No Grenades for Grenadiers Ideas

I've read on other forums the the reason there are no grenades are because they couldn't figure out ammo as they were powerful and unlimited. I thought of the idea that they could set up the grenades similar to the barrage ability some cannons have. Since the cannons only get to use the ability 3 times they could make it so the Grenadiers only get 5-10 grenades to use in battle.

Yes they do. A Fusil is a musket that doesn't use a matchlock system. Either being a wheelock, doglock, or a flintlock. Wheelocks being the best but most expensive system, Doglocks having a safety, Flintlocks being cheap, and Matchlocks being cheap but annoying and impossible to use in conjunction with artillery units or supply train due to the risk of blowing everyone to hell.

Whether modern firearms count as fusils is questionable, but the French still use the term.

I think the main reason why it isn't in game is because the grenadiers were not really grenadiers in the sense of their original weaponry, however their purpose was the same ( clearing out enemy strong points ).

The reason why the grenadiers lost their grenades was because of the whole mass conscription, making grenades wasn't particularly cheap and they weren't really reliable or really combat effective. So you have to mass produce a quite expensive weapon that isn't really made for mass production for a certain part of the army instead of just giving all the infantry the same weapons. Once the smaller professional armies of the early-mid 1700's disappeared so did the grenades.
