Thanks.
Like all Roman Legionaries, they look pretty cool.
Red, Blue, Red, Blue any Green Legionaries?![]()
Brony huh?
Lorica segementata????? That legion was Levied during the Civil wars of Mark antony and Augustus. There was no Lorica segementata those times
Imagine if theres a submod that makes legions accurately trasnform from Lorica hamata To lorica segementata in their accurate periods, Right now X Fretensis is just another historical Legion I Will have to dish out because they wear Segementated armor instead of chain mails. I Won't recruit them until its right to do it
Right now we're working on a WIP submod call The Year of Four Emperors, which takes places during the late 1st century AD, in which we are going to be changing the hamatas to segmentatas. I believe we're only leaving the I Germanica, V Alaudae, and III Gallica as hamatas.
Unfortunately it's not possible to simply upgrade them via armour upgrades, like in M2TW.
I believe the X Fretensis would have used Lorica Squamata in the 1-2nd Centuries AD, no?![]()

Given that the first known example of segmentata dates from 9 BC, it's not inconceivable that segmentata was introduced very soon after Augustus' remodelling of the Roman army, so they may have, in fact, only worn hamata for a relatively short while (from 42 BC until some point after 27 BC) which is not a lot of time compared to, say, some of the other legions that had been around for longer (Legiones I Germanica through to X Gemina - they may have acquired the nicknames later, but they were around from at least the 60's BC).
Also, the way that RSII's recruitment has been set up is that pretty much if it was around under Caesar or Pompey, it's available pre-Curia Hostilia (e.g. pre-Augustan reforms), but from then onwards, they end up being available in the Curia, as one of the "Imperial" legions, which is why they have segmentata.
In another thread, there's some discussion of releasing an update which brings the Caesarean legions (i.e. the early named and numbered legions) up to Imperial standard (i.e. rectangular scuta, Imperial Gallic helmets, and yes, some would have segmentata).

I completely agree with this. In fact, in digs of that early-mid 1st century period, almost everything that is found is piecemeal relics of lorica segementata, that you can actually feel and touch.
