Hello, and welcome to Interactive History! We are a small but loyal community of history enthusiasts and amateur writers, who play games called "Interactive Histories" in order to exercise our loves for both hobbies. At any given time, you'll find us re-imagining history "as it might have been", by commanding armies, fighting battles, debating economics and law, and manipulating affairs covertly with trusted cloaks and handy daggers.

We love having new members join us, so have a look around and get acquainted with everyone! Please first read the first posts in all of our sticky thread - we have a place to chat, a place to debate more sensitive topics, a place to suggest and discuss potential themes for IHs, as well as some other useful threads that have some merit - it will be a boon for you to know where everything goes.

Lastly, here are a few tips for getting started in IH:

Things to do:

  • Say hello! We are the most eclectic mixture of people you'll encounter for a long time. Numbering amongst us are Communists, Orthodox Christians, the most beautiful man on earth, and a god.
  • Ask questions! We are more than happy to clarify anything you'd like to know. Have the stickied threads left you with a vague impression of what we do? Stop by the Bar and ask away! Just about any one of us is qualified to help you out.
  • Join a game! At any given time, we usually have one game running (occasionally two). Read up on the rules (there is always a main game thread in the forum below), and join up.

Things not to do:

  • Be rude. Don't do it.
  • Create a game without discussing it with the community first. You wouldn't walk into a book club and interrupt the agreed upon discussion to say why the book you've just read is cool, would you?
  • Post disruptively in games. This is a given, but also is true in regards to jumping into a game without registering first. Please make sure to go through the proper channels first! We're not a bureaucracy with tons of red tape, but we do need some semblance of order in order to keep things organized.
  • Be rude. The rule so nice they gave it twice.
