On top of what Xion already said, the person you are trading with must have an open trade slot, with a maximum of 3 slots per House, unless you have a province that can allow you a third trade route. An example of this is Oldtown which gives you a fourth trade slot.

By now most people will probably have full trade slots but there may be a few free ones left.

Edit this would be a really good time to jump start the war of five kings.
The reach and the iron isles are on the verge of war war in the vale. Say the king and his heir die (no offense lucias but with your activity level lately You would be a bad king in a war like that.) So he leaves LD's baratheons king giving gandy a reason to rebel and LD forces to fight a war with. Darne is already in a pretty bad state last i checked The north and the Riverlands join in where ever say Bonez crowns himself and the riverlands fight for Ld to become king and bam we have the trouble we were looking for anyone else like this idea?

Actually I know that there will be two alliance constellations at the moment, involving my character if the the war is going to start:

Dragonstone - Harrenhall - Winterfell - (possibly the rest of the Riverlands)
under King Alester Baratheon

and
Storm's End - Highgarden
under King Steffon Baratheon and Queen Alerie Baratheon

As far as I understood King Robert II. Baratheon will only turn out as a tyrant and to my knowledge this hasn't changed. I still hope that he gives Alester a reason to hate him like executing his mother for crazy reasons and that Steffon will also have a reason to break the link between the other Baratheons.
So I think there won't be a king in the North as far as I have understood Bonez, talking about the soon wedding between Cersei Stark and Alester (yeah, love between cousins <3).
But maybe the Riverlands, Dorne, the Vale or the Westerlands try to become independent (and Arryn, Martell and Lannister have the possibilities to crown themselves if they want to),
Greyjoy will definitly go the Old Way. Don't know what the other players planned so far, but at the moment we have 4 possible Kings of future Westeros.
