I agree, presentation is the only area in which i have total confidence in CA (specially after the almost masterpiece -on that matter- that Shogun 2 was).

(for what i remember of EB, its in the opposite extreme, they go way too ethnical in my opinion, there is a soft spot in the middle)
Es posthumus has an album called Unearthed whch is more symphonic
In keeping with the theme of "all things past", each of the thirteen tracks on the album is named after an ancient and abandoned or destroyed city: Antissa ,Tikal, Harappa, Ulaid, Ebla, Nara, Cuzco, Nineveh, Lepcis Magna, Menouthis, Estremoz, Pompeii,Isfahan.

For me Medieval 1 had the best music - captured the atmosphere amazingly and complemented the artistic style.

I do listen to RTW's soundtrack with fond nostalgia too - especially the Carthaginian campaign music.

Don't get me wrong, those tracks are nice, but i would not feel any connection with the setting. To me, atmosphere matters a lot.

These feel way too contemporary for my taste.

Well, for me, that is more stirring, inspiring & dramatic than the piece published in Rally Point 10.

Didn't they confirm Beddow as the composer in the last rally point?

    Yes, unfortunately they did.

TBH I hope they change their minds.

some other cinematic music. Not saying that its proper as a game soundtrack but I felt the need to share it. Also some grandiose scenery from Imperivum II and III

He was saying he hoped the composer for the "Faces of Rome" trailer had been Beddow, because the music sounded like Jeff van Dycks (and it was actually composed by Dyck).

However after listening to the music in the new rally point and the Battle of Carthage video(I think that's also Beddow's work) I think its quite good. It's similar to Empire's music but with more brass. Not bad Beddow; not bad at all

There is a sample of the music at the end of Rally Point 10 (starts without people talking at 2:41):

It's pretty good. It reminds me of Trevor Jones' track, "The Ambush/Waterfall" for The Last of the Mohicans.

Exactly. I don't deny it is a nice piece of music but.....

It reminds you of a totally different era.

    Me too.

That is why I am rooting for JVD!

E.S Posthumus have great dramatic soundtracks. One of the brothers behind E.S Posthumus was an archaeology student, hence the song titles like 'Pompeii' and so forth. Unfortunately I think E.S Posthumus no longer exist as one of the brothers died.

I'd have hoped that Jeff Van Dyck would have come back for Rome II, but Richard might do a good job. I didn't enjoy his Empire soundtrack, as a matter of fact I usually turned it off during battles as the bombastic battle music on a constant loop annoyed me. His campaign and menu music was pretty good though. So I'll keep an open mind on Rome 2's music, and not judge it till I've heard it.

Gotta say that for me the admittedly little I have heard of them, ES Posthumus capture the ancient feel a whole lot better than Beddow.

Saddened by the demise of one of the composers, if that is the case though!
