Do you indentify yourself with a certain political party: No
    Religion: Agnostic/Atheist

    Abortion: Not really my say.
    War in Iraq: Against
    Marijuana: Legalise
    Firearms: Should be illegal
    Gay Marriage: For it
    Gay adoption: For it
Religion in schools: In a theology class it's fine. As long as it doesn't assert itself as fact.
    Death penalty: Against
Obama: Angers me that he has to lie about things that he probably supports, gay marriage, pulling troops OUT of the war entirely, tax increases, etc.
UN: Great concept, although it doesn't seem to do squat.
EU: I suppose it's better than a bunch of crazy nationalistic states trying to strangle each other.
Israel: If we could let go of the religious superiority complex, we might have ourselves a nice country!
Palestine: As awful, and terrible as it sounds, it may be a bit too late to revive Palestine.

    DOB: december 15
    Country of Residence: United States
    Nationality: American
Political Compass Result: The correct view
Where do you put yourself on the political spectrum: the Correct side
Do you indentify yourself with a certain political grouping (socialist, neocon, etc): No
Do you indentify yourself with a certain political party: No
    Religion: Catholic/the right religion
    Abortion: not sure.
War in Iraq: get it over with
    Marijuana: Legalize
Firearms: Legal, anyone who says otherwise is a huge noob
    Gay Marriage: don't care. it's a non-issue
    Gay adoption: don't care
Religion in schools: Sure, anyone who gets offended is a bigot.
    Death penalty: For.
Obama: i haven't kept up with him. its not like i can do anything to change what he's doing anyway.
UN: Great concept, although it doesn't seem to do squat.
EU: don't care. except what are their goals and interests.
Israel: needs to stop leeching off the US, should act more independent. it's like a 51st state.
Palestine: As awful, and terrible as it sounds, it may be a bit too late to revive Palestine.
USA: is better than every other country in the world.
Abortion: The pregnant woman doesn't carry a toothbrush in her womb, nor a tumor. Science teaches that from the moment of conception, the new being has all the genetic code. It's impressive. It's not, therefore, a religious question but clearly a moral one, based on science.
Homosexuals: Gay marriage is "an anthropological step backward. If there's a private union, then third parties and society aren't affected. But if they're granted marriage rights and can adopt, there could be children affected. Every person needs a masculine father and a feminine mother to help them settle their identity."
Feminism: A philosophy of constant feminism doesn't give the woman the dignity she deserves. ... It runs the risk of becoming machismo in skirts.

Country of Residence: United Kingdom of Great Britian and Northern Ireland: that's right, a kingdom, with a proper King (or, erm, Queen) and everyting!
    Nationality: British/English/None
Political Compass Result: These are my results, but I regard the test as stupid and absurd, as well as deeply conservative (extra-small c). One is forced to to structure one's answers profoundly within the coordinates of the composer's ideology, so the 'test' is largely meaningless.
    Economic Left/Right: -8.25
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -8.72
Where do you put yourself on the political spectrum: Libertarian Socialist/Council Comunist/Anarcho-Syndicalist.
Do you indentify yourself with a certain political grouping (socialist, neocon, etc):As above
Do you indentify yourself with a certain political party:Not really, but the two main socialist parties in the UK are working together next elections, so I might help with that.
Religion: Christianity. The kind Jesus liked, with comunality of goods, particular respect for the downtrodden and outcast, and so on.

Abortion: Absolutely support early on, just like St. Augustine.
War in Iraq: Hideous crime. Makes me question my opposition to the death penalty.
Marijuana: Legal to all over 18. Its less damaging in almost all respects than alcohol, including in inducing psychosis, which it is most blamed for. Alcoholic psychosis is common, Cannabis induced psychosis is rare, even ajusting for rates of usage.
Firearms: Ambivilent. Largely in favour of the option of ownership and opposed to production.
Gay Marriage: Same as straight in the eyes of the state, given that it (either the state or marriage) exists.
Gay adoption: Same criteria as straight couples or single adopters. The science shows gay couples make just as good parents eliminating other factors and slightly better parents keeping in other factors.
Religion in schools: Socially funded education should teach about religions and non-religions present in the milleiu in which they are situated as an academic subject, and should be utterly non-partisan. Organised private religious education of a faith based kind is fine too.
Death penalty: An attempt to destroy the industructible, i.e. the imminence of the neighbour. Horrific, uncivilised and certainly the most anti-Christian thing I can think of. So why do so many Christians support it?

United States: Last best hope on earth.
Abortion: Limited in cases of incest and the health of the birth giver.
War in Iraq: Undecided, I was deployed to Iraq as a Marine and the people are certainly better off now then they were before. They still dont use toilet paper though, left hand and a bottle of water.
Marijuana: Legalize and regulate it like cigarettes.
Firearms: Needed to defend property and life. To defend against a tyrannical government. What if the colonists had no rifles?
Gay Marriage: Why? The unability to reproduce is defeating of the purpose of marriage.
Gay adoption: Against. Men and women are needed to raise healthy children.
Religion in schools: Same as it is now in America.
Death penalty: Tough one because life is precious, except in the case of murders, pedophiles and terrorists.
Israel:Needs to be defended by the free world.
Obama: Cult of personality and it sickens me and I will leave it at that. If Americans wanted socialism then we would have had it long ago, that is why there are other countries.

You cannot pick and choose what to follow from your holy books. If you are truly a Christian, you must follow the bible by the letter. One read through Leviticus, where the disabled are barred from Church attendance, and homosexuals should be the least of your worry. It's the whole book or none of it, and to follow the whole book is to be immoral.
    So it goes.

Another example in the textbook is that it refers to Muhammed as "the prophet Muhammed" and Jesus as "a man who claimed to be God"

    Life Philosophy: Mutualism

Abortion: Should be legal up until viable for outside life
    War in Iraq: Against
Marijuana: Should be legalized for all purposes
Drugs in General: Controlled regulation but ultimately legal
Firearms: Should be guaranteed with moral and psychological evaluation
Education: Currently fascist job factories with little emphasis creativity and ingenuity. Ideally free for all with emphasis on thinking and reasoning.
Imperialism: Just like it's necessary to help out those in your community it's necessary to help other countries in our world. The emphasis however should be on help and not corporate success.
Communism: A good idea but nearly impossible to effectively manage on the large scale.
Socialism: Capitalism without as much corporate corruption.
Capitalism: A good idea but nearly impossible to offer an impetus to business to perform in the interest of the community rather than simply their bottom line.
    Gay Marriage: Pro
    Gay adoption: Pro
Religion in schools: No, ethics and morality however should be present to teach secular ideals.
Religious Attitude: Religion is the antithesis of evidence based logic and conceited in it's claim of truth. Against all faith based reasoning.
Death penalty: Against, the murderer(s) of a murderer is(are) murder(s).
Obama + Biden: Have many good ideas, ultimately better than Maccain + Palin. Against a couple of their progressive but fascist attitudes.
UN: Ultimately useless with no power.
Patriotism/Nationalism: Ultimately proud of what we got right but accepting of the fact we're not perfect.
Israel: Pro, if only they could get rid of their religious atmosphere
Palestine: Pro, if only they could get rid of their religious atmosphere
Global Warming: Accepting but only moderately concerned.
Genetically Modified Crops: Pro, once proven safe
    Organic Foods: Against
Animals: I think they should be treated kindly but I will always pick a human over an animal. A pet is only as good as his owner.
China: Fascist with a slow progression towards freedoms. Relations are important.
Russia: Fascist with a slow progression towards freedoms. Relations are important.
EU: The only credible threat to American military and economic supremacy. Relations are extremely important.
Healthcare: Ultimately some reform needs to take place with emphasis on universal healthcare.
Law: Emphasis on personal (individual) freedoms and regulation to prevent infringement on personal freedoms. All organizations and institutions however need to be regulated.
Torture: Ultimately wrong for any reason.
Science vs Ethics: Science; however scientists should be responsible for the direct side-effects of their inventions.
Immigration: Open borders and re-educate immigrants to assimilate properly into American society, then become stricter with any who might still attempt to be illegal

The greatest threat to Science is the illusion of knowledge.

Country of Residence: England, United Kingdom
    Nationality: British
    Political Compass Result: Economic Left/Right: -8.75 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.10
Where do you put yourself on the political spectrum: Far-left
Do you identify yourself with a certain political grouping (socialist, neocon, etc): Anarcho-syndicalist
Do you identify yourself with a certain political party: No
    Religion: None

Abortion: On-demand with consent from the person who is pregnant.
War in Iraq: Against. Illegal, unjust and in the interests of big business.
Marijuana: Legal although the distribution should be moderated to avoid problems.
    Firearms: Illegal
    Gay Marriage: For/Pro
    Gay adoption: For/Pro
Religion in school/society: Religion should only interfere with education if the child chooses to take that class - no force should be used. In society, religion should be separate from the state but completely allowed and viewed with harmony.
Death penalty: Against. Prisons should be for rehabilitation and not for brutal punishment.
Patriotism/Nationalism: Strongly and utterly against. Abolish all nations!
USA: Strongly against. A hub for capitalistic and imperialistic ideas.
Healthcare: A free, state healthcare for all.

    The Political Compass

    Economic Left/Right: -2.12
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.92

    DOB:
    15 May 1979
Country of Residence: United States, Florida
Nationality: Irish/Italian/Scandinavian, but I swear in Tagalog and eat everything with a spoon, which my wife claims makes me an honorary Filipino.
    Political Compass Result: see above
Where do you put yourself on the political spectrum: Fiscally conservative, socially moderate
Do you indentify yourself with a certain political grouping (socialist, neocon, etc): Nope
Do you indentify yourself with a certain political party: Republican-ish, but soured by the social conservative movement.
    Religion: Agnostic
Life Philosophy: Live and let live, unless they step on my toes

Abortion: Should be legal but alternatives need to be strongly supported and available
War in Iraq: Strongly against originally, now in favor of seeing through to the best conclusion possible
Afghanistan: Completely different situation - necessary, and a must-win for both us and the Afghans
Marijuana: Should be legalized in place of alcohol and tobacco, both of which are associated with far worse physiologically and behavioral consequences
Drugs in General: Legalized, and heavily laced with sterilization agents and nerve toxins - survival of the least stupid, please.
Firearms: Federalized (and consistent) legalization of regulated possession for semi-automatic long arms and handguns with psychological evaluation, federal concealed carry rules consistent across all 50 states.
Education: Needs to be accountable to scientific standards of good practice. Teachers unions need to go away, and pay should be directly based on student, parent, and peer reviews coupled with test scores
Imperialism: It's important that superpowers retain the right and inclination to assist nations in peril, but must also be allowed to serve own self-interest when necessary.
Communism: A wonderful concept invented by people who never actually had a job. Completely ineffective in the face of human nature. In practice, virtually synonymous with despotism.
Socialism: communism without the guns - or the organization.
Capitalism: The best of a bunch of bad systems, but requires consistent and vigilant governmental oversight.
Gay Marriage: Sure, let 'em be miserable too.
Gay adoption: Can't be worse than most natural parents.
Religion in schools: No. No. Did I say "no" yet?
Religious Attitude: Religion is a great way of controlling stupid people in the short term. Unfortunately in the long term the inmates take over the asylum and you get organized religions, which are almost universally a blight on humanity.
Death penalty: Against, solely for practical reasons. It's cheaper to lock em up for life, and once in a while the justice system gets it wrong. Better to be able to apologize and release a wronged individual. On the other hand, I advocate high-end 3rd world style prison conditions (no cable TV, limits on health care).
Obama: A historical and cultural landmark. Good intentions, but a too-ambitious agenda up against essentially impossible odds.
UN: A useful hand-puppet for the great powers, but completely unable to achieve anything of use.
Patriotism/Nationalism: I'm proud to be an American, I'm just not proud of everyone else who is.
Israel: Pro, generally. They're like a really nasty dog that doesn't like anybody but us, and chews on our enemies so we don't have to. They're thugs, though, and I don't care for their religious right (makes ours look warm and fuzzy by comparison). And am I the only person who's confused as to why it's in the middle east and not, say, Bavaria? That would certainly have addressed the moral issue of its establishment.
Palestine: Seriously, what the hell would they do if they *did* get their country back? They can't even run a *fake* government.
Global Warming: Seems like the preponderance of the evidence supports climate change. I'm worried, but I'm also hoping to have beachfront property here in Orlando in a generation or so. Hopefully, Disney will also wind up underwater.
Genetically Modified Crops: Pro, but legacy strains and biodiversity must be carefully preserved.
Organic Foods: Seems to miss the point. The point should be safe food, not a pseudo-religious yuppie political fetish.
Animals: Delicious. Except for dogs and dolphins, who should be genetically engineered to talk and have thumbs.
China: A fairly benign despotism, slowly arcing towards capitalism and democracy. Be friendly, but let 'em know every time they cross the line.
Russia: Increasingly despotic, with the cooperation of a populace who desperately want to be told what to do by a strongman so they can get back to breaking the law and victimizing each other.
EU: Remember the joke about heaven being the place where the police are british, the cooks are italian, the lovers are french, and it's all organized by the germans? Well, this is the other half of the joke.
Healthcare: Completely useless without provisions to bring down provider costs. This isn't about evil insurance companies, appealing as that answer is - it's about inefficient treatment and an excessive level of spending on pointless end-of-life care.
Law: Keep order in the streets, the enemy away from the gates, an eye on corporations and wall street, provide for the truly dysfunctional, and let individual people be responsible for the rest.
Torture: Ultimately counterproductive in most cases (not to mention ethically shady). So in summary, not acceptable behavior by any nation. On the other hand, if I had to rescue my daughter from a gang of rapists and had to find out where they were from a gang member, I'd happily saw off his fingers one at a time with a bandsaw and stuff them into his various orifices (yes, I can see you counting out there - just remember, doubling up *is* possible in *every* case). So unacceptable in principle, but occasionally useful in practice. Just not okay institutionally.
Science vs Ethics: Both important. We need ethicists to tell us when we're creating monsters, but philosophers don't produce vaccines or airplanes. And please, please keep the church out of both.

    Economic Left/Right: -3.75
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.21
More liberal/left than i actually thought (but i guess the statistic is normed in the US).

EDIT: Interesting, i have relatively similar views as cave sexte and our test results also seem to have a meaningful correlation.
