Thread: Main Menu Replacer 0.8

  1. #1

    Default Main Menu Replacer 0.8

    What is this mod?
This mod replace the main menu map with some other maps. For the moment there are 3 maps:
    - "Kyoto level 6" from better maps.
    - "Genpei castle" from ROTS dlc.
    - "Himeji castle" from better maps.
    - "Sky", just for those who want more fps in the main menu.

Is this mod incompatible with another mod?
Yes, with Sekigahara Campaing. I didn't see any other mod incompatible.

    Some recomendations?
    - I make it for my other mod "Better Maps", but should work in vanilla game too.

    Is this multiplayer compatible?
    - TWCenter versions yes. Steam Workshop versions no.

Is it possible to revert the main menu back to the original Total War:Shogun 2 castle background?

If this is not possible can a main menu background showcasing a castle in a similar manner be created?

I see that in part thats what you've already done.

    Excellent.

Theoretically could that be done in a setting at night? or with a stationary daiymo or troops? or even with weather effects, rain or snow?

I'd be interested in seeing what you could come up with.

If you manage to get the Shogun 2 intro music back in (instead of this new one which I personnally dislike) then that would be awesome.

It's possible, and I tried but without the original coordinates of the camera I can't make it exactly like the original. I will try it another time in the future.

In night yes. With stationary troops maybe and only maybe. With weather effects of course.

Sorry but this mod only change the map of the background. For that you should search a music mod.

And finally I update this mod to 0.2 version:
    Version 0.2:
    - Fixed all problems with the avatar when you select "Avatar campaing" or you change veteran units.
Yes, the only problem of the mod (Avatar campaing) has gone. And i will try to release an alternative MMR for any level 6 castle I finish in the mod Better Maps so, if you don't have downloaded yet, try it. It's good.

    Another update:
    Version 0.7:
    - Now all MMRs work without "Better Maps".
    - Heavely improved lightning in "Kyoto" version.
    - "Himeji" version released.
    - "Genpei" version released.
All twcenter files are movie type, for better multiplayer compatibility.
About the genpei map, it's from ROTS dlc, but maybe there are problems to see the veteran units of multiplayer avatar.
About the himeji map, it's from the new update of better maps, what will be uploaded today or tomorrow, if steam and twcenter stops trolling me.

Hi Frodo thanks for your mods. Is it possible to disable the main menue animation at all? This should save energy and loading times. Could you try to make a mod for it?

I second AlQamar's request. In fact the main menu theme broke my immersion a long with CA's annoying advertisement box.

I think a static picture of some sorts or a slide show will suite my tastes. (Heck if possible tell me how to add a static picture to the main menu and I'll do it myself)

    Cheers!

It's not possible to use a static picture. At least, all the times I tried, the game has crashed while loading the main menu. If you want a more quickly charge and more FPS in the main menu, the only thing I can do is to make the game charge a empty and plain map and make the camera aim to the sky constantly. That should give you the maximum amount of FPS and the shorter loading times.

Would be worth a try. I could share you energy cost and loading time benches.

I've tried the Kyoto map of version 0.7 and it looks great. Good work.
May I use this as starting screen for my Boshin Realism mod?

Indeed it would be worth a try, plus the sky can look good too.

Ok I tried and the FPS of the main menu has increase a lot, but the loading time are the same, at least for me. I will try to upload It this week, when I finish it.

The more FPS in S2TW possible the better so far.

It sounds good, does it look pretty too?

At first, sorry for the delay, but my studies.... Well, there is a new update: released the "Sky" version. It's in the first post, and in steam workshop. Should give you some extra fps in the main menu. Enjoy!
