lordship were left on his shoulders, and he quickly learned to hate them. As soon as he was old enough to become a squire, he appointed one of his father's most trusted friends, Fennis Tollett, as steward and left Runestone, becoming a well known knight before he turned eighteen. He fought in tourneys up and down the land, winning great renown. Much to his dismay, he was soon forced to marry by Fennis, who had found a good woman from a noble House. A suitable match, or so it seemed to everyone but Isaac, who resisted for as long as he could. Eventually, his older sister intervened. Lady Alanna locked herself in a room with him, and for two hours they talked. By the time they emerged, a beaming little Lady and a downtrodden Knight, Isaac reluctantly agreed to the marriage, and within a moon, he was married to Lady Janyt Florent.

For a time, he would avoid his wife, and was clearly uncomfortable in her presence, but slowly the pair grew closer, and by the time their first child was born they were madly in love. Over the course of the next twelve years, they had three strong children, and Isaac, with Janyt by his side, resumed his duties as Lord of Runestone, becoming a true diplomat thanks to her help. He was still a great warrior, as he proved in 138 A.L, when he joined the band under Brandon Stark which attacked the bandit leader Hyrbolt Cole and recovered Ice. Ten years later, he stood by his wife's bedside for weeks as her strength ebbed away. No maester could stop it, nor even work out quite what it was that was killing her, but in 148 Lady Janyt passed away. Since then, Lord Isaac has rarely been seen outside of Runestone, leaving his sons to attend feasts and events as representatives of house Royce.

    Ser Mattos Royce Age: 21 (b. 129 A.L.)
    Gender: Male
    Rank: Heir to Runestone
    Marital Status: None
Appearance: Ser Mattos stands at 6'1", a warrior who certainly looks the part. He has a thick, muscular body and a powerful, handsome face. He has the same long, wild black hair as his father, but also has a thick black beard.

Biography: A man of few words, Mattos prefers to let his blade do the talking, and it speaks with great eloquence. In battle he is graceful and deadly, a talented killer, though he is not fond of bloodshed. He is a man of honour, loyalty and restraint. Though he is ill suited to it, the running of Runestone has mostly been left to Mattos in recent years, after the death of his mother sent his father into seemingly unending grief. He firmly believes that House Royce's strong history means it can be counted among the greatest Houses in Westeros, and does not take kindly to insults to his family or House.

    Jeremus Royce Age: 15 (b. 135 A.L.)
    Gender: Male
    Rank: None
    Marital Status: None
Appearance: Jeremus stands at 5'10" and has short, black hair. He is thin and agile, with blue eyes and a boyish face which makes it seem he is ready to burst into laughter at any second.

Biography: Jeremus is smart, friendly, diplomatic and kind-hearted, with feet as quick as his mind. Sadly, he has never managed to use his quickness to good effect as a swordsman, and is an average fighter at best.

    Eleana Royce Age: 9
    Gender: Female
    Rank: None
    Marital Status: None
Appearance: Eleana is tall for her age, and is already being called a great beauty. She has dark eyes and flowing, lustrous black hair. She is slender and graceful, with a pretty round face.

Biography: A fairly reserved girl, Eleana is prone to quiet little smiles, and she rarely laughs. She can seem shy, a result of the praise she constantly gets for her beauty from the Lords who come to visit, praise she feels is undeserved (after all, she didn't do anything to earn it). Despite this, she has a great talent for making friends quickly. She loves reading and talking with her brother Jeremus, when he can spare the time.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    House Reed of Greywater Watch

    History

House Reed is one of the oldest and most faithful to the Starks of the North. They have a reputation for being somewhat barbarous, but they are in fact skilled hunters and warriors. Some even say that one in every twenty Reed children is born with the gift of being a warg or greenseer. They were bestowed these gifts by the Children of the Forest, a wise and noble people who have disappeared from Westeros. With the current instability, the ambitious Lord Sven Reed seeks to take advantage of the situation for the gain of the crannogmen.

Lord Reed and his direct family

    Lord Sven Reed

    Age: 31
Married: Yes, Lord Reed is married to Josephine Bog, a crannogman.
Description: Lord Reed, the only child of the dead Lord Harald Reed, is short for a crannogmen, being only slightly taller than five feet. He has startling black eyes that contrast his light brown hair and pale skin. A common myth by southerners is that crannogmen have green teeth because they eat frogs, but Sven’s teeth are just as white as any others. While his physical appearance makes Sven look like a weakling, he is extremely skilled with his trident, and is not a terrible shot with his hunting bow.
Personality: Sven, unlike his gregarious father, is solemn and has a quiet voice. But when he does speak, the room silences itself, as he almost always has something insightful to say. Sven does have an attraction to alcoholic beverages, and it is when he indulges himself to much that his comments on the situation are not necessarily the most helpful.
    Skills:
    (2+2+2+2=8 skill points)
    +2 Archery
    +2 Survival
    +1 Assassinations
    +2 Escape
    +1 Duel
    +1 Siege Battles

    Olaf Reed

    Age: 12
    Married: No
Description: Olaf is the oldest child of Sven and Josephine is 4’1”. He has blue eyes like his mother, and received light brown hair from his father. So far in his youth, Olaf does not like to wield weapons, and instead walks alone through the ever changing marshland that is the neck.
Personality: Like his father, Olaf is quiet and observing. While not much can be determined at such a young age, he does not have use these traits so that he can make important decisions later. When Olaf is at Greywater, he spends all of his time either in the kitchens, or poring over some dusty tome that no one has bothered to read since Aegeon’s landing.
    Skills:
    (2)
    +1 Survival
    +1 Escape

    Howland Reed

    Age:51 DEAD
    Married: No

Description: Howland, brother to former Lord Harald Reed, is like his brother when it comes to his crude personality, and almost never being sober. The similarities stop their.

Unlike almost all other crannogmen, Howland is a normal sized human, being just over six foot. He also has jet black hair with striking blue eyes. Due to his physical abilities compared to other marshmen, Harald has been the general of Neck forces since he reached his eighteenth name day.

Personality: The myth of frog eaters is not entirely untrue. When Howland heard of this tale, he decided to eat a few frogs to see how they tasted. He continues to eat them to this day, as well as whatever his men dare him to eat. Howland even created his own alcoholic beverage with frog juice for the fun of it.

    Stats:
    +5 survival

    Karl Reed

    Age:24
    Married:No

Unlike Howland, Karl is of an average height, which is small for the outside world. He also has green eyes and brown hair.

Karl grew up with his father, so he spent all of his childhood learning how to fight like a true crannogman. At 18, Karl decided to see the world, so he departed from Greywater. From the Neck, he traveled to the Twins, and eventually even made his way down to Dorne. On his travels, Karl even ventured beyond the wall. Now he has come back to civilized land, but his heart still yearns for adventure.

    Jon Bog

    Age: 28

While Jon is Lord Sven's brother in law, he could pass of for his twin. The people of the Neck are so isolated that almost all people are related to one another and most look similar with a few exceptions like the deceased Howland Reed.

    New Rule:

Player and character names have to be reasonable. I never thought I would have to actually tell people this, but names that make sense are a must.

Jason, for example. Jason Mallister was in In Canon character, that name is fine.
John. Pushing it, but it seems reasonable.
James. Ditto. Seems very out of place. Advised to be changed
    Mace. That's fine
Eddard instead of Edward, things like that.

Sirius? Albus? No. This isn't Harry potter. Please stick to believable names. We will hopefully be able to enforce this rule. If you can find a "Lord Sirius" then you can have that name.

Also: Descriptions are a must. We don't mind if you keep a Work in Progress until you cook something up, but we prefer if your characters have a nice elaborate backstory.

    Alynne Snow
    Freedman
    Age 17
Alynne was a young girl born to a whore in White Harbor. When she was just six her mom died of the pox and she was forced to go to the streets. She began living off of begging. She quickly learned she would need more if she was to be able to survive Herr. So she learned how to steal. Over the years she has gained a reputation as the go to person if you are hungry and need food. She verry rarely keeps the money for her self more often she will give away her money to help the poor. She only takes if she knows pepole can spare it. Unfortunately many lords believe there money is better served resting in vaults so she is labeled a criminal.

    Elyas of Woodstock

    b. 134 AL , 17 name days

Elyas was born in Woodstock, a small hamlet a ways outside King's Landing, along the Blackwater,
to a young landowner's daughter who was raped by a discharged Braavosi mercenary.

Out of the good in their hearts, his mother's family loved him nonetheless, and raised him in their household.
He spent his childhood farming, like any peasant, and learning to hunt with Woodstock's huntsman.

The recent uprising took many, most rather, of Woodstock's peasants, with only Elyas and a few others around.

    Syvald "Fairhair"

23 years old, born 128 AL

Born on the island of Old Wyk to a man named Harras the Hare, who was known for both his harelip and his speedy skill at the Finger Dance,
Syvald was raised in one of the more rural areas of the Iron Islands, which, simply entails even more drunken feuds, inbreeding, and brutality than normal.

As one may guess, his epithet speaks of his abnormally fine hair.

    History
Harras the Hare eventually started a squabble by raping Thorm the Fisherman's pretty daughter, and was in fact stabbed by Thorm while in the act.
As all feuds go, this started a fight which quickly embroiled an entire three villages, whose inhabitants had formed into an intricate web of blood relations due to the inbreeding.

Syvald's oldest brother Dagos burned Thorm and his first son alive inside their own home, and took his daughter as his wife. Then, Thorm's brother Urron came over from the neighboring village and did the same to Dagos, taking the girl as his wife.
But no, it doesn't stop there:
Syvald's other brother Kern in turn killed Urron, taking the girl as his wife. By this time, the girl was ready to give birth; to whose child is unknown.
Then, Thorm and Urron's cousin Wick and his friends come over to Syvald's family home, and burn it to the ground, and this time, kill Kern and the pregnant girl.
Syvald then finishes the feud by killing Wick and his brothers each in individual Finger Dances, one after the other.

Syvald then became the head chieftain of the three villages.
