Quick update: Just got my lesson outline in, and I think I may have enough students to begin if I am approved to be a professor.

I believe I would be interested also if there is no cost involved. Would it be possible to post a link to what exactly what is needed for the course and where the best download site is at? In the mean time I will start researching on the web in reference to visual basic. Thank you.

Ah! Didn't see your post earlier. Disregard that first part of my pm! Yes, lesson one will be developer tools download/installation/getting everyone on the same page. Which means we're going to be using Microsoft's very handy development suite.

And yes, this is absolutely one hundred percent free.

At the moment I have Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Professional. Will this be alright or should I use something else?

It's perfect. Make sure it's default setting is for Visual Basic development. Setting the wrong development environment is no big deal to fix, but it does take a little bit of time to change.

We're going to be developing in Visual Studios 2010 Visual Basic Express Edition, which is identical aside from only coming equipped with the one environment to play with.

Gonna be a LITTLE bit longer, found out I have to have all the lessons completed before I can begin. Was hoping I would have the two weeks to work alongside you guys. Haha.

Yeah, that looks to be it. The link they give you on the website looks like it makes you do some digging, this one you just grab the version you want.

Just want to say, I find it fantastic that you're offering a course like this, Border Patrol. Definitely worthwhile, hopefully others will follow your example and bring new direction to this sub-forum.

Hey, I'd be really interested in this.

With the caveat of having absolutely no experience in programming...is that okay? I've been wanting to learn a basic programming language for awhile.

Of course! I should probably edit the OP to make this clearer. This course is meant for those who have zero prior programming knowledge.

This is something very practical, thus something for which I would aim to make time. If it is intended to start at around late October/early November at the earliest, I may be able to partake .

Hopefully this is up before early November! But since I'm still going through the application process atm (which involves having completed all of the lessons) we'll see. Until then, I'm still in the process of writing those up. Hang in there guys, this will get done.
