    Default Religion,priests etc

Hmmm was wondering what is the actual point of the priests etc because religion doesnt seem to destabilise regions as much as in Shogun 2.Do they serve a real purpose anymore or are they just leftovers from vanilla with no real use?

Religion certainly can help to destabilise a region, especially in the Americas where the smaller populations are easier to convert.

The same Americas where you rarely have to wait for resistance to foreign invaders as its almost non-existant there.

I think religion is one feature which realistically should either be heavily improved or removed and replaced perhaps with a cultural indicator.

    Western European replaces Protestantism
    Eastern European replaces Catholicsm
    Asian replaces Islam
    Indian replaces Hindu
    Native American replaces Animism
American replaces Sikh (cant remember if the Sikh religion was in game or not)

Anyhow this would allow a much better concept of cultures within the game. I almost guarantee 90% of players do not build the church when theres access to much better regions. I for one as GB, France, Italy whoever really remove the church and add either industrial buildings or a college.

Gives the cities more happiness too, so if you take a city and convert the population to your religion, it helps you to leave the city without garrisoned troops.

Its rare that I can convert a provinces religion and conquer it faster than the conquer and resistance to foreign invaders is gone. It is also rare for religion to have a significant effect on holding a region.

Near enough every region once resistance to foreign invaders is gone is then peaceful

I've been able to move my armies on two turns earlier than usual thanks to a bunch of missionaries. Believe it or not that little difference has been crucial to the campaign (the French had an unseemly number of armies in North America at that point, mostly aimed at me). Does it always help? No. Can it? Yes.

Nothing except a waste of space and waste of time in gameplay....

Over a year ago i modded to make all factions have the same religion....spawing of priest to zero....religion at 100%.....removed all churches.....stop churches being produced......the actual gameplay in term of fighting and getting on with the campaign was vastly improved.

Still think its a none effective system which could easily be represented by something else.
