Seeing that the queries about the ZIP version of the game were not ending, I decided to provide an automated installer.

    Link at MediaFire:

    Westeros 0.53 - 79.246KB (75.5MB) - 13th December 2010
    Downloads as of 12th April 2012 = 14.350

    Installation:

    - Download the EXE file and run by double clicking
    - Click "OK" and "Next" wherever applicable
    - The installer looks up the directory in the registry, no need to change the directory:
    - DO NOT CHANGE THE INSTALLATION DIRECTORY UNLESS YOU INSTALL FOR STEAM!!
    - Click the desktop short cut and enjoy

    Recommendation and note:

    - It is highly recommended to install the patch for kingdoms version 1.05, links can be found here.
    - The installer will install a registry entry for use with the 'normal' (non Steam) Launcher

    Attention Steam users:

    - refer to my tutorial Creating a World - Mod Install for Steam on how to do it your way

    Important note regarding crashes:

I will only entertain questions that have to do with the game start. So if your game crashes after a few rounds, please post in another thread or open your own.
Do the following when encountering an error on game start:

    1. To get more detailed information, proceed as follows: open ...\Medieval II Total War\mods\Westeros\Configuration.cfg with Notepad, remove the existing hash sign (red) and add a new one (blue), save.
    [log]
    to = logs/M2TW.system.log.txt
    #level = * trace
    #level = * error
    2. Start your game again
    3. Post here stating when the crash happened (eg which screen, what button pressed last) and which message (if any) you got.
    4. Compress your log and attach it with your post.

Note to 64 bit system owners: see this post for installation

Thanks gigantus. I had planned to do this for the final version of the mod but never got around to it for this version.

    Great job
Though I think you don't really mean 13th December 2011.
Or do we have to wait 1 year for the download come online?

    @ Grymloq

Please follow the reporting (crash) steps in the first post and report back with a trace log, your log is still in error mode.

It appears you are running version 1.04 of kingdoms (basic install of the campaigns)
    version bld-medieval2-kingdoms-104
Please confirm by going into "Options" and checking the small number on the top right. It is recommended to update to version 1.05

    Check here for links: M2TW Update 1.5, 1.3 & 1.2 Download Links

I would recommend it, similar problems with the third Age mod were fixed by simply installing the patch for version 1.05.

Edit: I will add this recommendation to the installation instructions.

    3. You can find your log here: Medieval II Total War\logs/M2TW.system.log.txt - check for entries with [error] in it.
    4. For more detailed information change the following entry in the CFG file: remove the existing hash sign (red) and add a new one (blue):

    Quote:
    [log]
    to = logs/M2TW.system.log.txt
    #level = * trace
    #level = * error

Could you explain this in a better way, please?
Before installing 1.5 I'm trying everything to make this mod playable, so I'm checking with more attention the log.

    Sorry for being so annoying

I tried as you said, but still doesn't work. If I install 1.5, its features will be also in the mods I've installed?
However + rep for your help

I honestly don't know what the problem is with your installation. Are you saying you edited the CFG file in your mod (...\Medieval II Total War\mods\Westeros\Configuration.cfg) and you still don't get a log in the ...\Medieval II Total War\logs folder after trying to run the mod (Westeros)?

Edit: at the moment I have about a dozen downloads every day without any comebacks. I am starting to believe that it is the installation of your main game that might be wrong.
To cross check please download my very small mod\resource Creating a World - Bare Geomod and try to run it.

Quick thought: did you change the installation directory when you installed Westeros?

I didn't change the directory (is correct \med2\mods\westeros?) and with your mod still doesn't work (BTW +rep for your work). I tried to modify the log as you said, but still crashed.
Then I opened the log of another mod and wrote on westeros cfg the same of cfg of the other mod (excuse my ignorance) but crashed again. Now I'm thinking of downloading 1.5 even if I don't like most of its features.

Edit: I can't rep you now

If Bare Geomod doesn't work, then there is a problem with your basic installation of Med2.
Are there any mods for the game on your machine that work?

Check if your directory for med2 looks like this:

Bare Geomod works and is very good, but Westeros doesn't. My folder is like yours (but with less mods!)

    Only one thing to do:

    - Manually delete the mods\westeros folder
    - Re-install the Westeros mod

Do not change the install directory!

I did as you said, but the crash remains , I'll wait for 1.0 release, hoping that I'll able to play (however it's strange, I have 7 mods installed and this is the only one that ever cause me starting problems)

Thanks for your help (when I will able to rep you again, I'll do it)
