Default Preview dHRR 0.9: A New World

We proudly present you the new map of dHRR!

This is the next logical step in the Western Europe focused mod dHRR is. We have cut all regions that just eat up hard-coded ressources, such as province slots and faction slots, and added what became free where we need it: in the center of our map.

The size of this map is 371x510, what is twice as large as the old dHRR map. Of course, all 199 possible province slots have been used.

    Distribution of provinces is:

Germany inculding Burgundy and eastern Marches: 60 provinces
    France: 50 provinces
    British Isles: 25 provinces
    Italy and N-Africa: 32 provinces
    Rest: 32 provinces

For comparison, provinces in France (both pics 1:1 scale from map_regions):
    old map

    new map

This map allows us to clearly focus on the two major conflicts in Western Europe during our time frame:

The conflict on the Holy Roman Empire, fought in Germany and Italy.
And the conflict on the Angevine Empire fought in France and England.

Both, so we think, complete black holes in M2TW modding. Needless to say, that on this map we are able to realize all kind of projects that wouldn't be possible on a map stretching all the way down to Jerusalem.

Of course, with so many factions being thrown out, a lot of new will make it. Here is a (not final) list of new factions:

    1. Carinthia
    2. Tuscany
    3. Savoy
    4. Aquitaine
    5. Toulouse
    6. Blois
    7. Anjou
    8. Brittany
    9. Flanders

And a few postcards from the new dHRR:

Poland. It lost a couple of land in the east, but gained a province.

Province ownership and settlement names outisde Germany are of course not final.

This needs to be tested. The distances between neighbouring settlements is not seriously larger than before, but the distance between the regions is.

Because they are there (the map needs to cover all of Sicily)

Yes, of course. All factions that had been in these regions in dHRR 0.8 will also be there in dHRR 0.9 (save for Sweden). This also inculdes Hungary and Poland.

    Scotland yes, Ireland definitly not.

Wales is under discussion. We have for now decided against it because it not was an united faction in 1080 and we wouldn't have any concepts to implement it in our system of "consititutions". Therefore we have for now decided to implement Blois-Champagne instead, what has the advantage that it doesn't need much extra work being another northern French faction.

May be, in a later version, if we decide that one or the other faction is obsolete, and if we have a true expert on Wales in the High Middle Ages in our time, we might get Wales in.

We are now working on Germany, and each province has at least one title, and the majority even have four of them (two feudal counts, a bishop, and a Gaugraf). This is plus titles like dukes, count palatines, and of course the emperor.

Will family members be able to hold multiple titles at a time? Becouse, if not, there will be a huge amount of vacant titles, I think.

Yes, of course. That's the background behind having so many different titles. But also would never have access to all of them at a time.

Will it be possible to grant them more then one title? In 0.8 a family members only can get more than one title through inherit it from another house-member. Would be great if this restricition could be removed.
