Steam and RTW issue

So this mod requires Alexander? Then I have a slight problem.

I already own the RTW Gold Edition. The safest, easiest and probably even the cheapest way to get the Alexander is to get it from Steam (since it is no longer found in retail stores and internet auction sites are less safe and internationally posting isn't cheap). Problem is that it no longer supports the retail RTWs, so I can't get the Alexander working. And I don't want to buy the same game twice!

So is there a way to get the files ''out'' of the Steam, if the game is bought but not installed?

i got mine as a download from gamestop. you buy the code at the store then go home, enter the code on the gamestop site, download, and install. so far it has worked perfectly.
