They made the Carthagen elephants look like Indian/Asian elephants. In reality they were North African elephants. Sub-species of the southern African elephants.

N. African(Hellenic Egypt) + Indian breed(Seleucids)
It should look like the one on the left. They were smaller than both the Indian elephants and African bush elephant. They looked like smaller African bush elephants.

Meh, Indian ones are bigger - for all intents and purposes they may have bought some.
I mean who doesn't love big elephants on the battlefield? I felt like a Mumakil driver in Rome 1 when I sent the armoured Elephants in. Such fun!

Carthaginians used Indian elephants as well . As for their mahouts in one of his accounts Polybius mentions they ( including african elephants) were drived by Indians. Ive just opened a thread In Vestigia Vetustatis for this matter

I'm not arguing the physiological make up of the elephants - I'm saying that the usage of Indian ones by Carthage is a good thing, adds to the overawe factor more.

Perfect, but it lacks the plumes on the helmets, they were a feature of Italic pepople (Oscans, Latins etc,)
Please take a look at my Reference painted reconstruction !

You are a great artist, mine are not criticals for your works !!!
and I own that Osprey book (but I don' like it very much....it disappointed me a little bit ), but the drawer forgot that in the tip of these helmets there is a hole in which the warriors inserted long plumes to appear taller to scare enemies !!!
the shirt is too tight under the armpits.
It's nice to see that you are all so interested in elephant anatomy!
Great works BTW!
can you make a Dacian warrior with actual clothing not with the generic tunic. See the freezes from Trajan Column to see the clothing.
The flaw with all these depiction is that wariors are featured with a generic single piece tunic but in reality the clothing articles were more intricate than that made of various parts hold together by accesories or just big sheets of fabrics that were folded.

and in battleline formation 6 rows deep both CENTURIAE beside, maybe in Cannae - formation 24 rows to 12 rows or an saw formation with only 3 rows in battleline. And please 10 Hastati MANIPULI in an LEGIO (Polybios).
