Thought I'd log in and offer feedback, since you kind coders were gracious to share an interesting mod for a game I've enjoyed for some time now.

1) Start up steam
2) start up Launcher
3) open up sub menu "options/audio"
4) click enhanced battle sounds so that it is NOT ticked
5) Click start

Game didn't crash after I removed the sound enhancement and music, which I did both at the same time. So, I didn't use the reset defaults step. Played and restarted the game 4X... seems to fix the crash issue.

/Rocker remembers the old days, when we had to reverse engineer patches. life is good.

Just to add/correct a couple of things:

CTD at Startup

(...)

You forgot to open Steam before opening the Launcher?
Close Steam->Close Launcher->Open Steam->Open Launcher.

If you have received a CTD you have to reboot your machine.

Maybe you installed to wrong directory.
The installer finds automatically the ETW installation directory and suggests you to install DarthMod Empire there. However, maybe for various reasons not known yet for sure, it suggests a default directory that is slightly different than the correct.
For example it suggests C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\empire total war\
but you have installed the game in your secondary drive D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\empire total war\

So especially if your log report produces this error:

Hi i folowed the instructions and installed 8.0.1 open beta.I have two issues.
1)As soon as i launch a game and i hear music that doesnt stop.
2)when i click on utilities-long adress-start i get the following message

Hi, I installed the latest update, and when you run a custom battle, so when I loaded it fits the area and writes that the engine stopped working. You know what I have wrong?

I think I may have figured out a problem that can help people out. In my case, I had to turn off the Prussian Grenadier Giants. No matter if I was playing as them or fighting them, the game would CTD just as the battle loaded. But it was them specifically that CTDd the game. I hope this helps someone out there.

I'm facing problems while starting a campaign, with both the darthmod of Empire and Napoleon. As soon as I load/begin a campaign the game crashes and a message of windows appears that the game doens't work. I do not have this with the vanilla versions. Perhaps it has something to do with the recent steam update?

I set my launch options with Steam open and logged in and it says I am ready to launch the game manually but every time I press play in Steam nothing happens

Just did a fresh install of ETW and it worked fine in vanilla before DME v8.0.1. I downloaded both parts and it installed fine, patch installed fine. But when I open up the ETW with the DME launcher it goes crazy and won't boot the game, and if I try opening ETW directly it doesn't respond and won't boot up now... Here's a screenshot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I always get an CTD at startup; naturally I read the topic concerning CTD at startup. The problem is that I get:
Mod Installation Path:
DME path: ...re Total War\data\DME
Steam Status: n/a

Which tells me that I installed it uncorrect. However I uinstalled and rebooted the system. Then I installed again and looked up empire.exe -> proporties and copied the path for the file. Then I typed the path into the installer's box and installed.
Now I still get the same CTD and loginfo. What am I doing wrong?
