THE MOST IMPORTANT RULES: READING THIS IS MANDATORY

    • Private communication is allowed! This includes PM's, instant messaging, chats, phone conversation, texts, emails, talking in person, ect. The exception is that you cannot post screenshots at any time.

    • You may publicly role reveal, if you choose. You may quote your entire PM, if you like. Disclaimer: the GM is not responsible for any potential discrepancies in your role pm. Of course, all role pm’s are done with great care, but there is always potential for typos/mistakes, so if you choose to quote your role pm, do so at your own risk!

    • Participation: You will be expected to, at the very least, vote once per day phase, and use your ability every night phase. Failing to participate 3 days in a row WILL RESULT IN YOUR IMMEDIATE REMOVAL FROM THE GAME.

    • Dead players cannot communicate privately with any active players, or each other.

    • Vote Procedure: To vote to lynch someone, post: Vote: wideyedwanderer. To change your vote, post: Unvote, Vote: link16. Please do not edit your post to change your vote. Please use proper voting procedure, or it will not be counted. Remember to bold your vote! Vote: Abstain votes are allowed in order to demonstrate participation, and Vote: No Lynch votes are allowed in order to demonstrate that you actively do not want anyone lynched that day.

    • Do not intentionally alter the vote tally. You may post unofficial tallies for your own use, but the GM will post the official tallies. Violating this rule more than once may result in removal from play.

    • If you feel the GM has made a mistake, please speak to me in private. There is a good chance that the "mistake" is actually not a mistake at all, and is the result of hidden, behind-the-scenes actions by other players.

    • The GM reserves the right to make changes to the rules, or roles, as I see necessary, in order to sustain the balance and fun of the game. However, hopefully the game is already well-balanced from the start.

    • As with all mafia games, it is meant to be fun. So please, use good sportsmanship. You will be notified by the GM if I feel you may be personally attacking another player, and if the act continues, you may be banned from this, and future games.

    • Breaking the rules, whether intentional or not, may result in punishment, possibly a ban from the game, and having your name on the metaphorical wall of shame. So read the rules carefully, and play honestly. It's more fun that way.

    Additional Game Mechanics/Rules:

Reading this would be an exceptionally good use of your time if you happen to want to play or follow this game.

    1. Death: When a player dies, it may not be permanent. Please continue to play and expect to return to active play.

    2. Rupees: Players will begin the game with a set amount of "rupees"- in fact, everyone will begin the game with the exact same amount, with no exceptions.

    3. Rupees: The player with the highest rupee total at the end of the game, alive or dead, is the Grand Champion, and will be able to afford to pay for their resurrection, as they are the King of Thieves.

    4. Rupees: Players will be ranked by their rupee total, regardless of their alignment.

    5. Rupees: Players may be counted as winners regardless of their rupee total if their alignment prevails over the others. Officially, they will be counted as "runners up", but still good enough for the Victory.

    6. Rupees: Players that did not score highly enough to be the King of Thieves, and whose alignment did not prevail, will be ranked accordingly. Survival or Death has absolutely no impact on the final score.

    7. Rupees: Players may gain rupees by voting during the day, if they are alive, and sending in actions at night, if they are alive.

    8. Rupees: Players will gain rupees by posting at least once during the day, and at least once during the night, if they are dead. They will earn less for doing this than alive, active players, but will earn more rupees than inactive players.

    9. Luck: Random.org was used before the game to determine nighttime outcomes for all players. The specifics of which are the following: A "luck" rating of the integers 1 through 20, whose order is randomized, for the first 20 nights of the game. Each luck rating will be used precisely once, until all 20 numbers have been used up. Then the cycle repeats exactly. This is to ensure no one has better absolute luck than anyone else, and also ensures that there is no run of bad misfortune or unfairly good luck for anyone. The question will always be a matter of timing, and whether or not the game is still going on in 20 phases. The results are therefore random, but fair, and based on certain rules, the knowledge of which you can use to your advantage.

    10. Luck: Your luck rating determines how many rupees you are able to steal from another player, if your steal is successful.

    11. Luck: Your luck rating decides ties in situations where the outcome requires a tiebreaker, such as two people stealing the same item.

    12. Luck: If the game ends before the 20th night, all the night results you would have gotten from Luck before the game ended are counted as your "UNUSED LUCK".

    13. Luck: Your unused luck is added to your final gold total. 1 unused luck = 1 rupee. So, if you would have rolled a 20 on the 20th night, and the game ended before you could have earned such a total, that number is added to your total rupees. For all players. This way, if your early game numbers are a bunch of low numbers, and the game ends, you are compensated for the unused luck. Any night past the 20th night, however, yields no such unused luck at game end. By then, the opportunity deficit has been repaid for all players, and the game is considered FULLY balanced. Random.org cannot screw you. Only your fellow players can!

    14. Alignment: Performing virtuous/brave or dastardly evil actions will affect your alignment. Each instance of such an act will push your alignment in a certain direction.

    15. Alignment: All players begin with Neutral alignment. This means their sole concern is to be the most wealthy player.

    16. Alignment: However, some players are less neutral than others, by role. They might begin with a bonus to their alignment shifting efforts: Example, someone might be able to turn "Good" in alignment with fewer virtuous actions than others. Or, they might be allowed to commit more dastardly actions without shifting alignment in the evil direction. These will always be bonuses and not penalties: If a player wishes to be good or evil, and they have a bonus which helps them avoid that alignment, they can tell me to ignore their bonus, and it will cease to exist for that round. I prefer positives/bonuses rather than penalties, with regards to player choice.

    17. Alignment: It is possible to fall to Good or Evil alignment, and then make the decision to reverse it.

    18. Alignment: It is possible to fall completely Good or completely Evil, and make the decision irreversible. This will incur certain bonuses and penalties for doing so.

19: Night Actions: You always have two of them.

    • Individual (Single) Action: You go off on your own and perform an available action of your choice.
    • Multi-Party (Group Action: You and a group of others with precisely matching orders perform another action.

You may always use both of these actions, every night, unless you are dead. You are not required to do either one, but there's a penalty to your rupee total for not sending in any orders at all.
20: Items: Everyone begins the game with at least one item.

21: Items: Items may not be given away voluntarily. They may only be stolen from you at night.

22: Items: Items will provide you additional abilities, partial immunities or defenses, or are key items which boost your rupee total at the end of the game, and are Game Objectives for the Good or Evil sides, and they will be especially interested in obtaining those key items. Because key items may boost your rupee total, it might become more profitable to obtain those items than to steal rupees outright.

    23. Key items: Key items may boost your final rupee total, but as they are multipliers only, they will have little effect on players who have not many rupees to begin with. [Example of a multiplier: 1.1 times your final rupee total. Obviously of marginal effect on someone who has managed to keep only the number of rupees they began the game with.]

    24. Key items: Certain key items are Game Objectives for the Good or Evil sides. Keeping them out of the hands of Good or Evil characters will prolong the game.

    25. Key Items: The game will end if certain conditions are met. These involve Key Items and the alignment of the players holding those items. But, there may be other additional conditions. You'll find out if you turn Good or Evil.

    GAME ENDING CONDITIONS:

    26. Game Concluded by Mutual Agreement: The game can end at any time, provided that the Key Items are held exclusively by Neutral players, and all living Neutral players vote unanimously to end the game, winning the game for the Neutral players. This means there can be no abstaining or missing votes. Even a single inactive neutral halts this process.
    • This is how the Neutrals win the game as a faction. They are then ranked by rupee total to determine the winner.

    • This means, since Neutrals begin the game with all items and all players, they could conclude the game at any time, for as long as they continue to hold the Key Items. So the power was always in their hands to win the game. The unanimous vote requirement is meant to deter folks from gaining a bunch of Rupees early and ending the game on Day Two.

    • Be warned: If the Neutrals are vastly outnumbered, but still hold the Key Items, it will be much easier for them to conclude the game in their favor! It only requires unanimous votes on the part of Neutrals to end the game this way! Votes from Good or Evil alignment do not affect this condition!

    27. Game concluded by Annihilation: The game can end if the forces of Good or Evil wipe out the opposing side, as well as any remaining Neutrals, thus removing the Key Items from play for the other two sides.

    • This is one of the ways Good or Evil aligned players can win.

    28. Game concluded by Victory Condition Achievement: The game can end if the forces of Good or Evil obtain the Key Items exclusively for their alignment, and meet their other, hidden condition.

    • This is the other way Good or Evil aligned players can win, even if vastly outnumbered.

29: Game concluded by Individual achievement- If any player reaches a total of 500 rupees at any time.

    GAME PERPETUATING CONDITIONS:

    30. Time loop: The flow of time is like a river. Although the stream appears to flow only in one direction, its course unalterable, this is not the case. The source of the river is constantly replenished, and the water eventually returns to the source, to travel back down the river.

    31. Time line: The course of the river can in fact be changed, if an event great enough occurs to move its direction, like a boulder in the path... or an earthquake of apocalyptic proportions.

    32. Time stop: Therefore, it is also possible to stop the river from flowing altogether.

    • If Time flows in a loop, the game may continue ad infinitum.
    • If Time flows in a line, the game will end on a certain day.
    • If Time stops flowing, strange effects will occur. For example, it will become impossible to die.

    33. You read that correctly. This game is awesome, so you'd better get used to the idea.

    Alignment System

    True Neutral
    -
Completely Good - Good - Neutral - Evil - Completely Evil

    Glossary:

Neutral- Everyone begins the game with this alignment. Wins with Neutral faction or with top wealth.
True Neutral- Stays on the completely Neutral path for a certain amount of time. Earns a bonus to rupee theft. True Neutrals can leave the Neutral path at any time.

Good- Has participated in brave/virtuous acts, more than evil ones. Wins with Good faction or with top wealth. Earns bonuses and penalties for this alignment.
Completely Good- Continues down the Good path for a certain amount of time. Cannot revert back to Neutral or Evil anymore. Keeps Good bonuses, loses penalty. Wins with Good faction or with top wealth.

Evil- Has participated in dastardly/villainous acts, more than good ones. Wins with Evil faction or with top wealth. Earns bonuses and penalties for this alignment.
Completely Evil- Continues down the Evil path for a certain amount of time. Cannot revert back to Neutral or Good anymore. Keeps Evil bonuses, loses penalty. Wins with Evil faction or with top wealth.

    • Certain characters begin the game neutral, but with a lean towards a certain alignment. They can take advantage of this lean to become Good or Evil early on.
    • From a starting alignment of +/- Zero good or evil, which most folks begin with, it takes three steps to become Good. It will take a further two steps to become Completely Good.
    • From a starting alignment of +/- Zero good or evil, which most folks begin with, it takes three steps to become Evil. It will take a further two steps to become Completely Evil.
    • For each step you take in one direction, you may also take a step in the other direction, cancelling it out.
    • If you take Neutral actions, and are already Neutral, you will push yourself further toward True Neutral status. It will take four steps to do this. It will only take one step in any direction to make you no longer a True Neutral, and a further four steps to bring you back.

    Example:

If you began the game as Neutral, +1 good lean, it would take you two steps to become Good. From there, it would take you a further two steps to become Completely Good, or, it would take three steps to become Neutral again, and a further three steps to become Evil, and a further two steps to become Completely Evil.

Good Action: Attempting to protect someone other than yourself, from Theft or Kill.
Evil Action: Attempting to kill someone.
    Neutral Action: All other actions.

    Frequently Asked Questions:

    1. What is the minimum number of people required to perform a group night action?

    Answer:

    • Vigilante actions: 4 people required.
    • Protection from kill actions: 4 people required.
    • Steal actions: 3 people required.
    • Protect item+gold: 3 people required.

    2. What if you have more than the minimum number in one group?

    Answer:

If someone fails to send in orders or is otherwise prevented from taking action somehow, your action will still succeed, most likely. In at least one circumstance, you will need an extra person or the action will fail.

    3. I don't understand my role PM! Help!

Answer: That's not really a question, more of a request.

    4. Can you help me?

    Answer: Yes, yes I can.

    5. ....Will you please help me?

This is a SAMPLE ROLE PM.
Your role will look like this, or something similar.

    With me so far?

    Let's go over the basics.

    Askthepizzaguy

    King Kafei of Hyrule
Your name, and your character's name.

What your character currently looks like.

    Starting Alignment: +/- Zero [Neutral]
    Your alignment:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    +5 = Completely Good
    +3, +4 =Good

    +1, +2 = Neutral good
    0 = Neutral [+ 4 Neutral actions consecutively = True Neutral]
    -1, -2 = Neutral evil

    -3, -4 = Evil
    -5 = Completely Evil

    Starting Alignment: +1 [leans good]
    Starting Alignment: Zero
    Starting Alignment: -1 [leans evil]

    • Everyone begins the game as Neutral
    • Three roles Lean Good
    • Three roles Lean Evil
    • Nobody is required to be good or evil.

Read more about alignment here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...4#post12195374

    Rupee Total: 100

Primary Win Condition: Hold the most rupees at end of game.
Self-explanatory. The rules list how you gain rupees.

Note that there are bonuses to your rupees which are a result of your Team winning the game, or you Completing your Personal Goal, or due to holding certain items in your possession. These bonuses are usually a multiplier to your endgame rupee total, therefore it is wise to raise your base rupee total as high as possible over the course of the game.

Neutral Team Win Condition: The Neutral Team must possess the 3 parts of the Triforce and vote unanimously to end the game in order to prevail.
    Your current team's Win Condition.

This will change if you become Good or Evil.

If your team wins, you get an automatic bonus 0.1 times your rupee total added on.

    ITEMS:
There are several kinds of items.

KEY ITEMS: These are items (like the Triforce) which are key items that must be held by the victorious team. Without these items, that team cannot become victorious. These items usually add on a bonus to your final rupee total. It's a good idea to steal them!

Major items: These are items which are useful on their own. They add to your power and can be used over and over again.

Minor items: These are items such as masks or pendants or other odd items which by themselves do nothing, but if combined together with other items (this happens automatically whenever someone holds two or more of these combinable items) they complete the set, and are instantly replaced with one of the game's most powerful Major Items. It's a good idea to complete the set, by stealing those items!

Expendable items: These are very minor items which can be powerful, but they are single-use and will disappear when expended. All single-use items are clearly marked as such.

Personal goal: Be in possession of the Triforce of Courage for three straight days and nights.

If you complete your personal goal, you will receive a bonus of 0.05 times your final gold total.
    PERSONAL GOALS:
Fulfill the conditions stated, and you will receive an automatic bonus to your final gold total.

I note that I will often exchange the word "rupee" for "gold". They mean the same thing. You can call it gold if you want. It's your money.

And, at the bottom of your role PM, no matter who you are, it says this:

    ________________________________________________________

    Alignment Bonuses and Penalties:

["Your name" or "Good Your Name"] gets a bonus [blankety blank blank]
["Your name"] cannot do [blankety blank blank]
So far so good, right? This is your alignment bonus and penalty if your Neutral Character becomes GOOD.

Then this is the part that's really confusing you, directly after it:

["Someone else's name"] gets a bonus [blankety blank blank]
["Someone else's name"] cannot do [blankety blank blank]
This is your alignment bonus and penalty if your Neutral Character becomes EVIL.

And yes. That other name is what you transform into if you become EVIL.

    • These bonuses and penalties only are applied when your character is "Good" or "Evil", respectively.
    • While Neutral, they do not apply.
    • Note also: If you become COMPLETELY GOOD or COMPLETELY EVIL, the penalty disappears, and the bonus remains! The trade-off is that you are now stuck as Good or Evil and cannot switch back anymore.
    • There is a bonus for being True Neutral- you gain +1 to all rupee theft actions. See alignment chart for details. There's no penalty for being True Neutral, except that bonus disappears and you cease being True Neutral if you do a virtuous or evil action and your alignment is no longer at Zero.

That's all you need to know about your role.

By the way, if you turn Evil, your character image changes to reflect your spiffy new Evil persona.

    6. What is the Good and Evil team win conditions?

Answer: It's a secret to everybody.

Actually, you'll find out if you turn Good or Evil. Their win condition is more complicated than the Neutral team's win condition, but a bit easier to execute without a unanimous vote.

    • You already know if the Good or Evil team wipes out all the competition, they win. But there's at least one other way, and it involves the Triforce.

    • You should also know that if a certain number of Key Characters die, the Evil faction is closer to victory. So vigilante killings willy-nilly might backfire.

    7. Who are the Key Characters?

Answer: It's a secret to everybody. Mostly. Part of the game is finding out!

    The Legend of Zelda
    King of Thieves

    Prologue

Storm clouds gather over Hyrule Castle Town. A wave of crime swept through Hyrule. The land became cursed; the sky, blackened. The people of Hyrule seem to be under some kind of dark enchantment. Friends feuding with friends. Neighbors stealing each other's property. Raid after raid on royal caravans.

The Castle, once a bastion of law and order, safety and security, was raided.
The King's treasury, emptied. Several priceless artifacts were stolen. But worst of all, the Sacred Triangles were removed from the holiest of places, the Temple of Time. The gates to the Castle were closed, and the Royal Family was locked up good and tight. But guards and gates do little good when someone from inside the Castle was responsible for the raid.

An attack on the Royal Family, from within... and in the darkness,
the attackers did flee. And in their greed, they slew one another, fighting over their most valued prize, the Sacred Triangles. Somehow, the relics were lost to the sands of time....

Now, thieves and gangsters rule over most of Hyrule. The curse of greed has touched everyone. From the darkness comes a great evil, and few are able to resist its intoxicating power.

Hope and Fear... Love and Hatred... Joy and Sorrow...

    These would be the
keys to breaking the grip of greed on the people of Hyrule. Only a powerful enough emotion can move the spirit and reverse the dark curse that plagues them. The defenders of the Sacred Realm, six beings of extraordinary power, would be all that stands between Hyrule and a world of death and darkness, swallowed whole by greed. And yet, they were not immune to the darkness that consumed them.

As Day turns to Night, and Night turns to Day, so does the river of Time continue to flow...

A being of Great Evil has come to Hyrule, and with this being, comes a stone large enough to disrupt the flow of the river of time forever....

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Moon is slowly falling out of the sky. When it reaches Hyrule Castle town, there will be nothing left worth fighting for.

Things always seems darkest just before the dawn...

The man wiped sweat from his brow.

Busy, always busy. His devotion to duty was beyond admirable. He knew that he was but a humble servant, bringing joy and happiness to Hyrule. He also knew that if he did not do his job, the very foundation of the kingdom would begin to unravel.

When he happened upon the glowing object, he knew that someone had obviously misplaced such a valuable item. He took it upon himself to find its owner.

    So shiny, and glowing red.

Surely it must have been very expensive, whatever it was. The object disappeared into his bag, and he continued onward.

    Mustn't be late, of course...

    _______

My goodness, it sure is heavy.

He stopped and took it back out of his bag, and looked at it again.

    Very pretty....

No time to waste. Back into the bag it went.

    _______

He stopped again and pulled it back out of the bag, and began to stare at it, his eyes widening in awe.

    So.... very.... pretty.....

Cool as a cucumber right now.

If you can get all 33 players to even vote on any given round, I'll be impressed.

Vote: Visorslash because I never know what he's up to and I'd rather just not be confused about him this time.

    Namasté, kind game-wallah.

To my fellow player-sahibs in this game: I feel I must vote: Heretic Seon. I do voting for Seon because I like voting Seon, but also because the man once threatened one of my kittens with a bazooka, before said kitten came into my possession, and this is bad. Threatening kittens is not acceptable. Do not do threatening kittens, please.

I just realized that your sig picture is very accurate.

You still have your guns, freedom, and religion, and I still have hope and change. It's almost like they were never incompatible in the first place.
