    Default Title

    Hey guys,

Since a week or two I've been playing RTW again, and I'm having more fun than once. I've reading this forum through, just to compare my tactics with those from some other RTW players. Recently I've played a Julii campaign again, and my fellow brothers-in-arms, the Scipii, had this general:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

So my question is: does someone know how you can get this title? I really love playing the game in detail, and those are the little things that make the game exciting and different in each way. A little help here, thanks

Unfortunatly Augustus is a name and not a title in the game. When a suitor appears and/or family member comes of age their name is picked at random. So you just have to cross your fingers and wish and hope to get an Augustus in your game. Sorry. I hope in Rome II that Augustus is a title and not a name any ol' Roman can get.

Probably by obeying the Senate a lot and fulfilling their every request.

No, I really mean the title 'Augustus'... (Sorry for the misunderstanding)
@Warrior Cat, are you really sure about that? Because it's the (first) faction leader of the Scipii, and so his real name is Cornelius Scipio... I'm sure it's him, because when I took the print screen I wasn't playing for long and I've played the Scipii as well. So my conclusion is that it has to be a title...

Edit: I play in vanilla, so a mod (nor I) has changed something to my files.

There are not only Scipio's in Scipii same goes for the other factions.

    There are several ways to get family members;

    - gets born as child - comes out of age -> familymember
    - the man of the hour
    - adoption
    - bribery

Scipios will appear by the first option only.

Yeah I know, but you miss the point I guess...
So when you start a campaign with the Scipii, you have your faction leader - Cornelius Scipio. (Who looks exactly like the one on the picture) and his three grown-up sons. (Julianus Scipio - faction heir, Quintus Scipio and Gaius Scipio).

So with this in the back of your head, now look again at the picture. I just started with the Julii, and so my allies, the Scipii, have started with this faction leader - Cornelius Augustus. So he's not called Cornelius Scipio... How's this possible if it isn't a title? And knowing that I play vanilla...

Ah i see - sorry - not been reading the post i quoted carefully enough.

Not sure about it then but Augustus is definitely included in the names file so
it should be a name - not a title.

Did he start the campaign as Augustus or as Scipio?

I don't know actually, I had only seen it when he had an office in the senate... I think I was playing my campaign for 15 turns or so. So I assume you think that it's a bug in my game - that he was named Augustus instead of Scipio? I've never had it before though... I really thought it was a title

Wether it's a bug or a feature is argueable imho.

I didn't pay too much attention to the names of the other roman faction's family members
yet so i can't even say if this bug/feature is usual or not - will do so in my next campaign.

Alright... Me neither though, but this just occured as I was looking through my 'new' senate offices.
I really hope it's a title, and I would really love to know how to get it
    Someone else who can help?

Your best bet would be to ask somebody from a mod team like europa barbarorum or roma surrectum.

They both have implemented titles for their mods so someone there will know for sure more than the
    average player.

Especially in roma surrectum 2 they should know about this since you can get titles like Scipio Africanus
for conquering this and that etc.
