No, nothing will go wrong.
If there's no version written, that means that you have an older version of RS, not 2.5.

Any differences between this and the beta version?
No, it's the same thing, just repacked to be easier to install.

What about installing when you've steam? Have I missed that point or do I do the very same procedures?
It should be the same procedures.

Strategy Informer has been really kind to us and has uploaded the file on their own site.
I've added the link in the first post.

I tried to install this twice and still it doesn't work. It said it wasn't installed correctly.
I followed all instructions from the first post but it just doesn't want to work.
When I launch it as you guys showed it gives 3 errors.
I managed to launch the game by hitting RomeTW.exe but there was no campaign to select.
What is wrong?

One of the few to still have his first avatar in place here on TWC.

What is (are) the error message exactly?
Also, could you try to delete the file called launcher.ini located in the launcher folder.
Lastly, the install seems to have worked, so while we try to fix this issue, you can play by creating a shortcut for RomeTW.exe, and add the -mod: argument.
Here is the list for all factions.

I figured it out, I used the wrong engine that you can select in the drop-down menu.
Only one last thing that I don't know how to fix:
I did the following already:
But the shield icon doesn't go away it seems and hit a pop-up appears when double clicking the icon each time asking: "Do you want the following program to make changes to your computer?"Warning : It has been reported that the launcher does not have admin right by default.
If you encounter troubles with the launcher, go to C:\Games\Roma Surrectum II\launcher.
Right click on the Roma Surrectum II.exe file, select properties.
Go to the compatibility tab (the second one from the left in WIN 7), and check the "Run as an administrator" checkbox.
Apply the change, and it now should be ok.

The shield means it's running in admin mode, and the pop-up means the program is asking for admin permission.
So all is good.

But is it possible to hide the shield and it not asking for permission? Like the other RTW mods.

You mean running without admin permission?
Yes it is, just untick the box.
But if something does not work, you know what's the problem.

Why need admin rights? i think because you've installed it to the folder under C:\Program or such. If you copy the Rome folder to one of your user account folder (My Documents for instance) that will probably solve the problem.
Both your suggestions didn't work sadly.

The little shield is not the problem, I have that too, always have. There must have been some mistake while installing I guess...
the moddb link isn't working because the gamefront mirror it's using leads to a 'bad gateway' error. i also tried going to gamefront and searching for roma surrectum but no results.
It seems to be working alright, though I find it strange that they are using Gamefront as a mirror.
I thought they hosted it themselves.

Well, I came across a problem, I've followed all of the steps in the first post, and now whenever I try to launch RSII through the launcher, it will start Rome up, then my screen will go black and it will close automatically, can't figure out why.
