Default Kingdom of the Golden Land Mod

    Faction Thus Far
    Lore and character's

Agahnim - A mysterious wizard and self proclaimed holy man who saved the kingdom from disaster. He was made the chief priest because of this. At court he had a strained relationship with the nobility but continued to gain support with the lower classes based on the miracles he performed. Secretly trained a small army composed of his most faithful supporters (among whom were four great knights of Hyrule) whom he equipped with special armor and weapons. Now openly denounces the monarchy and nobility while proclaiming himself the Champion of the Goddesses. Seeks the Triforce to gain immortality.

The Four Knights - The four great generals of the Kingdom of the Golden Land. The only nobility who joined Agahnim. See Generals for Specifics.

The Soldiers of Agahnim - The military branch of the Kingdom of the Golden Land. They fight for glory, for betterment, for Agahnim, for the King, for the Goddesses, but generally not all at once. While the official mission of Agahnim is to stop the heresy of the royal family, he has also promised great rewards to those who serve him. Many of his most loyal and longest serving soldiers have a mixed blood in their veins which caused them to be shunned from the general ranks of society. Agahnim promised to bring equal treatment to them in return they serve him and the new king. Along their sides came runaway serfs who wanted to till a land and get the full reward for their work. Far less trumpeted, though, is the bandits and mercenaries who have taken to the idea of being the new warriors of the kingdom and the pardon that comes with the employment. However, the influence of the temple should not be denied as most of the soldiers learned of Agahnim through the temple and many joined purely from religious fever. Whatever their reasons to join, a soldier of the Golden Land has been made into a strong and dependable soldier by their near constant training.

    Tier 1
    Peasants

While most soldiers of the kingdom have been trained for combat, sometimes the need to just have men on the field exceeds the need to have soldiers on the field. In such a event, a band of peasants are mustered together and sent with the real soldiers to battle. Being a untrained, poorly equipped, and inexperienced lot they should not be relied on to do much except be there while their morale last.

"When a man joins the army of the Golden Land, he is first issued a small sword called a recruit's sword, a small buckler called a recruit's shield, and a set of green pattern armor. Until he gains the rank of Swordsman, he trains near constantly in the new set of armor he was giving, resting only to eat, sleep, and attend temple. Many can not meet this standard of physical strength, but there are many more men who want to join Agahnim's army. During this constant marching, public work, which often includes finding and bringing to justice crimnials, and mock battles, they are sometimes called upon to serve in war. While not as prepared as there promoted brethren, they still can put up quite a fight and it has been the mistake of many a Hylian knight to charge them thinking they would yield without a good fight. Not true professional soldiers, they still do perform the job well enough to make a difference in a battle if they are used wisely."

"Once a recruit has proven himself ready for fulltime duty, he becomes a swordsman. He is given a broadsword, called a soldier's sword, a large kiteshield, and a set of blue pattern armor. Swordsmen make up the bulk of the Golden Land's army and perform most of the fighting. A swordsman fits this important role perfectly. He is a spirited and fierce fighter, eager to kill his enemies. Do not think him like a bloodthirsty Gerudo or Moblin, however. He has been taught to respect perfect discpline and orders from his near constant training. He is a soldier to hold the line and win wars."

"While the soldier's life makes great warriors, it is not a path many can follow, despite how sincere their desire is. Many cannot leave their farms for the long campaigns, and some of the wealthier supporters have had far to pampered lives to rapidly change to the grime and the sweat of the warrior. Men like these founded the spear regiments. A militia quality soldier who serves a short time, often funded by those who cannot fight themselves. The sword requiring more skill than they can afford so they use the spear, far simpler tool. Their armor is more on loan than given to them, and is expected to be returned once they return to there farms. Some, however, remain in the army, and eventually join to it in full, often bypassing the rank of swordsmen altogether and becoming a Trident. "Once a recruit has proven himself ready for fulltime duty, he becomes a swordsman. He is given a broadsword, called a soldier's sword, a large kiteshield, and a set of blue pattern armor. Some, however, prefer the lighter green pattern armor sacrificing protection for speed and mobility. These men form a special regiments called a light regiment. Light regiments perform tasks that would normal swordsmen are too heavily equipted for, like rushing a weak enemy line or chasing down fleeing enemies. They have also been trained to use cover more effectively to ambush passing enemies. While not intended to fight a elite enemy, they can defeat all threats through the proper means of speed and stealth."

    Assualt Troopers

"After a swordsman achieves noted worth in battle, he may request to be part of a Assault Trooper regiment. These men forgo the shield and broadsword of regular soldiers and equipt a twohanded sword. This makes them have greater impact in a charge and stronger in their blows but also limits their defensive tactics. Their helms are modified to allow greater visiblity and they cover their entire face in charcoal to further reduce glare from the sun. The latter makes them have a have a inhylian appearance that frightens enemies who appear so willing to to die as long as they kill you first. They excel in breaking a stalemated fight and crushing a weak line of infantry but can not hold the line as long as their more defensive brethern."

When a Sword Soldier proves himself to be of exceptional quality, he is promoted to a Trident Soldier. He is given a set red pattern armor and the trident for which he is named. Some, however, prefer the green armor set for its greater mobility and less bulkiness and wear opt to wear it instead forming a 'Light' regiment of tridents. Armor strength aside, what really separates this soldier from his brethren is his trident. It is a deadly weapon with a large spear head for its main point and blades edges for slashes and chops. A trident soldier is able to kill both a armored swordsmen and a mounted mounted knight with relative ease. These men will can achieve victory in all areas you put them in, especially as flank protection and a flanking force, but do not waste them with tasks others could do.

"All soldiers who achieve the rank of swordsman are periodically tested for skill in the use of a bow. Those who show a talent are placed within a archer regiment. While this mass pruduction style of recruitment makes them a mediocre as archers, it does have benifits in other areas. Having already been proven tough melee fighters and used to wear heavy armor and weilding swords made for quality infantry, they can outfight most other countries infantry even if they close the gap before they can be shot down. The heavy armor they wear also makes them more durable in a ranged fight. They are a tough unit that can be used for many different uses, but do not excel at any one task so they should not be relied on to win the battle by themselves."

"Have faith in the armorer that his work holds. Have trust in your commander that his plan is well. Have assurance in the Goddesses that your cause is righteous" -motto of the archer corp

    Tussock Rangers

When Agahnim had gained the confidence of the young Fenwick Rolfe, commonly known as the green knight, he gave him charge of training the new archers. Fenwick saw that fewer than one in ten had even drew a bow, and fewer still had any skill in at it. There were some of skill, however. Men whose families had been fed for generations just on the surplus of their hunting trips. Bandits who lived in the dangerous food chain of the royal forests, preying on the deer even as the knights sought to prey on them. Harsh mountain men, built like bears and as silent as Sheikahs who had never asked a soul for help and no way appeared they needed it. Fenwick decided to leave the city folk to the care of their own commanders and recruit these men for his rangers. Being unused to lording over men, he instead became the first of equals, having each soldier teach his fellow. This created what almost could be deemed a new breed of archer as not just the techniques of bowmanship were taught. Herbal remedies, edible roots, signs noticeable only to those who knew them, shoes that left the prints of a wolfos, how to eat a animal so it looks like another beast did, these are just a brief showing of the collective knowledge of the Tussocks. Their battles do not last hours or days, but weeks and months as they slowly shoot and stab and poison and strangle and terrorize their enemies to death one at a time. Their unique talent can only be kept intact through extreme requirements made in order to join them. While each man's trials will vary, he usually has to be able to live alone in the forest for a full year given only a bow and three arrows as his final test. The Tussocks are the best bowmen made into one of the most lethal forces that the kingdom can offer.

"Always go for the enemy's leaders. They generally show themselves to their troops and thus make easy targets"-motto of the rangers

    Bombos Mages

When Agahnim came to Hyrule, he brought with him a strange new magic. Unlike the magic previously known in Hyrule, it did not use natural elements as its base but pure magical energy. This energy did not come from a outside force, but through one's own essence. Agahnim taught this new magic to many of the priesthood who supported him and a new order was formed. They called themselves mages. They use special medallions to create highly complex chain reaction spells that can destroy even mighty foes. This particular group has bombos medallions, a powerful flame attack. This form of magic has its cost, though. By using ones own soul, a mage is not a physically fit individual and cannot carry the burden of armor or weapons on his person. He also is often looked at as a heretical man by all but the kingdom's own and many countries have made the practice of Agahnim's magic illegal. This make the mages a mysterious and dreaded force for the common soldier of the kingdom's enemies.

"Through his travels, Agahnim learnt of the idea of cannons. Now explosives had been used by Gorons for hundreds of years so he experimented with placing a bomb into a pot, lighting the fuse, placing a iron lid on, and running away. The pot was destroyed, but the lid went sailing through his roof. Marveling at such a weapon, he instructed his weapon smiths to make him a pot strong enough to withstand a bombs blast. They made him a mortar. Its self destruction almost cost the life of the priest. After several more failed attempts, he had a working prototype which was much thicker and longer than originally thought needed. While launching stone balls were in the original design, Agahnim found that small bombs bound in thicker shells proved to be supremely effective against infantry. The only problem was volunteers. While fighting the most powerful kingdom in the world was a challenge the soldiers would take, launching a bomb by basically another bomb was a job few would want. Agahnim decided that he needed men who had no respect for their own lives but followed their gods will to the very end. He choose a regiment of assault troopers as they could be relied on to not fear the risk of the cannons, nor allow the enemy to steal them and use them against him. These cannons form a center to the armies of the golden land, but put away your swords or a sword could put away you."

While launching stone balls were in the original design, Agahnim found that small bombs bound in thicker shells proved to be supremely effective against infantry. A more powerful blast would be needed to breach the stone walls of Hyrule, however. Agahnim turned to the super bomb. A device he had a hand in making while researching the cannon, it took the Goron's powder keg and consecrated it into a ball. Previously it had been a failure of a device. Too heavy for an ordinary artillery piece to throw with any degree of accuracy or range and to powerful for a soldier to light it and live and expect the enemy not to cut the fuse. An incredible large mortar, however, could throw the bomb right into the walls without too much risk of prematurely detonating the bomb. The only problem was volunteers. While fighting the most powerful kingdom in the world was a challenge the soldiers would take, launching a bomb by basically another bomb was a job few would want. Agahnim decided that he needed men who had no respect for their own lives but followed their gods will to the very end. He choose a regiment of Blood Bombers as their experience with explosives would allow them to understand how the cannon would work and their ferocity in battle. Agahnim

    Biography
    Uncertain right now.
    Bodyguard

In the magic Agahnim brought saves the kingdom with, one uses his own soul to use as magical energy. While most can only send out a wave of energy, a man as experienced and powerful as Agahnim can actually use this energy to create copies of his soul. These soul copies have the same look as their creator and can use the power he gave them in a similar manner as wizzrobes their own. The exception being that the clone is a being of pure energy and it is easier to release his energy to strike. This makes the soul copies attack almost perfectly accurate. Also, unlike a wizzrobe, a soul copy can fight up close with great skill. It can make itself immaterial so sword pass right through it and then just touch the opponent and burn his flesh through the releasing of energy. The soul copy is not invincible, however. If it does not become immaterial fast enough, the blow will knock asunder the unity of the soul copy and its energy will disperse through the hole. This makes fighting a soul copy a game of cat and mouse with both opponents waiting for the opportunity to strike against the other. While his soul copies make his retinue a formidable force on the battlefield, do not forget that the hope for the Golden Land depends on Agahnim and if he was to die, it would be a terrible blow for the kingdom.

    King Ruprecht

    Biography
“After the death of Zelda’s father, his brother Ruprecht would have been next in the line of succession. The King had no male heir, after all, so it was all but a given, the natural way of things. Never had he anticipated to see the old ways subverted within his lifetime, just as he was about to claim his birthright. And yet that is just what happened: his dear niece, Princess Zelda, produced evidence that he had been given birth not by the then Queen but by a woman from the barbaric tribes beyond Hyrule’s borders, highborn among her people but less than a plebeian to the pureblood Hylian nobles. With this fact to support her position, along with the reputation she had made for herself during Ganon’s attack against Hyrule, she proclaimed herself sole ruler with the declared intention of starting a matriarchate.
Ruprecht made no secret of his outrage, but he found no one willing to stand against the Princess. Not among the Nobles, that is. Eventually however he was approached by Agahnim. The Grand Priest advised him not to shun and hide his mixed heritage but to brandish it like a weapon, a symbol for all the discriminated and the oppressed to gather around. Agahnim promised Ruprecht an army to defend his lands and to overthrow the upstart princess. All he had to do was claim the title of King and initiate a civil war for control of the throne. Already a middle aged man, Ruprecht did not cherish the prospect of warfare, but despite his age and being out of shape (thanks to his well known appetite), he retains the experience in combat garnered in his youth and the persuasion that his fight is right. He has complete confidence in Grand Priest Agahnim and is likely to accept any advice coming from him.”

Given his old age and overweight condition, King Ruprecht wisely prefers to fight on horseback. He is followed in battle by a contingent of horse mounted spearmen in red armor.
The King himself may not contribute much in terms of fighting prowess, but his presence on the battlefield provides an enormous boost in morale to his whole army.

    Maidens

    Biography
“Agahnim’s ultimate goal is to reach the Sacred Realm and claim the Triforce. His best chance to do so, he believes, is to gather the descendants of the Seven Sages and use their power to open a gateway. Consequently, his first order of business, upon acquiring an army and the authority to control it, was to secretly kidnap as many of them as he could. He was able to capture all with but one exception: Princess Zelda. Without the Princess, the other descendants would be of no use in accessing the Sacred Realm. Thus Agahnim orchestrated a civil war with the intent of finally seizing the last descendant.
This did not mean, however, that the six maidens could not be of any use whatsoever. Their lives were of no significance to Agahnim, all he had need of was their spirit and magic power. These could easily be entrapped in magic crystals should they perish (verily, that would be a necessary step in the ritual Agahnim had conceived to enter the Sacred Realm anyway). Therefore Agahnim took care of endowing each maiden with one such spherical crystal (affixed on an irremovable tiara) and sent them to fight his battles. Their minds were too strong to be controlled, but their wills could be broken, which he did by kidnapping all their living relatives, threatening to kill them one by one were they to disobey him.

Each of the Maidens hails from a different part of Hyrule.
The Blue Maiden comes from the southern coast.
The Yellow Maiden lived on the mountains (she has an old relative still at large, hiding there).
The Green Maiden is native of the fields in central Hyrule.
The White Maiden calls the forest her home.
The Red Maiden was born and raised on the outskirt of the desert.
The Purple Maiden lived in the canyons and hills connecting the desert and the swamp.”

The Maidens are 6 unique (different looking/colored) heroes in one unit.
If brought to a siege, there's a xx% chance of the gate opening at the start of the battle (much like if you had a spy in the enemy settlements. In fact it would be cumulative with that).
Once and only once per fight, they could cast a seal attack that if successful completely annihilates the targeted enemy unit. Aside from that, their role is similar to the Zora Healers, cheering on their soldiers to dramatically raise their stats.
Whenever running they turn into fairies, hugely increasing their speed and evade stats.
When on the campaign map they have huge line of sight (as large as a spy or slightly more)

    Nachamlow
    Biography
    Purple Knight
Name: Nachamlow (originally named Richard Certeynai)
Wielder of the Jewel of Earth
    Age: 31
Richard was born the second son of the Certeynai house and was turned over to the temple at the age of three. He was done so because his father had married a priestess and his mother insisted that the second son would be a man of the faith. She had heard of a new priest who people said cured diseases and was a great speaker who had just been announced as the new chief priest and wished her son to be taught by such a man. When Richard's mother originally requested him host her son as a protégé, Agahnim refused. He had better things to do than raising a young boy. Mrs. Certeynai was not to be denied, however. After half a year of begging him, Agahnim finally relented. He gave Richard the name of Nachamlow to break any ties he had with his family. Agahnim trained him in the ways of priesthood and brought him on his travels. The boy grow strong and wise under the guidence of the wizard. When he turned eight he took a interest with the sword and Agahnim bought him one and hired a old repented soldier to train him to fight. Nachamlow furthered both his swordsmanship and his wisdom under Agahnim and soon exceeded all of the other young priest in all pursuits and a good deal of the old ones too. He became a source of pride for both the temple and his old family and it was hoped that the young knight, for knighthood was a given through birth and not promotion, would bridge the gap between the chief priest and the nobility who had come to regret having such a stronged willed priest. Nachamlow had other intentions, however. He united many of the priesthood to Agahnim's banner and, on his own initiative, he recruited the best men-at-arms into the priesthood and trained them as a military order. Such a bold act would have involved severe reprucussions normally, but Nachamlow had the name of Agahnim and war was looming. Zelda barely even scolded the young knight. When Agahnim's rebellion started, Nachamlow was named heir and was made the second most powerful man of the Golden Land, below only the chief himself. The new heir asked his old loyalist family to join him. They told him he was no longer a Certeynai and he would be judged by the Goddesses for his place in the rebellion. He replied that he is being judged and eternal hell would be a fit place for him if he failed to kill the Heretic Queen.
Traits: Nachamlow has knowledge in matters of state and war, though excels in relegion and theology. His presense make all troops under him have increased morale.

    Brennen Drede
    Biography
    Red Knight
    Name: Brennen Drede
Wielder of the Jewel of Fire
    Age: 26
The house of Drede has always had strong and fierce hiers, but none as much as Brennen Drede. At a early age he was trained in many forms of combat. His father sent him to distant lands to have him prepared for any opponent. Despite his complete dominance of his peers, his father was not satisfied. He saw that Brennen could be a man to conquer kingdoms and was fully determined to make him just that. Completely ignoring all other forms of learning, he taught his son the art of war, the way to kill a man, and to keep his body in peak condition. At the mere age of fifteen, he could scewer a man at full gallop, best veterans at sword, and almost matered the styles of Hylian, Gerudo, and Goron unarmed combat. His achievements were only eclipsed by his pride. He came right up to the Commander of the Hylian army demanding a full generalship and a army to conquer a country. Any country. The commander refused. The main problem being that there was no war at the time and a man like Brennen would surely cause one if given a army. This enrage the young knight, who then struck the old man down in his rage. A search for the murder was soon issued and that would have been theend of Brennen Drede if Agahnim wouldn't have found him first. He pitied the youth and hid him as one of the priesthood on the condition that he could not speak a word for three years. Those three years were the longest of Brennen's life. No boasting of his strength and skill. No opponents to fight. All he did was train and attend Agahnim's sermons at the command of his host. At the end he was a different man. Instead of the rash, hotheaded youth he would go so far as to command his commanders, he was a calm, hard man who what a man does means more than what he says he can do. Agahnim then gave him a mission. Build him a army worthy of Mordor. Brennen was greatly please. He had eight years to train his men and he used his own training method to do it. His secret army will conquer the world if he has his way. On his reemergence he was named Master of the Armies of the Golden Land
Traits: Having been taught since birth to wage war, he is a master of battle, able to command armies as most generals do men. He leads by example which gives his men heart to fight. He is a harsh master. Unable to either understand weakness nor forgive it.
    Bodyguard

These soldiers will crush any opponent you bring them against, just don't waste there time with small prey.

    Athalos Waltern
    Biography
    Blue Knight
    Name: Althalos Waltern
Wielder of the Jewel of Water
    Age: 29
Althalos was born to a wealthy house who traded with most parts of the kingdom from Ordona to the cold North and from Goron City to the Gerudo Fortress. His father used his position as a knight to hold a advantage over his competition and thus the house of Waltern became a powerful force in the world of economics which, as Althalos's father would say, was the life blood of all endeavors performed by civilized creatures like Hylians. His father made sure that Althalos understood the necessity of knowing all of ones stores and would make him check the cellars of his home to do inventory after banquets. When Althalos was twelve, he found a little Gerudo girl among the wine. Despite nearly getting stabbed by the Gerudo, he thought it was his duty to protect this girl seeing that he was a knight and they protect the helpless. He brought he some bread and water, told her to stay where she was at, and went back to his work checking the wine. After he was done, she told him she was called Zahria Nejem by her people and he must keep the fact she was here a secret or else 'they' would get her. He said he would not tell and kept his word. However, his father, ever a old miser, noticed that his grain houses were missing some food. When he went to question his son on how this happened, Althalos kept silent on the extra burden. His father said he obviously either kept a bad record or was lying about something and ordered a guardsman to punish his son. Now Zahria had been eavesdropping on the business of the missing food and heard that Althalos was to be punished, which she thought in her nine year old mind meant death. She ran out knife drawn and stabbed the guardsman in the arm and began pulling Althalos away so he could run. The wounded guardsman grabbed Zahria and pulled out his sword to kill her. Althalos drew his own knife and cut the guardsman in his good hand. Things would have really gotten out of order if Althalos's father wouldn't have ordered everybody to stop. After a brief explanation of the matter by Althalos, his father decided that it would be ill to kill a girl who his son had shown himself ready to fight a armed soldier over. He allowed her as a slave to live under Althalos protection. This didn't suit Zahria well because she had just escaped the same fate from her own country, but between that and death, she choose the former. While she was called a slave, Althalos treated her better than any young lady at court, often to the point that the other households looked at him as a Gerudo lover. While Athalos had no real liking to the Gerudos, he had come to love Zahria to the point that, when he turned eighteen he outright married her. This was a development that some knights vowed they would not allow. For such a powerful house's son to mix with Gerudo blood was considered dangerous. One day when Zahria was in her garden made for her by her new husband, they came and cut her down. They then called out to Athalos saying to forget his lust for dark skin and get a Hylian wife worthy of the blood in his viens. Athalos, horrified and enraged by the murder of his wife, had his servants close and bar the gates and led his guardsmen against the knights, killing everyone who hadn't run off. Now this posed quite a problem for the Hylian judges. While it was true that the knights had murderd a lord's wife, they only had killed a Gerudo and were important political men. They told Althalos to forget the incident and return back to his life. Further angered by this, Athalos vowed to make the knights of Hyrule pay for Zahria's death. After he built her tomb, he was approached by a mysterious man in Sheikah garments called Agahnim. Agahnim promised him vengence and hinted of the possibility of the returning of Zahria to him. Athalos eagerly agreed and pledged the wealth of the Waltern's would provide him with enough money to forge a army capable of defeating hyrule. Upon the start of the rebellion, Athalos was named Master of Coin. He never remarried.
Traits: Althalos had never really been interested with war so his knowlege on the subject his limited but with time he could be a great general. He is a master trader, builder, tax man and, governor and his leadership can make a pile of rubble a gleeming city in a fortnight.

    Fenwick Rolfe
    Biography
    Green Knight
    Name: Fenwick Rolfe
Wielder of the Jewel of Wind
    Age: 23
Born a mere twenty three years before the rebellion, Fenwick is the youngest of the four. His line is a exceptionally poor one whose little land is so densely forested and mountainous that it impossible to even farm one field. The lord and peasants alike rely on hunting to sustain themselves throughout the year. It was through this hunting that young Fenwick learnt all of his knowledge of warfare. While other knights were learning to write, play court, and joust, he learnt how to bring down a deer at full sprint, grab a fish right out of the water, and how to avoid even the most keen of predators. When he turned sixteen, his father sent him to court to make more of himself than he was born as. The other lordlings and men of court shunned him, branding him as a uneducated country hick who shouldn't be in the same class as themselves. Fenwick found solace in the poor, common men who served the other knights. They told him of secret hunting paths, strange herbal remedies, and of a bold new priest who proclaimed that any Hylian should reap what he sows. Fenwick made a point of attending all of this priest's sermons, a fact that further ostracized from the other nobles. Agahnim made note of this new disciple and spoke with him privately. Being the first at court to speak with him as a equal, fenwick quickly agreed to help Agahnim in whatever endeavor he was going to be in. In return, Agahnim would raise his family to better status. Seeing his prodigious skill at the longbow, Agahnim bade him to train first class archers to be used in his new army. Fenwick trained the Tussock Rangers. General Rolfe now serves as the master archer and chief ranger for the Golden Land. He wears regular knight armor, which he insists would cost him as much as his old house was worth, at the insistens of Agahnim who told him that his presence as a leader of men would mean more on the battlefield than his skill at bow.
Traits: While he has a notion of the general method of warfare, he excels in ambushes and defenses fights. His closeness with the common people makes him a good person to increase the happiness of a town he is in, but he lacks the heart to agressivly tax or punish knowing full well the meaning of hunger and poverty. His great knowledge of the land makes him able to move his army through faster paths that others would not even know of.

    Chief Soldier
    Biographies
The leaders of the Kingdom's armies are some of the best men in the kingdom, being both wise and skilled in warfare. They do not have the title of general, but chief, referring back in time to the heathen humans on old. These ancient men did not follow men of noble birth into battle, but would elect local leaders to be the chief of their war efforts. Likewise, these modern chieftains do not lead by the power of better birth, but through the consent of their soldiers. When a man thinks himself fit to be a chief, he approaches the highest ranking priest available and is interviewed to see if he is capable of holding the position. If he passes the priest inspection, he then is brought before his fellow soldiers. He must attain two thousand five hundred votes for him and not have five hundred against him. If he is elected as a chief, he is sent to the current chief of the host and his further trained under him for three years. After this time, he is a full fledged chief and is ready to lead his men against the alien, the mutant, the heretic.

    Sir Zanji, Fencing Master???
    Biography
“Once a Royal Knight, Sir Zanji fought with great valor in the war against Ganon, admiring from afar the leadership of Princess Zelda. It was in that war that he lost his brother, also a knight. With his last words, he asked Sir Zanji to look after his pregnant wife… but before he could fulfil this promise, the settlement in which she lived was attacked and though it was not conquered she went missing.
The war ended and burdened by his oath, Sir Zanji retired and took to wandering through Hyrule in the hope of someday finding his brother’s wife or their child. To sustain himself in this endeavour he took to imparting fencing lessons to the recruits of the Hylian army in whatever town or castle he stopped by. He however never did teach anybody his family’s secret whirlwind blade technique.
When the war broke out between Hyrule and the secessionist territories, he found himself on the wrong side of the newly established frontier. Faced with the choice to abandon his quest and return to the ranks of Hyrule, he decided instead to enlist in the army of the traitorous Agahnim, believing that this will allow him to discover and expose the sorceror’s true motives and objectives, hopefully ending this insane civil war.”

    Bodyguard
Distrustful of the seasoned veterans that chose to side with Agahnim, Sir Zanji goes into battle with a group of recruits clad in red armor, personally selected and trained by him. As an added benefit, his expertise serves to compensate for their inexperience, just as their youth does for his old age.
He nurtures great hopes for them and would want nothing more but to see them serving under the flag of Hyrule after the end of the civil war.

Farming is a hard life. Besides the hard labor it takes to tend to a field, a farmer also has to deal with the creatures that plague Hyrule. Actual weapons are too expensive for a serf, so the farmer uses what he already has, like a pitchfork or a shovel. He does have a unique weapon that even the most hungry monster do not take lightly: bees. Beekeeping has been part of Hylian agriculture for centuries, but recently a new breed has come forth which the keepers use to defend himself with. Unlike normal bees which lose their stingers when they sting which causes them to die, these bees can sting unlimitedly. A fact that means they can be used without fear that it would cause a collapse in the bee population. They also seem to have the intelligence to tell who their master is as they do not sting him and return to their hives after a short time. This trait has been used by the farmers as a way to make money by selling the bees and waiting for them to return once they have been released. These keepers bring their bees into battle making them a interesting addition to the kingdom's army.

    The Team:
Opus: Unofficial team leader, 3d modeler, fan lore writer. Started this mod.
Ethereal Lancer 916/Etheral117: Concept Artist. Created a large portion of the designs for the mod
Eldren: fan lore writer and idea organizing. Helped strengthened core ideas and expand on new ones.
    Duke Serkol: Suggestions and concepts.
DiddlyDark: Real armor concept images. Made sure I didn't put a kilt on these guys. (hasn't been involved since the second attempt at this, but I would feel bad not mentioning him as he did shape the design of the soldier)

    Awesome! I can't wait!
    Two questions -
1: If you had to give these guys a generalisation (e.g. Hyrule is balanced, Darknut is expert melee, Ordona is cavalry, etc.), what would it be? Pretty good defence, decent attack, lacking in stamina and morale?

2: Are the unpossessed castle guards from aLttP going to feature? Before you enter the castle for the first time, they give you advice and don't attack you on sight. I looked for a picture, couldn't find one. Edit: Got my own pictures! See attached

In the River Zora thread in the development section Neph hinted these guys will be in the main game, and possibly one of the two mystery factions. So we may all get our wish officially.

Great work though, especially for someone who has never done it before.

And it's kind of funny because it happened literally just a few hours ago.

Actually, those are guards that are starting to get possessed (you can tell from the eyes... and one of them tells you he is feeling strange and you shoudl get away)
If you want to see unpossessed guards, you have to check the ending.

and they are also all over the castle in ALttP's sequel, Ancient Stone Tablets.

Concerning the model, Opus don't forget the thingy on top of the helmet!

    It's vital!

Anyway, it's great to see you again and know that you didn't give up

    @Mattwensley
I would describe the faction as one that has a excellent infantry selection, bowmen that are not as accurate as others (but their bowmen are good melee fighters. I will explain later after I talk with my team.), but their cavalry is lacking and expensive. As far as good at attack goes, that is for rebalancing so I can't really say, but the faction will have good armor, but bad stamina in general so peltast like skirmishers would be able to kill many soldiers before they can reach them at all until they get their elite soldiers.

Yes those guys will make a appearence, but the rest of the soldiers are not possessed any way. When they opened civil war against Zelda, she had them declared to be magically brainwashed to try and stem the rebellion from getting more supporters from the commoners.

    @Mjolnr839
I believe that the unique look we have for these soldiers, as well as the impressive unit list for them we have made, will create a faction that will stand out from Neph's work, but also fit into it with little problems.

    @Duke Serkol
As I stated before, we do not think that the soldiers are possessed, but that they willfully joined a rebellion. Now they have because a soldier uses blackeye while on duty to reduce the glare of the sun, and also to frighten enemies who never saw a Hylian look like a Twili. I will see about the helm's crest after I get the model done in the other parts. BTW Nice mask

"Think"? I believe you meant "we do not intend for the soldiers to be possessed".
Got no problem with that, I was only clarifying things for Matt.

So they are applying warpaint around the eyes? Neat idea.

Actually, we already spoke to Neph about it maybe a week or so ago. Eldren slightly jumped the gun on that, but at least Neph managed to not let the cat out of the bag before we actually went public!

I think he meant a public acknowledgement that something related to ALttP styled armor would be in the mod, which I did just a few hours before this thread showed up. As far as the actual soldiers, they've been on the roster of one of the factions in the development forum for some time now. Apparently no one noticed them though since said faction was buried under the threads of all the other factions.

I can't believe I missed that. They're just with the sheikah all along. That also takes away my confusion on wether they or the river zora will be the mystery faction

Now that i finally see a picture of them, i'm guessing Hollow Knights.

    I see!
Hopefully the soldiers will be based on these guys

    and the archers on these

    We will still need recruits

    and a Chief Soldier though

Concerning Opus' submod... have you considered going with green Agahnim?

you know, to differentiate him from the Red one Neph went with.

We were going to use that young, slim, green Agahnim as the base design for Agahnim. Dragonariaes is actually Eldren's brother, if I understood him right.

Maybe a bit too slim... I'd suggest letting his clothes fall a little looser on his sides. And possible slightly bluer skin.

Dragonariaes is not my brother. not Sher where you got that. but this faction is a go! MY DREAMS ARE FULFILLED!!!! i can die in peas............... shhhhh, Stalfos let me sleep......

PS: Duke Serkol is the NEW Majora Barer. and he has convinced Majora it's in his best interest not to play armageddon, but conquest.

NO I AM MAJORA, Duke Serkol is but a mere puppet that can no longer be used and is thus mere garbage
    I shall consume... consume everything

Yes yes, you both claim to be Majora. But, can either one of you claim to be Ben?
