If it was in Rome 1 I can`t see why not in rome 2.

Funny how I never bothered to check how old they were, I always assumed they were older. But as most of us know, in those days you were considered pretty much an adult by 12 and life was short... very short.
A plea to CA: Please give us NON-STEAM OPTIONS such as with GOG.COM`s Alan Wake and Witcher 2, etc. Even allow a system such that Mount and Blade Uses. Many of us will pay extra for a Steam-free version of RTW2.
The use of STEAM-ONLY by CA is ethically wrong because:
    1. It does not need to be forced. It could be optional as other games have proven.
    2. It discriminates between internet users and non-users or those who simply do not want it.
    3. The `advantages` are only advantages in a very small and superficial manner. They do not counter the disadvantages.
    4. It suits the company way more than the user. We are simply told it`s better for us
Finally,I shall not give CA|SEGA my money for RTW2 while it forces Steam on me. They have given us no good reason why it must be so. Basically they don`t care.

A Steam Option would benefit ALL. Don`t fight us, JOIN us.
    Games don`t need forced Steam

A suitable husband has been found"...a bald 60 year old man with zero stats and not at all creepy when the girl is 13 years old

I don't see why not though if they did in Rome, think they did in Med2 as well..or mods certainly did it. 14 year old princesses etc. I

They absolutely would. People would often marry girls as young as 9, though it wouldn't really be sexual.

Roman men married quite late. Roman women married in their teens. Most men married when they were 25 yo 30 years old. Their wifes were usually around 15 when they married.
Officer to a soldier who refuses to fight: There three types of soldiers who don't have to fight. They are called KIA, MIA and POW and you are not one of them.

    I hope so

But I actually do wish that family members could come of age at around 16, cause in Shogun 2 I got Nobunaga at age 16 and he was already an 8 star general.

Yup around 30-35 they would die. That was just their lifetime. Most of them in places where hygiene was very low and they often died of diseases.

However the founder of the Ptolemaic Empire, Ptolemy I Soter, died at the age of 84( 283 BC) in Alexandria.

Don't confuse average life expectancy with the life of the average adult. Most figures tend to include child mortality which is why average life expectancy is so low but chances were if you made it to adulthood you would live into your 60s, 70s or 80s if you had access to all the essentials.

Also many Roman girls would be betrothed when they were quite young, many even being legally married before they were twelve. Generally speaking however they would remain with their parents until they had begun to menstruate and so become able to bare children.

I think we should be able to marry 12 year olds in R2. Eventhough in modern days values it is not accepted, we should remember that the game is about history of that time and changing the ways how romans got married and in what age would actually be censoring of the content. I am always against all censorship in historical matters.

No it was not. Most aristocrats in rome and greece lived up to 70-80 years old. Even regular people, especially in the country side lived up to 70+ easy. only the proletariat died a bit earlier. Only in the middle ages was live short because it reverted to shacks made of mud, feces and twigs.
However women would marry when they bleed, so 13-14 years old, same as the lads but they dont bleed though. Its just how it was.

And why the hell does it matter how old people are when they get married in the game?! Its Rome 2 Total war not Sims 3. And what are you, some kind of pervert to be interested in this?

As most countries have laws about such things and take a dim view of such things, I would imagine CA will take a miss on historical accuracy in order to miss law suites and criminal actions.

errr ,how about put the subject matter back in realm of Rome .. if your a wealthy patrican, you can screw and marry who you like, and have as many mistresses as you like, and you can have sex with your slaves, and go to brothels when you like.

And after all that, you don't get the perfect Son you'd be are proud of, you can kill off all the losers and adopt a winner!

Thus was the life of privilege in Rome ...

Well during the times of the republic and also later in medieval europe it was fairly normal that once a girl 'bleed' she was fruitile and able to marry. It was not only because people died quikly but they also had a lot of baby's that would die after birth. If I remember correctly out of 10 baby's arround 6 died...

That the most aristrocrats lived up to 70-80 is a little bit to optimistic. I would guess that the most of them in their 60s. 70-80 maybe 15-10 % and the lifetime isn't that much shorter in the middleage, just the child and woman mortality by birth is higher which increase the mortality for all. And we have the deseases in the 13th century which deform the image. In this case we have to remeber that the romans had their antoninian pest and we had just to the begin of the 20th century the spanish influenze which killed more man than were killed in WW1 at the same time.

Proud to be a real Prussian.

The romans had the nice problem that they had a patriarchalic society and even if you were a 35 years old man you couldn't marry if your father didn't wanted to give you a wife

You'll find out when the game is released; this thread has become a spammy one and many of the replies weren't conducive to a rational discussion. Closed.
I want you all to know how beautiful you are. No body--and nobody--can ever change that fact, and no mirror will ever be able to truly reflect it. The world is a better place with you in it.
