I died a little inside. I would think 280 B.C. would have been better. I would like to fight Pyrrus.

Pyrrus will be included, he didn't die until 272. At our starting date, the Battle of Beneventum is just about to take way, so you, the player, will have a great role in the outcome of the war.

The Battle of Beneventum was the final battle of the Pyrrhic War when the outnumbered Romans inflicted heavy casualties on the defeated Greeks, while sustaining heavy casualties there self. This was a very good victory for Rome, because they were outnumbered in infantry, cavalry, and the Greeks also had Elephants.

So, this will be good for the player, because if they cannot reproduce such a vital victory, the that might spell the end for Rome, or the war might go on for years to come.

The date 275 also works very well in the Hellenistic world, because a lot of nations are currently been formed in that area, including some Celtic ones, and a lot of events are about to unfold, which will give the player a colourful experience.

So yes, you will still see your Pyrrus

EDIT: More about Pyrrus. We will not make his death fixed on 272; he only died because a city stealth assault went terribly wrong. We will definitely try to make Pyrrus' gameplay great; the war with Rome, succession over the Makedonian throne, installing Cleonymus on the Spartan throne; all in 10 years.

EDIT AGAIN: Because Pyrrus was "the last of the military adventurers" he will have a lot more options, events and possibilities than other nation rulers

I had Phyrrus survive well into the 250s BC in EB.

He could have lived longer but I keep quitting. Or I end up killing him as the Makedonians.

I'm ready to help the mod with historical research if new people are still needed. I'm not a professional historian or writer but I'm a big fan of pre-roman/roman historical period and know this topic quite good aswell as ready to search for any additional related information

No disrespect, gents. Yet in the words of the Gnaeus Pompei Magnus: "You are cooking rabbits that had not yet been caught." Just a bit early to plan the mods for a game in closed alpha(if that), yes? Have some faith/trust/something in the CA

To be fair they had seen those history channel shows that used the Rome battles in them. They knew it was gonna be inaccurate.

I've spotted some "inaccuracies" of the units already (some would consider it accurate, but they are not right). And the pace at which those units can run at seems rather insane, especially considering the order of their formation while doing it! Further considering that these armies were only militia. I saw the Carthaginians keeping their formation at a sprint fairly well too.

On the other side though, the game looks AMAZING! Really looking forward to the navy battles
