Thread: TV Writing

    Default TV Writing

    Hey guys,

So I was thinking the other day, about the difference between how the writing is in books and how it is in the TV adaptions. Do you think that it would be possible to write long pieces for example here at TWC using a technique that is more like the one they use when writing a manus or directing a TV show or shooting a movie.

What would be special, what would be neccessary and what would be different?

Would love you guys' opinion on this .

Well you would have to write a lot more dialog when going for a movie or TV series. Usually split into three or four acts with an opening teaser I believe. That's a lot of dialogue to make up to last 23 - 45 min.

Do you not mean script? instead of manus? Im not sure. Whenever I hear manus I think of Max Manus Can we use that word? or is it Norwegian-English?

I've done editing work on a script before. Keep in mind that if it's going to be spoken it needs to flow and sound like something somebody would genuinely say versus strictly formal writing.

It is. I usually never cry, but I almost do at times when I watch it.
