While waiting for Mhaedros to code in all the factions, I decided to revamp the Rus' roster since I found that I made a LATE era roster.
Here's what I found in the lands of the Rus';

(Don't mind the old captain, or the bad normal maps - gotta fix those)

Here are more Rus' warriors - the gridni. These are junior members of the druzhina, picked for their valour and strength in arms, who guard the palace and the Great Prince himself. They are the strongest defensive infantry the Rus' prince will get.

They're more of an "eastern" style rather than full on Islamic. At our date trade had grown even further through the destruction of the Khazar Khaganate, so a lot more "eastern" style equipment became popular. You can see some other examples at this picture here. Clearly we don't really have many examples of shield designs in that period so an eastern-style motif is somewhat assumed.

I get that, but I dont think that manny would come... they just dont strike me as Russian shields, they are very nice, Elvasat did great job, but maybe not best choice for this faction, your kite shields are great, why not making rounds ones in same fashion?

Hmm, that is certainly an option... I may just do that. If you could provide me with some symbols (can't find much for Slavic symbols...) then that would be great

I already have it both the Russian warriors and the Varangians! guardsmen books are great and provided me with a lot of great references for this roster!

That is different, they just have an agreement with TWC not to post their stuff due to Copyright.

Hiya mate! Not too much, I've been very busy with work and school (46 hours a week of work ) so I haven't had much time. However, be on the watch for a faction preview. I have a full roster done, I'm just doin some touch-ups and coding in. Then the preview will be finalized and released
