Wow this is really helpfull i'm still new here and so many members that wants to mod or anything about modding can learn here thanks
I have a question.
I've been developing new skin textures but they seem to be 345KB size files rather than the 85KB ones like the originals. What happens is that when i loaad a battle that has most units with the larger texture file, it fails to load. I assume that this is a graphics problem. I'm wondering if there is a way to compress the files down to 85KB.
Can anyone help me hear, as it is driving me crazy.
Thanks
I use 345KB (512x512) textures all the time and never had a loading problem, suspect it's something else, do you have -show err activated?.
If your textures are the same layout as vanilla then you should be able to resize without losing quality. 345KB files are 512x512 pixels, you need to resize them to 256x256.
Hmm, your right. I managed to reduce the size of the files by reducing them by 50% then saving. But this doesn't seem to have solved the problem.
Could be a graphics problem or a problem with the CAS files?
I do have -show err activated and I don't get any error message. It just starts to load and then just freezes.
Are you using the DXT5 compression?
I found the problem, it was a bad cas file for one of my auxilia sagitarii units. of course it is a common unit which is why i was having so much trouble. I found it by trial and error. After I fixed the cas file the game now works fine.
Thanks for all of your assistance.
Cheers

Halie, one more question (seems like I'm asking you everything here ) where is the black alpha tga.dds located :hmmm:
Formerly Tyrtaeus
It's in the textures layers, see part 4 of the tutorial..
What? I don't get it, there's only the background in layers, there's an alpha channel, but I can either have it open RGB or alpha, not both :hmmm:
Formerly Tyrtaeus
If you select the alpha and either R,G, or B the alpha appears red so you can see it's position in relation to the texture..
Wanted to ask something...
When I open a dds file with Photoshop, I am prompted this:
What is best to choose?
Thnx in advance!
"Greeks dont mod like modders, modders mod like greeks." -PorkyJack
10 new captain models (campaign map) to download
thats ok use the default when loading them
thnx
