Aside from the flag, how can you tell those Spaniards apart from French and English when the dress code is that diverse?
all hail the flying spaghetti monster!
By the fact that their are no French and English?
Quick history course, for around a century after the little italian sod arrived, the only europeans that ever got to and where allowed to America were the spaniards, and mostly (if not only) castilians, at that.
Personally, If it was up to me I'd remove the spaniards as a playable faction all together and just focus on the Americas, but that's just a personal preference.
Loving how it looks though, can't wait. :E
Very good looking units!
Impressive work!!!!! As Spanish I must say that I have waiting for a mod that would expand the glorious adventure to search gold and glory of the infamous Conquistadores!!!!!
Thanks andima!!!
And as the spanish soldiers said before to begin a battle: Santiago y Cierra Espaņa!!!!!!!!
I would love to get these wonderful units. They are the best I've scene for the Americas thus far.
This mod looks absolutely fantastic, please continue it if you are at all able. If you need anything at all ask me. I can't guarantee that I can do it, but hey...
To answer some of the questions in this thread:
Yeah macana, not macuahuitl. Macana is a club which is a weapon I would expect every peoples to use. Macuahuitl was very specifically used in Late Postcalssic mesoamerica - the Mayans and any other people didn't use it to any significant extent. It was only the Mexica who adopted widespread usage. There was a huge trade route going north from Tenochtitlan in the Valley of Mexico and mesoamerican artefacts have been found in more northern sites like where these tribes are, so it would not be unreasonable to see some vague similarities in club types. Seeing macuahuitl that far up, however, would be very rare if not impossible. The only way that could happen would be through trade because there was no obsidian to create the blades in the area.
Iroquois are too far north.
As to the military arms of the mesoamericans, I have a few images which may be helpful, assuming you haven't already found them.
Left to right: Maya warrior w/ spear, Maya warrior with club, Maya warrior with Atlatl, Maya Chieftain w/ jade mosaic warmask, flint knife and spear
Left to right: Maya general with spear and headdress, Maya general with most likely ceremonial Kukulkan/Quetzalcoatl headdress, spear and flexible quilted fabric shield attached to forearm, Maya general with headdress (may or may not be only ceremonial) and weapons, atlatl thrower
If you are still working on this/want more just ask. Those are Mayans, I have pictures for most mesoamerican cultures.
The mod continues, but the release date is not close because there is still very much work to do.
Thanks to justdownloading for his help proposal, he is welcome and we accept any help he can give us.
At the moment we need of pictures of american cultures to make 3d warriors.
In particular we need pictures of Concho, Totonac, Tlapanec, Cuitlatec, Matlazinca, Mixe-Zoque, Popoloca, Soctona, Seri.
About the muskogean makanā have you some pictures? We can change it.
