    I don't think your problem ends with a new hobby to find... I think you shouls go see a paychologist or psychiatrist. You sound like you have motivational issues and addiction issues and they would likely be able to help you.

    Other than that you should look into starting to work out. Perhaps go to the gym... But it will do you no good unless you are consistent and keep working out according to schedule. You don't need a new hobby, you need to learn to stick with things, to see them through.

    I'm suffering from a similar problem, though all my obsessions lasted for months or years.

    The only advice I can give is that watching TV, movies, drugs or alcohol cannot help, because sooner or later you'd finish them all and they cannot make great show or new alchol every month to keep you away from the huge void feeling.

    PS: I know because I watch all new movies every weekends and have stocked 10 different alcoholic beverages in room.

    If you like electronic music you could try making your own with ableton live or FL Studio, that could keep you busy for a while.

    thanks for the reply's

    @nazgul , i don't think its an addiction problem, as have no need for drugs or alcohol despite my previous history. its also not motivational i still go to work and to college and all that. as for the working up, im in really good shape, my life style involves some exercise as i work in a near by town and walk to work, sometimes carrying things. i also did some kayaking over the summer for a couple of weeks, i got really good at it.

    @adq, mine last all sort of random times, i once was obsessed with making a chain mail suit and i made the 50,000 rings an knit most of them over several months. another time i took on origami and learned a new model a day for a semester.

    when i as mostly drunk i ended up having several kinds of absinthe in my kitchen. i also have lots of tea.

    @god

    I actually made a couple documentaries using a voice sintetiser and some computer simulations a while back i got bored of that real fast.

    i actually never before felt the void usually one hobby fades into another (alcoholism is a hobby), or there are girls in between but this time its different.

    I think nazul killer's advice is best. It sounds like you would really benefit from a professional psychiatrist. You have an unusual lifestyle that a psychiatrist could help you with.

    My holidays at university are a lot longer than my holidays when I was in school so I often have a lot of time to spend on computer games and TV comedy shows and I'm nearly insane from lack of social interaction by the end of them, despite going out to birthday parties and other occasions to meet friends. I live in a rural area and any work I do tends to be of a physical and solitary nature, except for one time in late secondary school when I worked in a supermarket. I live miles from anywhere and interact primarily with my family, with the odd other person only every couple of days.

    What are your options? Rugby, golf, (gaelic) football, writing, studying? Come on man we need something to work with. Running, walking, cycling, working out?

    Travel and read.
    Also learn how to cook, pick an exotic cuisine every month and dedicate yourself to trying to master it.
