Kats' poll was missing an important option, so I made this new one.

    Ok, vote:

Keep them fully: The messages remain as they are.

Remove Info: The messages will be shortened to simply "Poach died.", no information on how you died (fell, burned, blew up) will be shown, additionally it will not show if a player has killed you. All the world will see is "Player died.".

Remove completely: No messages are shown at all.

    * * *

I voted for option 2. It'll put some mystery and intrigue into politics and war.

I believe keeping the notification of death, but removing the cause would be the better option. It allows for better record keeping and doesn't make things too complicated. Plus, it's nice to know when someone in your faction died in cases of being attacked or something sooner rather than later.

Personally, I think it'd be better for PvP if there was no global announcement every time someone was killed. It makes no sense to have everyone know every time someone dies and removing the message would encourage PvP as the world wouldn't automatically know about your actions hence other factions would be less likely to interfere. It would also introduce a little intrigue as there's no definite proof someone was attacked or killed.

Is there even a lightweight plugin that would allow this?

If there's not, something for the "to-do" list when the modding API launches.

    Perhaps this: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/ki...eath-messages/

There seems to be an option to have no messages.

Then player names should be removed aswell, oh wait. thats already included in 1.4

I don't know, I get Kats and Poach their points. I dislike it however since its fun to see people die through lava.

''glory to the lava god'' and stuff I did vote abstain, oh wait

Against changing it, I would like to be fully aware on what's going on on the server.

Gotta say, I kinda like seeing whenever someone dies and how they did it. Voted 1.

I think both 2 and 3 will serve no purpose- that player will promptly pass the message on anyway. Unless we can remove nametags and obscure skins... which'd be pretty awesome .
So I'm voting for the status quo

But with 2 there will still be a message saying that players die. It'll just say "Skivvies died" or "Poach died" or something. It'll just remove the cause of death.

I can edit it in one of the bukkit configs iirc mang. As far as it goes I don't really care either way, but it does allow us to keep track of battles and what not. Which I do like.

I voted to keep the status quo because there's only a small chance of someone being killed without seeing the killer. And if they see the killer, it's obvious that they'll alert their faction of an attack anyway. Plus, there are already ways of killing people without them knowing who did it and it being given away by the server message. It just takes a bit of sneakiness... and lava/high altitudes.

True but it will still be easier to see who did what.

I prefer being able to see who I killed/who killed me.

I agree with Mage, being forced to know someones skin to identify them would be pretty amazing it'd be kinda neat if factions had to make a universal faction skin and keep it secret while rivals can attempt to forge their enemies skin allowing actual base infiltrations .
