I think it would be fair on HB and Hengest if anyone who was willing rolled an aux into this thread for the purposes of a short RP and a vote on new Archmaester, so that those two can start their Citadel vs Royal University thing. Go for it Gobelina, all we're really aiming for is a fair player-run election of the Grand Maester. Once that happens I'll be abandoning Archmaester Cedric as a character: the only commitment I'm asking is for a player Archmaester conclave to elect either HB's or Hengest's characters.

The table is already well furnished, cloth covering it, plates, glasses, silverware and food inhabit the four-legged structure. It is a feast with lit candles and steaming food. Four chairs besiege the table on two fronts same chairs as he noticed before with upholstered backs.

Actually the with upholstered backs part still kinda bugs me. I think the ones with upholstered backs fits better, as you can tell you are linking to the chairs that way. Right now it kinda reads like you have an upholstered back when you notice the chair.

Pretty good, but I do see some grammar issues besides the correction that Trot made (the semi-colon).
However, proper grammar is often ignored in literature and writing, so it's fine.
(Stream of consciousness does it, for example, and so do most fanciful writing styles)

So yeah, the only issue was the 'run-on' sentence that Trot fixed with a semi-colon.
You can't have a sentence run on like that, as stating where the chairs are and then describing them are two different thoughts.
(Although, they can be merged)

Here's an example, using Trot's post ( ) :
