    Hello

    I am playing Rohan and im on turn 18, i think. I took dunland when they sallied out with the aid of the garrison script troops. First turn after taking dunland went normally. Then, when it was isengards turn, they just created a huge army out of nowhere. Now, this wouldnt be a problem, if they consisted of troops available to isengard currently, but they arent. Warg riders, lots of dunlendings and loads of heavy archers and heavy infantry.

    I think I can win the battle, but It will be a pyrrhic victory by my standards. Plus I am already weary of the endless stacks isengard can throw via the aid of the money script, so Im not too eager to fight an army thats created out of thin air.. and its troops shouldnt even be available to isengard yet!

    What is this sorcery and can I get rid of it?

    And if I cant get rid of it, will this be a common occurrence whenever I take a city with garrison script?

    They're often called dreadstacks, and they're there to make a faction much harder to destroy. They appear when you take an important city from a faction, not specifically a garrison script town, but an important town that the AI starts off with, such as Minas Tirith for Gondor, Helms Deep for Rohan, Minas Morgul for Mordor. Most factions have them, and they will always be made up of good troops, but with Rohan you should be able to cope with that with all your general bodyguard units. I presume there is a way to remove the script, but I'm not sure where it is myself, I'm sure it will be somewhere in the tutorials or submods section.

    Took a look at the weaken faction script. Which gives isengard all of the units you listed. However, that should only happen after you take isengard [the town or should i say stronghold] its self. Did you by chance happen to take isengard before marching to dunland? If so, than yeah that is the weaken faction script. not sure if mos change that

    In order to delete this script, you would have to go into your third age total war folder. Go into the imperial campaign. open up your campaign script file. scroll down and you should find this.

    Deleting that should stop the script for isengard, however you would need to delete far more than that. if you want it for all factions, going have to delete the whole weaken faction script. However, very sure you are going need to start a new game. In order for this to take effect. Not 100% sure on that, might want to ask someone with a bit more modding knowledge than me.

    Or it could be the last stand script. If you took the town of dunland and isengard only had its starting 2 cities left. That would fall under the last stand script, which helps the ai when they have very few cities left. which is found in the same file.

    I havent taken isengard, just the dunland region ( not dunland hills ).

    Isengard has only fangorn, dunland hills and isengard itself left.

    Looks like i might of read the script wrong. If i am reading this right, looks like they get help from the last stand script when they have 3 cities or less.

    Shouldn't be too hard to beat them anyway. Archers and non-spear infantry, even Isengard's, tend to melt away when flanked by one or two cavalry groups.

    If you are willing to play with version 3.1 there is an awesome submod compilation provided by Baron Samedi:

    Personally, I won't upgrade my version of TATW until Baron Samedi updates his submods, they are that good. One of the many submods allows you to turn off the garrison script on your first turn.

    Then you never will, Baron Samedi has moved on and won't be updating the compilation anymore sadly.

    Well, I took care of the army with no problem after all. I think it was a cool script in the end, giving them kind of a last chance.. now Isengard has only fangorn and nan curunir, and soon fangorn will be mine too.. but isengard will have to wait, OotMM and mordor just started knocking on my door, of course in remote locations where I dont have any armies...

    Baron samedis compilation seems cool, though I play on 3.1, so..
