    Icon9 Application load error

So I decided to reinstall Empire and DarthMod 8.0 on my brand new computer, but I just ran into this problem.. When I try to launch DarthMod Empire through the launcher, it says that empire launched successfully but immediately after, this error message pops up: Application load error 5:0000065434

Check your computer is able to play Empire Total war (check the official requirements contents box below)
My computer is definately able to play Empire

Reinstall DME 8.0 and try again, if this does not work, proceed to the next step
I want to see if there's a fix to my problem before I do this

Make sure you have a clean playable (please test it by playing a full turn of a campaign) vanilla version of Empire Total War, so that we know the problem is with DME and not your vanilla setup.
Vanilla works perfectly. I set the launcher to preload(?) Darthmod 8.0, and when I launch Empire, the very fist loading screen is a Darthmod loading screen, but after that everything is vanilla

Also, please make sure you installed the mod correctly!!! Sounds basic but you never know...
To my knowledge, the installation was successfull

Then describe in a much detail as you can the problem that you suffer.
    I run Windows 7 64bit, on a radeon HD 7950, i7 core etc etc
Darthmod simply doesn't start, there is no problem with empire itself.
    Here is the DME log:

I'm not sure how to edit my post..
anyway, here is a screenshot of the error message

It seems it might be a problem with steam and not the download, but steam works with all my other games, including empire

You would never have a problem with Steam and Empire, would you?

Your only chance is to disable the auto start in Settings menu, and after the launcher prompt start the game manually.

Never had a problem with steam and Empire, no. If I preload DME, I get the same error if I try to launch Empire through the desktop icon, but it works perfectly if I launch it through steam.
How would I go about disabling the auto start setting exactly? I'm not very tech savvy
Under the settings tab, the only options are "enable restore mode" and "launcer audio > on - off"

I just got a message with the solution!

Start up the launcher as normal, pick your options, then press the "start" button. When the error message pops up, press "x" to close it, don't touch the launcher anymore, but go straight onto steam and start Empire from there. Darthmod starts up perfectly

I as of right now have a similar issue. I moved the steam folder from the drive it was on, back to its normal drive. I still have all the data that means it's installed, but, on steam it says I don't have it installed. When I try to click on the application in the folder, I get the Application load error 5:0000065434

Came back to Empire after about 2 or 3 years of silence just to see the game not load when I want to play it with Darthmod...

I can validate the fix proposed by Mr. Hammer - the error one gets with the launcher seems peculiar

checked again and no, it actually didn't work as things like Darthmod-sounds and graphics aren't in the game...

    Edit :

To any restless soul who met the same fate : don't hesitate to install version 8.0.1 over the 8.0 release, leave auto-run disabled, the launcher running in the background and start up the game.

I had the same thing happen, except it told me that the software that was used to create Darthmod was out of date and couldn't be used! Haha, damn gaming hiatus.
