Which is it 6th or 5th?"The 6th Epleketoi sir!" Theseus said looking directly ahead. Agisipolis turned to face his officers.
"Who is commander of the sixth Eplekitoi?" He asked in a stern voice....
"Well the 5th is camped on the northwest side of the camp
oops... thank you for finding that.
Its the 6th

Are the epleketoi the equivalent of principles?
I just downloaded rsII again but I'm finding it hard to get into it (I think the last time I played it was version 2.0)
Chapter10:A Long Night
568AUC
Theseus wandered by himself through the encampment while he was on patrol waiting to be relieved. He could still smell fires which were moments away from dieing out and he could see his breath in the light of the moon and stars overhead.
The camp was quite exept for a few snores here and there, his armor was frosted over a bit from the cold night weather so he decided in his boredom to draw little figures into the frost.
"Cold out tonight", said a voice behind him, Theseus was startled and jumped a bit hoping whoever it was hadnt seen him doodling on his armor.
"Yea, Demeter never has a problem letting us know her resenment of Hades does she." Theseus replied as the figure of another legionaire approached him from behind.
When he came into veiw he noticed it was Athiates, Memnons 2nd in command of the regiment and standard bearer.
When Theseus recognized who it was he snapped to attention, but Athiates just put up a hand.
"No need to do that, Memnons the commanding officer." He said as he walked up beside Theseus and glanced up at the night sky. They just stood there for a moment not saying a word untill Theseus broke the silence.
"Can I ask you something?" He said looking over at Athiates who still looked into the night sky as if he were waiting for something. He just nodded at Theseus then turned back to the eternal blackness above.
"how did Memnon get his scar?"
Theseus knew right away that it wasnt Athiates' favorite subject in the world, but he just exhaled and turned to Theseus, his silver legionaire helmet glinted by the moon, and kept his face hidden in darkness.
"Youve heard of the siege of Kydonia?" He asked, Theseus nodded his head.
"Kydonia is where the legion suffered its greatest casualties, I lost both of my brothers in that seige and Memnon..he lost much more.."
Theseus diddnt say anything he just kept listening.
"Memnon and his son were leading a charge down the main street of the city where a bunch of rebels and a few hoplites were waiting to make a desperate last stand, I was right behind them. Memnon charges forward ahead of the regiment and broke rank, his son trying to pull him back was struck by a javilen. Memnon turned back and saw his son lying on the ground and cradled him in his arms, then a Kretan rushed forward and swiped his sword across Memnons face." Athiates explained looking at Theseus who was staring back intently.
"After Memnon went down we surged forward to protect him and his son, but the Kretans drug his son away before we could get there.. they were just too far away, and we couldnt break rank. Memnon blames himself for his sons death, and he wears his scar as a reminder to never forget his shame. We never saw his son agian, Memnon tried to get the 6th to turn every house on its side to find his body but nothing could be done." he said as he finished
"I was like you once, full of life, had alot of friends, a woman.." Athiates said with an angry tone but with a hint of sadness.
"What happened?" Theseus asked
"War.. war took my brothers, my friends, and made my girlfriend think I was a monster because Id sometimes dream I was fighting and Id wake up on top of her with my hand around her neck." He said aas though he was almost about to cry.
"I hope things turn out differently for you Theseus, I like you.. but war has a way of turning those of the purest heart, into someone of hate, and bad memories that just never stop haunting you."
Theseus just took in his words and placed a hand on his shoulder and turned to look up at the stars once more.
"By the way, Im here to relieve you.." Athiates said as he too turned back toward the stars which offered a temporary peace in their beauty.

Chapter11:The second Greco-Macedonian War
Part 1
568AUC
Mitiades woke to the smell of food being cooked outside the tent he and his friends were assigned. He sat up on his bedding and took in the morning air, smoke from fires, odors of cooking foods, and the sound of men talking all around him.
Theseus breached the opening to the tent with a pot that was steaming as if he had just taken it off the fire.
"Good morning." he said as he came in and sat beside him and started digging around in his field pack.
"Good morning" Mitiades replied as he streched and arose from his pallet on the ground.
"want some breakfast?" Theseus asked him as he filled up his bowl that he pulled from the pack beside him.
Mitiades looked over at the steaming pot and peared inside noting that it diddnt look like something to be considered edible, but he was hungry and diddnt fuss over it. After all they were in a military incampent and at war.
"Praxinos made it, its not too bad." Theseus said as he started shovling in the lumpy stew. Mitiades then filled up his field kit and also started eating, Theseus was right, it wasnt bad at all.
moments later Mitiades noticed that the ground would shake for a half second every once in a while and hear a distant boom off in the distance.
"Do you feel that?" He said as he put a hand to the ground.
"Feel what?" Theseus asked looking up from his food. Just then it happened agian and Theseus noticed it that time.
"Whats going on." Mitiades and Theseus arose and looked out of the tent, they saw soldiers dressed in their battle gear running around, officers were screaming to get them into marching formation.
"Did we miss something?" Theseus asked as he looked over at Mitiades.
"I dont think so." just then another boom could be heard off in the distance except this time it was louder scince they were outside.
"Look at that!" Cried a soldier infront of them and pointed in the direction of Pharsalus.
Mitiades and Theseus ran out of the tent and gazed in the direction he was pointing and they saw the a part of the city ablaze. Every once in a while they would get a veiw of a flaming projectile zooming through the buildings then disapearing with a loud boom and a surge of smoke.
"Gods.." Mitades muttered under his breath. "The citizens.." Mitiades smacked Teseus on his arm and nodded his head towards the tent. A silent agree came between them and they rushed back in to strap on their armour.
It was hard to concentrate on his thoughts with the screaming and yelling all around him, and the delayed booms of yet another Macedonian projectile entering into the city. He knew that with each sound that it could be another Greek life lost.
Just then a man breached the entrance to their tent and entered yelling
"Come on boys, move it, lives are being lost!" The man who Mitiades recognized as Memnon was sreaming at them under the shade of the tent.
"The regiment is forming at the gate with the rest of the army, now move it!." On that he left abruptly and Mitiades heard him move on to the next tent and repeat the same message.
-----------
More and more sounds of Macedonian catapults hitting their targets rang through the air as Mitiades and Theseus ran at full speed in their full battle gear to link up with the rest of the army. When they reached the 6th regiment they found Praxinos standing with the regiment getting his armour in check when they walked up on him.
"Hey Praxinos." Mitiades said as he and Theseus jogged up next to him, it startled him a bit but Praxinos just turned and smiled.
"Glad you could make it, was beginning to think you guys ran off." Praxinos said in a jokingly matter.
"Your making jokes..right now..." Theseus said as he looked at Praxinos angerly.
Praxinos just shrugged and straightend the pin hold his crimson cloak around his shoulders.
"Nevermind.. lets just get in formation" Mitiades said as he motioned for his friends to fall in with him. They sat there for a few moments untill Memnon came over and started talking to the regiment.
"Alright boys listen up, what we hear is that the Macedonians have taken control of half of the city. The king and his son have taken the 1st, 3rd, and 5th regiments of eplekitoi into the city, he has sent his orders back from the front for the 6th, 2nd, and 4th regiments of Eplekitoi to report to the east gate and try to knock out the Macedonian positions there, after that the sixth will proceed up the mainstreet to take back control of the Agora." Memnon said as he stood on top of a wooden stool so to see everyone.
"There were 240 men in the 6th, how are we supposed to old the entire Agora", Mitiades thought to himself.
Memnon continued to say, "The kings troops he already has in the city are fighting a tough battle at the western gate and at the governers palace, the wounded are still coming in and we havent recieved anymore word from our sister regiment, the 5th. We believe they went missing at the Agora, because that was their last reported position before we lost contact, so our orders are simple take the agora, and try to find the 5th.. dead or alive, were going to get them home. Move out!" Memnon then signaled for the regiment to advance.
Then they were off to battle, marching straight at a city where Mitiades could still see flames an flaming rocks hurtling through the air and striking buildings with a deep booming sound. All Mitiades could think of when he was marching was Mia and how glad he was that she was in Athens far away from this nightmare he was walking into.

Chapter 11:The Greco-Macedonian wars.568AUC
Part 2
The noises of Macedonian artillery pummeling the city grew ever louder as the rest of the army marched to link up with the kings forces that he already took into the city. Apparantly the king had placed spies inside the city to report to him incase the Macedonians decided to march on it, So the king seceretly took 3 regiments of eplekitoi and his beloved Marines into the city to meet the Macedonian army that was reported marching that way last night.
That was the rumor going around the formation as the troops marched anyway.
Theseus couldnt help but stare at the city growing closer with each step and think that he might die in the coming fight. Strangely though he wasnt afraid, mostly he had a pain inside his gut, but it wasnt fear, he was excited to finally be going into combat, he has been training for this ever scince he first left Athens 3 months ago.
As Theseus neared the southern gate, which was under the legions control, he could see medic tents littering the ground infront of the walls. Theseus also finally noticed flaming projectiles flying the opposite direction of the ones destroying the city. It seems the legions stone throwers have made it inside the gate and took up position just inside the city.
It was conforting knowing that the Macedonians now also have to worry about being pummeled to death by flaming rocks.
"Sixth regiment, Halt!" Theseus heard Memnon scream who was 5 men infront of him. Theseus had been so focused on watching the action in the city that he hadnt noticed that they had reached the southern gate.
The medic tents were littered with soldiers, some of them even went through the training camp with him, Theseus saw some field surgeons sawing a mans leg off just outside a large tent a few feet away from him. Other had bandages around their heads or had arms in slings or were just sitting outside of the tent leaning on one another trying to hold each other up untill it was their turn to see a surgeon.
"Gods.. you think we might be sitting there like that soon?" Praxinos said as he too was staring at the miserable legionaires. One of them looked up and managed a weak smile, Theseus just gave a sorryful smile back and turned back to look infront of him.
"Id rather choose death then face a surgeons saw." Theseus thought to himself,
Just then Memnon motioned for the regiment to advance once agian, the regiment was too march around the city and head for the eastern gate where the first division of Marines were battling some Thracian mercenaries.

nice storyline, I quite like it
Sorry for bumping. I like the idea of spartan legionaries and the story is not bad either. I just hope you continue to update it whenever you got time and feel for it. I think I will follow this AAR.![]()
I am glad you like it, ive been busy with my job in the Corps and been trying out new mods so I kinda forgot I had this AAR. I do intend to continue it however, though it will be at a later date.

good update evalation. the only thing I can say is: check and edit. You have a few grammatical mistakes thats all.
I have this trick where I always read what I write out aloud. If it sounds funny or tedious then you know you should change the structure of the sentence.
You asked me if you should approach it differently. All I have to say is, you are writing in 3rd person, so you should take advantage of the format. Like for example, if theseus is about to walk into a disaster unawares, you could end the update with: the spartans approached the gates slowly, oblivious to the crows gathering overhead...
or something that just gets the reader excited for the next chapter. Like you wrote : "where the first division of Marines were battling some Thracian mercenaries." which is ok but it doesn't get me excited or anticipating the net chapter as much you know?
