For sake of space, a1 simply means Area 1 in the recruitment map
Similarly a1.3 means Region 3 in Area 1

Sorry if this has been asked already, I couldn't find it, but how do I know which area is which?

I wanted to know which areas are a2.12, a2.9 and a3.14. If I understand correctly, building mercenary recruitment centers on those will allow me to get balearic slingers, right?

take a look at the footnote, check the maps in the folder path for the area id. they come with your RS package.
