Default Battle Academy goes the extra mile with a lite version and invite system

Former Secretary of State of the US Colin Powell invited to a multiplayer game

Epsom, UK, October 25, 2012Critically acclaimed strategy gaming franchise Battle Academy is three years old, but it shows no signs of slowing down its worldwide success. The stunning release of the iPad version earlier this year, received an incredible reaction, both in terms of overall sales, with the game constantly sitting in the top grossing strategy games charts and in terms of public recognition with well over 500 five stars rating and an average reviewers scores of 4.5 stars across the globe.

We have been continually updating the game and to celebrate it success are now launching a lite version of the game exclusively for the iPad store and updating the existing PC and Mac demos, released a few months ago. This new demo version includes an intro mission and a full single player scenario, set only a few days after the Normandy landing. It also allows you to accept invitations to 2 multiplayer scenarios from players who have the full game, It represents an ideal prequel to the main game and it is designed to be accessible and enjoyed by any newcomer.

There is also a great new addition to an already long list of community-based features included in Battle Academy. All existing players now have the opportunity to invite any friend to a multiplayer battle, even if they don't own the game. The process is very simple: by clicking the new invite button that has been added to the game's main menu, players will be driven through a very simple setup process. The invited person will receive a link to download a demo and taken directly into the scenario with its turn ready to be played.

The release of demo and invite system, also coincides with the issue of game update 2.0.6. A full list of changes in v2.0.6 can be found here.

"We are trying to give the community an opportunity to share their passion in a completely new way", said Iain McNeil, Development Director at Slitherine. "Usually players can post results and achievement on their Facebook pages, but the opportunity of inviting friends that don't own the game has never been tried before. To celebrate the launch of this revolutionary system we have also decided to invite some pretty unusual players to play the game. We would really like some big names to come to the game and enjoy it as much as thousands of people are already doing worldwide".

The list of VIP people invited to play Battle Academy include former Secretary of State of the US Colin Powell, general David Petraeus, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States General Martin Dempsey and many others.

PC and Mac versions of the main game will also be discounted for a week’s time to match the iPad version price at $ 19.99.
