Thread: Taiheiki

  1. #1

    Default Taiheiki

    DESCRIPTION

1336. Japan has just recovered from the downfall of the Kamakura Shogunate and Hojo Regency. Aided by various warriors (including Ashikaga Takauji), Emperor Go-Daigo has recovered the old powers of the Emperors of the Heian Period, before the rise of the samurai. But now, even the Emperor's most loyal warriors have forsaken him and his ancient, outdated ways. In an act of defiance, Ashikaga Takauji proclaimed himself Shogun and established his own Imperial Court, exiling Emperor Go-Daigo to the southern province of Yamato. Now Japan is divided between the clans loyal to the exiled Emperor Go-Daigo and the 'Southern Court' that he has established in Yamato; and the forces following the new Shogun, Ashikaga Takauji, hoping to seal the warriors' power in the nation.

    THANK YOU AND FAREWELL
Thank you for downloading this mod. Many hours of work have gone into providing a fun experience for myself and for other Total War Shogun 2 players. It is a great honour that you are playing my mods and, if you haven’t already, be sure to check out my other campaigns for Shogun 2. However, I must announce that I am retiring from Shogun 2 modding. Many people probably assumed this was the case during my long period of inactivity. But this is officially the end of the Hayabusa mod series. It is very unlikely that my mods will be patched in the future.* So, thank you to everyone who has downloaded, played and enjoyed my mods. You guys are the best!

*Game-breaking bugs might be addressed if I feel up to it. But minor issues will probably be overlooked.

And, now that I've finished updating Tenka Fubu to be compatible with the Otomo DLC and Optimization patch, I can focus on this - it should be done in no time

You sure are becoming productive Hayabusa-dono! This is a very good sign.... we just might....kidnap you and tap your services for a Sengoku Basara mod.

Lets hope this is warmly received by others, and recognize that hey, more depth and historical mods are being released instead of stat and trait changes....

(Its clickable by the way....An S2 overhaul mod.)

Seriously. Click it. Its the only overhaul mod that's overhauling enough to bring out NEW clans

Hi guys, just a quick update.

Unfortunately, Rise of the Ashikaga may be delayed by a couple of weeks for a few reasons. Firstly, there are a heap of RL things going on around Christmas, so I'll probably be taking a break from modding for a couple of weeks. Also, I've been in discussion with Durruti1936 here on the TWC Forums about extending the Rise of the Ashikaga Campaign and moving the start date back a few years to include the events of the Genko War. This will make the campaign much more enjoyable as you play out the downfall of the Minamoto Shogunate and Hojo Regency.

If I do include the Genko War, however, it will mean making new clans, etc. so I've removed the % counter from the OP.

    Hey guys!

I'm in need of some ideas. The new campaign starts in 1330, which is before the North and South Courts split apart (1336). I need to think of a way to implement this in-game. I was thinking of having the North and South Courts start as allies and then put in a line of code in the scripting.lua that would force them to declare war on each other in 1336. Then the Southern Court loyalists (who would be directly allied to the South Court) and the Northern Court loyalists (who would be directly allied to the North Court) should be forced to choose which side to take.

This is just an idea at the moment though, I'm not sure how well it will work in practice. Has anyone else got any ideas on how I can solve this small dilemma? All help welcome

Hmmm... perhaps using the realm divide to gradually have it fill from 1330 to 1336 and when it happens it causes a choice option (like choosing the the harvest option to give back to the people or stockpile it) whatever one you choose will cause you to have negative diplomacy for the other or just straight out war the other side.

    Hi!

Tricky one I'm not sure I have the answer to. The risk with using the actual 1330 starting position is that the Hojo regency might triumph and you may never get a "Rise of the Ashikaga". Perhaps it might be easier to just have a generalised starting position that combines elements of the Genko and Nanboku-cho wars? When I attempted a Gempei historical mod I had to make some compromises as I couldn't find information on which clan was dominant in a few provinces.

Alternatively the "Taiheiki"/"Warriors of Japan" boardgame uses spring 1335 as the start date so the brief recapture of Kamakura by the surviving Hojo is covered (Takatoki's son Tokiyuki who escaped the destruction of 1333 and later joined his former enemy, Go-Daigo, taking part in the Nanboku-cho war).

Anyway I hope the info and suggestions I've thrown out are useful but of course it's your mod and I can't wait to give it a go Added your banner in support...

Ok, so I'm liking the sound of a 1335 start date. It allows for a North-South allegiance at the start of the campaign as well as including the Hojo (which is something that I really wanted). I'm even thinking of adding the Hojo to the playable clans to attempt to regain lost glory!

But anyway, I love maps, and I know you all do too. So here's some that I made up for a 1335 campaign:

    The Clan Map:

    The Allegiance Map:*

*Note: This particular allegiance map is if no clans are neutral. I've assigned a court to every clan attempting to be as historically accurate as possible, whilst also trying to maintain gameplay balance. In the end, I may choose to have 'neutral' or 'unaligned' clans thrown into the mix.

EDIT: Clans that I'm considering to be playable (6 possible):
    Main List
    • Ashikaga
    • Hatakeyama
    • Hojo
    • Hosokawa
    • Kitabatake
    • Nitta

    Other Considerations
    • Imagawa
    • Kikuchi
    • Ko
    • Nawa
    • Ouchi
    • Shiba
    • Takeda
    • Uesugi
    • Yamana
