I have been thinking and it may be for the best. To add the Marian reform for the Roman Empire to transition it from the empire of late antiquity to the empire of the dark ages, I.e. the rise of the thematic armies and the beginnings of iconoclasm - triggered if the Muslims manage to conquer Egypt, Palestine and Syria. For the Sassanians I don't know, because they just collapsed, but maybe at least for the Romans. Let me know what you guys think.

Given the time frame of the mod a Thematic reform event does sound suitable since the themes started around the period the mod takes place. Also a thing to consider is the units if such an event were to take place, will new units be added post reform and some taken away? I have little knowledge on this but i'm sure AnthoniusII will pop in eventually and give more info since he's one of the go to experts on the late eastern roman army.

Themes were not formulated until after the Arab Conquest initiated under the Emperor Constans II around the 640's as most scholars currently agree. Most people think it was Heraclius because of what was written in Theophanes chronicle but even if he did, any reform of the army would not have taken place until his great march in 622 after the Persians conquered Egypt, Syria, Palestine and most of Anatolia which is ten years after my mod.
I know, the date in the mod title had 612-710 so I assumed that was date the mod was going to run and a quick search showed that the themes emerged around 640's as you said. Which is why I said a thematic reform event would fit in well with the mod.
Yup, you are correct. Sorry I misread what you wrote.

That looks nice, are these going to be the generals bodyguard?
No man.its late unit of arabs.elite cavalry.general bodyguards ll be different.
after this i ll need to create
arab captain
arab general
arab caliph(i afraid if its sin or no.maybe u should do that guy)
a light cavalryman
general bodyguards.
i suppose its enough.arabs are not even playable.they do not need very detailed balanced roster.they ll appear later in the game.after i finish if i ve wish, time i can begin another faction.
The Scoutatoi are so awesome, canīt wait to field a late late late Roman Legion in the field.

New Roman Clibanarii
I based the reworked units on all of the Clibanarii images out there from the 6th Century due to the fact that again there is no clear depiction of what Clibanarii would look like in the 7th century.
The units are based on the fact that by this time armor was heavily influenced by their Persian, Avar and Germanic neighbors, hence the lamellar armor. Since the armor was expensive to make only commanders and heavy cavalry units could afford to purchase and maintain their kits.
