My point merely was that it was too early to plan mods for a game we know nothing about (well... almost nothing, we do know it's pretty and it has Carthage). Nothing was said by me about potential modability.

In terms of preliminary research, I thiought everything that is to be done in this area was covered already in Roma Surrectum 2 and others? Redoing all the work seems... wasteful?

No, RTW were restricted by faction and settlement limit. So they had to sacrifice factions and accurate provinces. Also merge cultures and lore
and many combat animation restrictions. In this Rome 2 there is no faction or provincal limit so we can with this version greatly extend historical accuracy and have better culture influence than previous games. This is why we're researching now from scrap bottom to make a enjoyable great mod for everyone. Of course we wont determine how settlements and system will work now when rome 2 isnt released. The best we can do is to begin research every iota of details and thus spares us the amount time of research needed to be done when r2tw is out.

So everything in this area are far from covered in older mods

    Yeah, were just that keen.

We thought it would be easier to do all the general research now, get it out of the way, then when the game comes out we start working out how to implement our concepts.

Thats what e.g. the team of Europa Barbaorum did with Rome I. I wonder when they will finish EB II. But if they would release EB II in 2013, it would be interesting to see, which one is the better game. Of course Rome II will look better. But ...

Personally I think EB2 will have better gameplay, but yeah, Rome 2 will have much better graphics.

EBII development seems to be very slow lately so not sure it will be released before Rome 2... Unfortunately.

Hopefully a small release will be made before the turn of the year, at least a preview version, or something.

Whilst I am of the opinion you are largely working in the dark at this point.....

    Good luck to you.

    I applaud your enthusiasm.

I'm looking forward to see what you come up with!

I would like to put in an early application to beta test.

I wish you good luck and i hope that CA give you all the possibilities to made a good mod. But mainly i m pleased to see a team and not a single person to made it. Because lately we saw many single man mods and few teams ones like in M2. I just hope dont see egos blowing it.

What makes you think Rome 2 will not be the embodiment of perfection?

    2 answer to this

1 - Perfection is impossible when it comes to games, there is always room for improvement.

2 - CA generally make TW very different to the way that I, and I'm sure a lot of other people, enjoy playing TW, and that's with realism and a certain level of complexity, crossed with simplicity
