    Default Warhammer Lore Compilation

I've decided to re-introduce my lore compendium here. I'll be posting it preemptively as I do check every single link and add information. This will be for those new to Warhammer and would like some lore to help learn more about the setting. I'm updating this as an all nighter project, so if you don't see much right now. Its because I am in the process of updating.

    Rakarth, Beastlord of Krondar Kar:

Kouran, Captain of the Black Guard: Kouran is a cunning commander, one of the greatest military minds the Druchii have. Uncluttered by compassions, mercy, or ego, he does not care at what cost his victories come and is known to take great risks, once having sacrificed a whole army to lure an enemy force into the trap he devised. Nevertheless, to this day, he has always come out victorious in the end. Wielding a Blade of Ensorcelled Iron, a blade of pure iron tempered to the sound of arcane incarnations in ages past which guides his strikes with magical precision and wearing Armour of Meteoric Iron stamped with protective runes, he is a match for any foe he might encounter.

    Tullaris of Har Ganeth:

    Shadowblade, Master of Assassins:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Although he is still very young (only 150 years old), Shadowblade already is a legend among Dark Elves. Dark Elf minstrels sing of his adventures and he makes frequent appearances in bedtime stories for Druchii children. The most famous tale is that of Shadowblade murdering the Captain of a High Elf Hawkship. He killed of the crew members one by one, over the course of several days. With their fear and desperation increasing every day, the crew attempted to detect the murderer in their midst and corner him, but they were not successful. In the end, only the captain was left alive to tell of the days and nights of horror. Shadowblade is a master of deception and is able to hide within cities and armies of every major nation on both Naggaroth and in the Old World. He very rarely takes part in great battles, and when he does, it is mostly to assassinate enemy leaders before the battle. Should he ever be discovered, a feat yet to be accomplished by any of his enemies, and be slain afterwards, the Heart of Woe, a large ruby beating like a living heart he carries with him wherever he goes, will shatter into thousands of shard, slaying those who killed him and cutting apart his own body so no trace of his identity remain.

Lileath, Goddess of Dreams and Fortune:

    Mathlann, God of the Storms:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Mathlann is the easy-to-anger Elven God of Storms and the Sea. Though he is often said to be merely an aspect of the Old World's Manann, he is worshipped by sufficient numbers of Sea Elves (Author's Note: In current Warhammer editions, Sea Elves no longer exist, but are part of the High Elven nation) to be considered an equal.
Mathlann is clad in sclae armour with a giant seashell crown atop his head and a trident in his hand.
His symbol is a stylised trident or a shell design.
Being the God of Storm and Sea, his temples lie on the coasts. The greatest of these temples is located in Lothern, the capital and greatest seaport of Ulthuan.

    Moria-Heg, Goddess of Souls:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Also known as the Crone, Morai-Heg is the Goddess of the Underworld, and keeper of all Elven souls. Thus, she may, under extraordinary circumstances, allow an Elven soul to enter the living world again after its original host has died. She foretells the future from runestones she keeps in a pouch, runestones that only she can read. It is also said she knows every mortal secret. She is probably the least popular goddess on Ulthuan, as the proud High Elves do not like to be reminded of their own mortality. Outside of Ulthuan (and possibly Naggaroth), she is almost entirely unknown, though some scholars and followers of Morr have heard of her.
Morai-Heg's symbols are a gnarled staff and a pouch.

    Vaul, God of Smithing:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Vaul is the Elven god of smithing and metallurgy. His legend tells of a long-fought battle between him and Khorne, the so called "War in Heaven". According to Elven lore, Khaine had, at one point, imprisoned Isha and Kurnous in his dungeons. Vaul struck a bargain with him to forge a hundred swords in exchange for their freedom. When the time Khaine had set for the bargain was up, Vaul had only forged ninety-nine swords, adding to the pile an ordinary mortal blade. He was able to fool the Bloody Handed God long enough to free his captives, but he had incurred the wrath of Khaine.
To fight Khaine, Vaul forged the hundredth sword, a sword that surpassed all others. It was called Anaris ("Dawnlight" in the Elven language), and with it he set out to do battle. Although Vaul fought with courage and all his power, and caused grievous wounds to Khaine, the God of Murder eventually came out victorious in the end, chaining Vaul to his own anvil.
Many pictures and drawings show Vaul in this particular state, sealed to his working place forever. Only rarely is he still portrayed as a noble High Elf smithy with a hammer.
His symbols, however, stay the same: the hammer and anvil.

    Woof Elf Lore

    Wood Elf History:

    Wood Elf gods:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Kurnous, God of the Hunt (Wood Elves): For the Asrai, Kurnous is the God of Hunting in Athel Loren, and the main deity of their religion. For the Asur, he is called Kurnous the Hunter and seen as the ruler of the woods, animals and the untouched nature in general. Husband to Isha, he is father to all Elves. He is always accompanied by his divine tracking hounds, and whenever he blows his horn, the Wild Hunt will follow.
He is portrayed as a hybrid of Elf and stag, appearing in an Elven body with a stag's antlers, head and tail. However, he can also choose the form of any other animal living in the woods at will.
His symbol is similar to that of Taal, a stag's head with branching antlers.

Torothal, Goddess of Rain and Rivers:The Goddess of Rain and Rivers, Torothal is a Wood Elf deity that is almost entirely unknown outside of Athel Loren. Supposedly, she controls water on the mainland, being in control of when rain comes and when a drought hits, when a river is flooded and when it nearly dries out. Torothal is commonly depicted as young and beautiful (like almost all female Elven gods). Sometimes, the artist will add some fish scales to her body. Supposedly, Torothal can appear in the form of any river fish or even a rain cloud at will.
The rain cloud is also her symbol, along with the wave emblems.
Although she has no temples, there are a few holy rivers and lakes that are flooded throughout the year by never-ending rain.

Adamnan-Na-Brionha (Loec), God of Dance: For the Asur and the Asrai, Loec is the God of Laughing, Dancing and Music. He is also called the Laughing God, the Great Deceiver or the Great Juggler. It is him who protects Elven sould from being taken by Chaos, cheating the Chaos gods out of their price. He is most commonly depicted as a youngling dacning through nothingness, catching the souls and ghosts of the dead nearby. The Runious Powers are hunting him tirelessly, but they can never catch him. However, this joyous and protective side is only one half of Loec's personality. Unlike Liadriel, for instance, he has a darker side to him as well, for he is also the God of Shadows, of the Betrayers and the Dark Lust for Revenge.
His appearance reflects this two-sided nature: a mighty Elf with a slender, graceful left hand, but the muscles, shoulder and arm of a mighty warrior on his right. His expression is split as well: one side of his face fixed in a translacent bliss, the other in a burning fury. Loec's symbol is a flute in a clenched fist.

    Wood Elf Heroes:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Oriel (King):

    Ariel (Queen):

Durthu and Adanhu (Tree-men): Durthu is one of the oldest Treemen of Athel Loren, able to remember a time when no Elf would have dared to enter the woods. Like many of his kind, he looks back onto these days with longing, remembering the peace when no other mortal being disrupted the balance of the trees and animals. However, the hate he has once felt for the younger races has now been replaced by mild irritation, bearing witness to the fact that, given enough time, even the most stubborn creatures can change.
Adanhu, on the other hand, is the oldest, mightiest and wisest of all treemen. His existence goes back for longer than he himself can remember, and far longer than that of the Wood Elves. He is frequently asked for advice by the Asrai, who rever him as a great source of knowledge.

Arahan and Naestra, the Sisters of Twilight: Although they are twins, and both of them can completely control the will of every beast found within the forests of Athel Loren, Arahan and Naestra could not be more different. The beasts obey Naestra out of love, while they follow Arahan's commands out of fear and respect. Should the forest call upon these strange twins, they ride forth from their home in the mountains. When they strike down their foes, one can witness the different character's of the sisters best: while Arahan gives in to savagery, delighting in the slaughter, Naestra feels her sorrow rise with every enemy she is forced to strike down, tears welling in her eyes.

Skaw the Falconer: In the highest slopes of the Grey Mountains, in the branches of an ancient pine tree, there dwells an Asrai who speaks with the birds. He is called Skaw the Falconer, although his abilites are not limited to falcons. He regularly talks to any kind of bird that dwells within Athel Loren, be it lowly falcon or mighty eagle, preferring their company to those of his own brethren.
