Clan Start-up: It is free but requires three initial members within 48 hours of clan creation. Technically, there is an unofficial TWC clan on the Nimrodel server. Here is the defunct social group for it.
Additional Info: I want to start the clan (really, kinship) on the Dwarrowdelf server where I currently have toons on essentially every level range. This will make kin runs on different instances very easy, since I'm familiar with essentially every major instance up to the Isengard update.
New player training is very much integrated in game, and having a supportive kinship for various crafting and multi-role purposes in instances will help to create a tight-knit group capable of marching through various zones. The game is Free to play up to about the third zone, at which point continuing would rely on the in game purchase or award (by completing deeds) of turbine points or a subscription. It is possible to reach the level cap and go on any instance without spending a cent, however. Management of the clan could run quite smoothly through TWC, in fact I would prefer it over most guild websites which pack in too many superfluous, confusing features.
I imagine clan hierarchy could function initially on a "how much you know" basis. It is my hope that we can recruit experienced players to officer roles and through that attract non-members to register to TWC for the express purpose of participating in the TWC clan. I've held several officer positions in well known Dwarrodelf clans including The Crimson Brotherhood, Order of the Old Gods, and Reforged. I'd like to build a well rounded clan that enjoys raiding, but can also slow down to enjoy the scenery of Middle Earth. I don't think it will be hard to find one or two additional interested players in order to get this clan kick-started.
Why Dwarrowdelf?
It was the default server for new players for about a year in 2010-2011, so chances are good anyone who has been playing for at least a little while got their start there (myself included!) It is one of the most active servers.
