Alien is anything living outside Earth,
so it can be anything like astrounates have discovered a virus living in space so it is also alien so aliens excite but of course not UFOs or laser guns!

Well... That's going under the assumption it's actually possible for those things to exist. I just don't see it, call me a jerk if it ever does happen but don't hold your breath.

It is really unlikely, but at least finding an alien ghost ship cruising through the solar system would be huge discovery.
    Islamophobia - noun,

Ironic device by which people from Islamic Countries, where conversion to Christianity or Judaism would put their life at risk, complain that people complaining about Islamic violence are violent.

Ex : Women can't participate in Gaza Marathon, but talking about it would be Islamophobic.

It's hard to believe that life can arise, but that it only did so on one planet out of the billions that are out there.

The question is how common is it, and how often does large scale, intelligent, life arise?

I don't think the lack of visitation so far really adds anything to our knowledge in this regard. Just our own galaxy is 100,000+ light years across. We have only been sending out recognizably intelligent EM signals for ~100 years. In terms of volume, that is only ~.002% of the galaxy.

In short, nobody would know we are here.

I just think it`s really sad that we are all so lonely stuck on this isolated mudball, millions of miles away from the nearest living neighbour and likely never to see it.

I mean, what happened? I look around me and I see a vibrant, living world, exploding with abundant life, but just here? just on Earth?

I mean was it really that hard for the Life to switch on anywhere else? Honestly?

Is life really THAT precious that we are a very few in an enormous Universe?

I guess that makes us really, really special.
A plea to CA: Please give us NON-STEAM OPTIONS such as with GOG.COM`s Alan Wake and Witcher 2, etc. Even allow a system such that Mount and Blade Uses. Many of us will pay extra for a Steam-free version of RTW2.
The use of STEAM-ONLY by CA is ethically wrong because:
    1. It does not need to be forced. It could be optional as other games have proven.
    2. It discriminates between internet users and non-users or those who simply do not want it.
    3. The `advantages` are only advantages in a very small and superficial manner. They do not counter the disadvantages.
    4. It suits the company way more than the user. We are simply told it`s better for us
Finally,I shall not give CA|SEGA my money for RTW2 while it forces Steam on me. They have given us no good reason why it must be so. Basically they don`t care.

    Does beg the question though.
Our solar system is quite young in Universal terms. It’s made from the by-products of long extinct suns.
If intelligent life is common then most of it is a lot older than us, so why isn’t it already here?
It must be a personal issue.
No its an issue of distance. Even if there was a much older civilized life form in our galaxy it would take an exponentially greater level of technology to make traveling here to Sol system even remotely worthwhile. Other galaxies, forget about it. Unless they surpassed something like the speed of light the distance is far, far too great for any civilized, intelligent, technological life in any of the millions of other galaxies to be remotely possible. Add in the fact of the accelerating expansion of the universe and chances are pretty slim any alien life in another galaxy (even one much more advanced than ourselves) could make its way here.

I know they exist, and I know there are space fairing ones out there, I also know that there are and were advances civilizations, long gone and dead, or surviving and thriving, I know there are "prehistoric" monsters in those planets that are living as we speak.

What I dont know is if I will ever see them, but I have to believe I will, I have to

No why? It is not like I want to see them be honest.
    I dont care, I do.

How do you "know" this rather than just believe it is probably true?

Yes, I believe their are "Aliens" out their more intelligent than us and others still going through the cycle. Kind of annoying hearing people say our planet is "special" because it has life on it and we still don't know everything and never will know everything about our own planet. We haven't even scratched the service of our Galaxy yet.

Stastics, so many planets in so many systems in so many galaxies, and so much that we dont know, we dont know how they might look or what they be made of, and so much time. I know its there I just dont know anything about them.

Call me paranoid or old fashioned, but I think advertising our existance, with a detailed map on how to find us, to intelligent beings we don't have the slightest idea about isn't necessarily our brightest idea ever.

I have a nerdy little chuckle to myself when I think, if in 40,000 years, when Voyager 1 is within 1.6 light years of the nearest star on it's trajectory and it actually gets found by whatever hypothetical alien civiliation, whether or not people on earth will even remember sending the Voyager probes out.

Let's hope, then, that if anything judges us by that drawing it will think we are naked pacifist and will send appropriate force to defeat such hippies which we will then overpower and steal their technology.

It likes Mayans going to Spain with an advertisement:

"we live in a city that cover by gold, diamonds and precious metals. Our most advanced weapons are wooden spear and archer. Our armor is soft and we even dont have horse. Please pass by and we'll treat your conquistadors like living gods."

The human history did prove one thing: primitive civilization were conquered by advanced civilization.

Naked chieftains wielding wooden clubs giving gifts of gold to early explorers did just that.

After seeing that, wouldn`t the Aliens expect us all to be naked? And what if they see nudity as a great form of intelligence? They`ll be like `Where are all the Naked Ones? You mean you cover yourselves? It was a LIE? That`s it, we don`t want to share our super technology with you any more. In fact, we`ll just erase your frigid lying Mankind!`

I mean imagine if Aliens sent us pictures of themselves naked, but really wore clothes. Wouldn`t we always show them naked in everything we depict about them? Would we be somewhat confused when they arrived in clothes?

But I do understand the worry of meeting Aliens. I watched a short film once where humans and Aliens met eachother and they were so different, we couldn`t handle it and immediately went to war with them. the Aliens did the same and wiped us out.

But any Alien that comes here first might very likely just decide to use us for food and not even bother saying `hello`. It won`t be no independence Day where a computer virus knocks them out. They would wipe us out with no remorse. We should be careful what we wish for.

thankfully they will almost certainly never discover any probe we have so far sent into space. And our radio signals don't go very far either.

Meh. I`d like to think of them studying the probe and the images and making all the wrong assumptions. Maybe they even worship it on some distance planet near Alpha Centauri.
